Insta pulled for her, seeing the flower deal like 18k damage post weakness break is wack. She seems fun in Topaz Ratio comps.
She makes your team do crazy amounts of damage in the simulated universe. I had the entire enemy team explode and instantly be defeated a few times just from the weakness break entering the battle.
Yah, it’s kind of crazy that you can basically run through the minor enemies in simulated, as if your playing the 1st World with all level 80 characters

In my other gacha game that sadly will have to come to a close in by the end of February, we would call units that basically helps the team just by existing as aurabots and essentially that's what Ruan Mei is she's an aurabot and an amazing on at that, definitely must pull.

@@user-bu6xp8le5o to some extent yes, because the party is comprise of 4 characters, you have your dps and your supports, most of the times you want your dps to be taking the turns instead of the support but your supports also need turns to apply buffs/debuffs, so having supports that can basically give buffs and debuffs by just standing still means your dps can go ham with turns without worrying to much buffs falling off most the time.
In the case of ruan mei, her buff is applied to herself, and will only drop if she takes a turn, so in that sense the more turns she gets the faster her buff will fall off so you want her to get less turns while maintaining good sp generation and ults
The more turns your dps can have while not worrying on a valuable buff falling off means more damage.
Edit: I don't mean this on bad way I hope you don't take this ona bad light either

I got her E0, and S1 Lightcone. I tried to go for E1 but I got E2 welt. She is hands down one of the best support characters to have. I have been spamming simulated universe and it's SO fun instantly killing enemies by breaking them at the start of battle. By the time Sparkle gets here, I have no idea how my team is going to look.
Fr. I did over 600k dmg just by using my technique, and she isn't even properly built yet. For a support unit, her dmg can be brutal in SU just by merely scaling off of BE.

@@jaykayy4268Actually no. With thw Amount of Enemies that keep spamming Minions coming out even Jingyuan will be useful as an Erudition Lightning that can also do a Surprising amount of Single target DPS.
@@jaykayy4268 Jing Yuan being bad is laughable nonsense that's been widespread. If he is enjoyable to play is subjective, and nobody is obligated to enjoy him, I don't personally see myself interested, but he's an incredibly capable unit that is factually up near the top.
I pulled Jingyuan and overtime he has felt like an improving unit. He's had a bunch of micro buffs over the games duration and now is definitely capable of keeping up with the quote "better dps units" I'll be it, only in AOE content.
As a new F2P I used all my saved up jades and got her and her light cone! I also got Hanya randomly and thankfully, E1 Tingyun and E4 March 7th and Xueyi. Really good pulls!
That is a good pull, though i would argue u should went for her e1 rather than her lightcone, but nontheless a solid pulls for a new player..u can try do main dps xueyi, qould be great pair with ruan mei

@@aphrodite5206 great! Ruan mei e1s1 is arguably the best support in the game..i also went for her e1, but lost to welt e1 in 70pulls, but still got her e1 in next 20 pulls..also got e5 xueyi and build her, she uis good and fun to play
the beatiful thing about pen buffs, it works on DOTS, meaning nihility just got even more broken

I only have Jing Yuan and Topaz for new 5* damage dealer, starter I only have that Ice sword boy
Don't forget March and Gepard being preservation and a little nihility, with the first one shielding 1 person and freezing everyone while the other freezes one person and shields everyone
Isn't sparkle gonna be even better tho? her leaked kit gives you more skill points either 2 at base or 3 E4. Gives a bunch of buffs and can boost crit damage and turn progression by 50% (I still haven't been able to get Bryona). I'm just not sure who will be better cause this is a luck game and I doubt I will be able to pull both of them
5-star Harmony units don't overthrow one another, they help complement each other.
@@xenoemblem7 oh, I fully agree. I would love to have both but I don’t play the game super regularly. I think I have 20,000? Jades saved up. Did a random 10 pull and got the new 4 star character which was nice. But I just wouldn’t have enough to get both sparkle and Ruan Mei.
I thankfully got Silver wolf in like 30 pulls so I actually saved up a lot more then I thought I’d have. But still, might need to invest more time into the game. I’m sure there’s a lot more story from where I left off now to get tickets and jades.
i dont think one will be better than the other, it just depends on what units you have already
sparkle is going to be the best support for mono-quantum seele/qingque teams and probably also IL teams, but most other teams don't use enough skill points to really take advantage of her kit. ruan mei is way more generally useful.
@@syn010110 she does open up some interesting possibilities with her sp stuff that could allow for shorter ult rotations on supports as they would be allowed to skill almost every turn, plus her cdmg buffs and action advance are pretty damn good. i think she’ll be good in non quantum/il teams but ruan mei is likely going to be more universal
I think I will pull her in her rerun cuz rn it's a bad time for me since I don't have much resources and I'm saving for black swan who will probably buff my dot teams

@@xaq039It's funny that we had the same thought process except that the reason I didn't wanna pull for Ruan Mei was because I thought she wasn't that impressive, ended up eating my own words and pulled for her at 20 pity and now she's a staple in my DoT team consisting of Kafka, Black Swan and Huohuo. It's kinda funny to think about, if I didn't have the guts to pull for Ruan Mei, I probably would not be a DoT enjoyer.
I was saving since Fu Xuan and got E1 and her LC.
I prefarmed her to lvl 80 and traces to 9. I have a lot of previous relics with 16-19% break effect on her and it wasn't nearly enough to get her optimal threshold of 180, I have to run Meshing Cogs because my Memory of the Past is only S2.
I was able to complete MoC 11, 12 I am going to try again today I was repeatedly dying because my Lynx is underbuilt
Honestly i feel like she enables dual dps comps so well. As someone who's been on that DOT train, its so nice having that bonus break efficiency and effect, and being able to buff my DOTs along side my houhou.

With every character being better than the previous in some way or the other, I don't see that happening... Just look at Silver Wolf that was hyped up to be the "Kazuha of HSR" and now look at her... Barely clinging on to the meta teams.
I'm not gonna bother batchesting about Ruan Mei... Sure she's great for now but if someone doesn't actually like her character but feels forced to pull just because she's "meta" please don't... There will definitely be better characters than her down the line - this is the inevitable nature of turn based games.
And even if she doesn't get powercreept, it's not like not getting her will make your account unplayable or anything 😂.

one thing to note that gives Ruan Mei a more specific niche than what you brought up is that her ult doesn't just delay enemy turns, it works like the enemies in question are coming out of Freeze, which gives her a really unique explicit synergy with Kafka/Sampo teams because their DoTs tick more often thanks to Ruan Mei. Her sheer flexibility (I've got like 3 team comps rn that she could easily slot into in place of Asta, which also lets me run multiple of those team comps together in MoC since I can run RM in one team and Asta in the other) along with that explicit Kafka synergy is ultimately why I went for her E1, and I don't regret it one bit. She's probably the best investment I've made for my account, honest to god.

@@magoomania6278 Black Swan's one that I've been considering for awhile, but currently the pinch I'm feeling in my roster is lack of any sustains other than Gepard and Lynx, so if there's a sustain getting rerun in 2.0 I might just have to skip Black Swan until *she* gets a rerun, since I'm getting the feeling that incoming damage isn't going to be any easier to sustain going into Penacony lol

@@rossalbertdelacruz6751 you can absolutely get more "skip turns" in a DoT comp by Freezing them, but the other benefits that Ruan Mei offers arguably make up the difference and then some over any characters we have who are capable of Freezing enemies, between her SPD buff making the 160 SPD req for Glamoth more lenient, the insane DMG% buff she gives, and her Break Effect buff being a nice way to amplify the DoTs that your DoT characters inflict by breaking enemies, which Kafka can in turn detonate with both her skill and ult.
im f2p and just cam back to the gamenear the end of 1.5 after not playing since 1.2 and am wondering if i should try to pull for E1 Ruan Mei since i already managed to get her and the E1 ability looks really good
Ruan Mei was my first won 50/50. Then I went for her LC and this was my first ever 5* LC which, of course I lost to Clara's LC. 😣😣 At the end of the day I burned 120 (all my saved tickets) to get her e0 s1. 0 regrets. My Jingliu with clara LC is hitting double of what she used to now lol

Im not super keen on total dmg increase for all allies dont get me wrong its a good buff but most teams really only have 1 maybe 2 big damage dealers so will not be fully utilized in alot of teams thou her increased break efficiency and other break synergies are a diff story. Even thou it was first touted as the defining mechaninc of honkais combat system as it was the only thing effected by a character element in the entire and its only unique feature on the surface that separated itself from other turn base combat games. Thou they decided to focus more on other gameplay mechanics like speed manipulation dot and follow up/ counter attacks im hlad they are going back to this mechanic

@meliodad2422 makes me want to be willing to use March again to make use of the follow up attack of hers with others like Himeko and Herta. Obviously I like to put her with my other used characters too, but she might be that "missing glue" for some other characters I've felt missing.
I tried to MOC full clear before pulling for her and did it with ease. Bronya still serving and my jades still safe.

I have a question,I just came back to the game and lost the 50/50 to Himeko, my question is if i should save up and pull for Kafka or if its more worth to continue pulling for Ruan Mei. I currently have Welt and the new 4*( idk their names sry:/) as my dps.
Ruan mei bc she's very f2p friendly and will be a great investment to current and future teams. Kafka is good if u hv enough dot units built for her as it is her main source for damage

Terrible decision. DPS characters are large and plenty. Support characters are everlasting and a regret for most who never picked them up.

@@untrustingstatue Luocha is not on every team tho? That stopped happening three updates ago with the release of Fu Xuan which is by far the best sustain in the game, and Huo Huo is also more efficient than Luocha, the reason Luocha was considered so good was because the only sustain optiones were pretty mid. He being easily the most skill point efficient character won't even be true with the release of sparkle, so he won't be used in DHIL teams anymore which is arguably the only teams u would wan't him over Fu Xuan or Huo Huo.
Im at a point i have too many supports but god rheyre so pretty. My kafka just keeps getting bufed and will even get more buffed when black swan comes out

Nope.. Xueyi and Ruan Mei have anti-synergy with each other. Xueyi wants to break as much as possible to get her stacks. RM makes enemies unable to recover from weakness break for once thus extending the duration of weakness break and during that time Xueyi won't be able to get stacks as she won't be breaking any weakness.
5 star DPS will always come out on top
Ruan Mei's kit only boosts dmg and Break Effect Efficiency, which is good for Xueyi since she needs to break enemies fast, if you want to
I believe that she will be incredibly important as a character in a lot of teams. On the other hand, you said waifu over meta and that's a hard pass. She stabbed us in the back twice in one mission, that's plenty for me.

Will Ruan Mei work well with Clara teams? Weakness break delays the enemies turns, making it so that they won’t hit Clara and trigger Svarog’s counter attack. Since Ruan Mei buffs weakness break that means overall less damage for Clara. Or will the buffs provided to Clara be enough to carry anyway?
Edit: I forgot that Ruan Mei also gives speed, which is not desired for Clara.

I was finally able to beat world 3 in SU. Her talent is so crazy and immediately got rid of his 1st phase.

She gives so many buffs that it's like having two or three harmony/ Nihility characters in one package.
I wasn't going to pull for her since I'm a Ratio simp, but when the devs announced that he will be free I've started to save for her since I pulled in Argenti's banner but I lose the 50/50 with Bailu and I've grown a little of pity for her, luckily enough she came in a 10 pull in pity 35 and now I'm having the time of my life with her!!!

After witnessing in Simulation Universe in both her parts how much insane rewards she gives... I already had the prediction she would be the most cracked 5* as well and god I was right! >_< I finished chaos at 36* just because of her! Absolutely love her!
Honestly, I’d love to pull for her, but I have no good 5-star DPS + Bronya is already good enough for me, so I’m going for Blade and pulling for her in her next rerun. May all Ruan Mei wanters be Ruan Mei havers, though!

@@dante19890 Here's a wild idea- They could just have not wanted any of them.
I myself am a Week 1 player, and I passed up on the two big ones of Dan IL and Jingliu just simply because I do not like them as characters. Dan was always the most boring character of the Astral Express, and his 2nd form was a downgrade design wise. Jingliu had pretty animations, but she looked like a Guinaifen palette swap and her personality reminded me of drywall.
Point being, I could have gone for them, but I didn't. I'm also skipping Ruan Mei because Black Swan and Sparkle come out next patch and I like them more than RM just on first impressions. Black Swan was the first character I saw on a trailer, the Myriad Celestia on the Aeons, and Sparkle is a Masked Fool. On top of that, I want Firefly and Sam, so I need to hard save despite Ruan Mei being a good compliment to my preferred FUA and DOT play styles. I'll grab Ruan Mei on her rerun most likely, unless she has the unfortunate timing to rerun during a patch that's hard to save on.

She is like when Luocha was released, he was superior to every other sustain option but with time there will be equally good options to suit ones teams and preferences. I will simply say if you like the character and is fun to play, then go for it.
I see, Ive tried using her with support from my friend list and I can't say that I enjoy her. I just feel like something is missing on her idk why. I enjoy Blade more. As a new player I think I'm gonna skip her as of now and get her on rerun.
@@mikailikal Maybe its because she does not have an ability in which she directly attacks the enemy. Ruan Mei to me is similar to Tingyun, they though buffs and make sh!t happen.

Dude. She delays Enemy recovery of Break. Himeko wants the Enemy to have like a Permanent Bar for Toughness Break.
And Some People are saying Harmony TB can give enemies that Special Break bar.

She's quite powerful, and I agree with the assessment of pull value/account value for her being up there with Fu Xuan. Luocha is the other character holding up a top spot for me
Fu Xuan is just better Luocha in nearly every way, Huohuo is also better. Doesn’t mean he’s bad, he’s definitely still S Tier. Huohuo and Fu Xuan just offer way more support and outperform him in sustain roles.

Honestly ive been losing interest in HSR for the past few months so i did the same thing ive done for other games ive lost interest with in the past. I made sure to have enough currency to get to pity but i still had to win a 50/50 for Ruan Mei. So if i lost I planned to at least take a long break from the game and if i won then id stick with it and see if i could re-ignite my interest in the game.
Ofc I lost my 50/50 to my 3rd Welt so Im now on an extended break (ill open HSR 1 more time when Dr. Ratio is given out just because it would be dumb to miss out on a free 5 star jic i want to play again) but im hoping some time off will let me find the fun again.
I just have a real love/hate relationship with turn based games. Theres a few that do a great job making the slow paced combat feel rewarding and skill based but overall most turn based games become too slow and boring to keep my interest. I really hope the HSR devs add some more complexity to the combat system because atm only having 3 options for each character is way too simplistic for what is otherwise a great game.
The story, setting, characters etc are all top notch but for me its the gameplay and combat that keeps my interest long term and, at least for me, HSR just isnt there (yet hopefully).
Anyways i hope everyone else had GL and got Ruan Mei
Although I think the game's combat is more mechanically interesting than it superficially seems, Ruan Mei feels like she has a bland-ass OP kit that really doesn't help make the combat interesting, just easier.

@@rubencarasa4232 If you by some miracle can auto "the whole game" just like that, that's the exception, not the norm.
Plus, it requires very extensive grinding and/or the right characters.
The experience for me, and a lot of other players, and I assume the intended experience, is autoing most of the farming and a bunch of the easier fights, and doing manual on the 20-40% more challenging stuff you try, or just when particularly engaged.
I don’t know why it’s getting annoying how every character gets hyped up to be the best and broken. I’ll just pull for who I like.
Worst thing about her is her animations, theyre nice but extremely lackluster and bland. Especially compared to sparkle…
They’re fine, just a different mood
Well, after one day with her, I can say she's extremely broken for Kafka teams. Making the enemy spend a turn doing nothing but take DoT damage is so good, and Kafka's teams might be some of the rare ones that run double DPS, making the team buff a lot better. Kafka can also take advantage of Weakness Break a lot more than other teams. On top of that, it helps with the survivability a lot, which feels good since I currently use her with Huo Huo who now barely needs to use her skill at all. And with her light cone, the extra energy for the whole team having Huo Huo who can convert it on more energy for the whole team... it's all just crazy lol I'm surprised how much better my teams got just from swapping Asta with Ruan Mei.

i didnt realize that Harmony is really rare and Ruan Mei being the first we have is already cracked. now we have Sparkle which is basically an upgraded version of Bronya. Harmony might be my most favorite path in the game
Ruan Mei is the Kazuha of Star Rail. Scales off Break effect, shreds the enemy and gives dmg bonus.

Ruan Mei is about the Ruin My Wallet 🗿
Ruan Mei (and also Xueyi) were introduced mainly to address a certain specific problem. To put it in the words of this channel: Why NO ONE Plays: Break Effect.
The Break Effect stat only factors into breaking the enemy's toughness bar, something which Xueyi might still do, but Ruan Mei sure as hell isn't going to be doing. In fact Ruan Mei's Ice element is generally agreed to be the worst element type for Break Effect. So Mihoyo does what Mihoyo does, i.e. take an underwhelming/underutilized stat, and make a character that highly scales off that stat for offensive capability and now players have to burn trailblaze power to farm talia and thief sets. I can only imagine if Ruan Mei scaled off ATK instead, like with Tingyun/Luocha, or even HP like Fu Xuan/Blade, she'd be way less troublesome to invest in.
I guess at least the buffs she provides are universal, unlike Genshin's recent supports which have all sorts of annoyingly hyper-focused niches like buffing only normal attacks, or buffing only Ice DMG, etc. Heck one of these days they're gonna do something dumb again like a buffer specifically for only plunge attack DMG......

Furina is Genshin's most recent support and she buffs ALL damage. The last support that was actually niche that I can remember was probably... Mika with his healing and physical damage buffs? if not him, then Faruzan as a dedicated Anemo damage support or Candace as a Normal Attack buffer and Hydro applicator. Those were all around the middle of the Sumeru patches. We're currently almost halfway Fontaine xD
I feel like shes more of a weakness breaker support then a whole rounder support she doesnt support sp regen or crit buffs
The end result is that ur dmg still gets boosted but by buffing different parameters

Literally my exact feeling. I started playing on Acheron banner, didn’t have enough pulls to actually get her, and then realized I had just missed Ruan Mei and Sparkle, two great units who I both want and would be of great value to my account.
Now I have to wait around for all of their eventual reruns in a few months at best…though surely Ruan Mei and Acheron won’t be too long into the future (end of this year maybe?), given I’m sure they’ll pull in serious banner sales for those that missed them or want their eidolons and light cones

Ruan Mei and Seele aren't a bad pairing, but there are certainly better harmony units like Yukong and Bronya that Seele would prefer. Better yet, Seele at the moment wants Silver Wolf and Fu Xuan.
you forgot to mentioned how she has the only weakness break efficiency buff in the game. Also, what is break efficiency vs break effect lol
Break efficiency is how fast you break toughness and break effect is how strong the damage that comes from breaking the toughness completely

The Break effect is the damage when you break the shield(the white bar). The more Break Effect stats you have, the more dmg you have but never increases the white bar depletion, that only applies to Break Effect Efficiency which is part of Ruan Mei's skill and the Simulated Universe Nihility buff

Sparkle/Hanabi is a pretty good support, who provides a crit dmg buff to an ally for one turn and advances forward their action by 50% with her skill. Her ultimate refreshes 4 skill points and increases the dmg buff from her talent by a certain amount. Her talent makes your party have a permanent +2 skill points (7 in total), and when an ally consumes skill points, their dmg is buffed by a certain amount for each skill point consumed (max 3 stacks)
Black Swan's main gimmick is her talent, which can be applied by her abilities. It deals wind DoT damage at the start of each turn, and can apply the same effect to adjacent enemies or ignore def depending on the number of stacks of the effect(max 99 stacks). Her basic may apply 1 stack and may apply 2 stacks if the enemy is under any DoT. Her skill applies 1 stack and reduces def of enemies. Her ultimate makes enemies take more damage and turn the talent effect into the fire/lightning/physical/wind DoTs.
They both have amazing animations ( especially black swan), so you don't need to be worried about that if that's your concern
If you can only choose one from Ruan Mei and Sparkle, how would you determine which one to pull?
@@arielgauss9105 I personally am going for Sparkle, mainly because she's quantum, and a mono quantum team doesn't have any buffers ( plus having 7 skill points is kinda sick).
But from a neutral perspective, I'd probably go for Ruan Mei, since res pen is a rare stat to come by, and she provides a speed, dmg and weakness break efficiency buff
@@arielgauss9105 That's simple. Check your current units. If you have Qingque (at least E4), Seele, Dan Heng (Imbibitor Lunae), or someone like Argenti, then yes, get Sparkle. If you don't have Bronya, get Sparkle. In any other situation, get Ruan Mei. Ideally, you should get both.

@@arielgauss9105Sparkle, she enables you to literally ignore SP management and even rewards you for it, she also has the added perk of being very much the best quantum support, with a base of her and FX/SW you probably have the game solved indefinitely.

Go for what you like. Keep in mind that dps characters are easier to replace. If you prioritize meta, or don’t have good supports go Ruan Mei. If you have good dps characters already you can skip Blade.
she break enemy for 60k damage, no kidding and then dots for 18k
so funny sometimes you get into battle with her and she break all of them and all of them died
At this point we should expect that almost every version will have a character that elevates the powercreep even further, which is to be expected from a turn-based combat gacha.

Idk. Other 5 star support and subdps are still viable, sometimes preferable to use over her. She hasn't completely eclipsed her fellow 5*s. There's more to life than Hypercarry comps, so when you need dual sustains for really painful content, she won't be the only choice
