Bottom 2 in the final: *Exists*
Germany and UK: It's free real estate.
Look, we just don't want someone get last place who qualified from the semis, we're just that nice! 😅
Don’t forget Finland! This year was an exception really :D
The yearly battle between the UK, Germany and Spain for last place was my favorite part. Spain unfortunately seems to have stopped competing
Don't worry, Norway and Finland are still the biggest losers of all time!
@@Quirino26 Spain is currently the first place in the betting odds for whos coming last.
They are absolutely still in that competition.
Imagine putting your heart and soul into representing your country at Eurovision only to come in last. It would be such a bitter and lasting disappointment.
I mean at least you got chosen to represent the country, that's something
tbf, they are last in the final, they weren't last in all the previous acts of the contest. They managed to be first in national selection, pass a first selection between countries, pass the semi finals and then come last in the last evening. It's still the 26th best of the possible competitors of that year
well, someone has to be :/
Imagine being the last and also having 0 points
@@MirimesUnless you're the UK and we are put into the final automatically
It's unbelievable how iconic "Do it for your lover" is in its horrible execution
that's the best of the best moment of the song🤣😂🤣😂. Can you imagine how many memes did it inspirate?
23:42 (i took so long to find this)
@@kuromi2880 omg ty for the timestamp
@@kuromi2880 I remember I was angry that it got votes at all. The selection process was so controversial and the song was so bad that all of Spain was fully on board with the idea of it receiving 0 votes.
The voice crack 💀
🇩🇪: Oh, I’m last again
🇬🇧: Hello old friend
norway: how dare you are going to break my record?!!!
😂😂
I mean 4 times last isnt bad compared to 11 😂
Finland: Am I a joke to you?!
It's hard to imagine how old Eurovision really is.
Eurovision is my grandmother age
I don't care if it was last place, I still listen to that "Moustache" song. It's so much fun 😄
I agree 100% the song just has that thing that makes has fun
Yeaaahh! Me too. I'm from Argentina, don't even understand a word in french....but i really enjoy the song!
Oh god. I still remember the confusion and shame when i saw both our place and that music. Why did we send them? What, being last even in Eurovision was our clear goal this time? Quelle déchéance!
Imagine being hyped because you've got chosen to be your countries voice
recieve zero points
Poor Germany...
2022: Sends a song called Rockstars, finish last.
2023: Sends actual rock stars. Still finishes last. Sigh.
Everything we do we do it wrong 😥
germany could send their most famous artist and STILL get last
or maybe we could send someone like Michael Schulte (a great singer who poured his heart into a catchy song) and end up in the top 4 again. Sure, we're not the most popular country in Europe for various reasons, but let's be honest, in recent years we had a lot of mediocre entries.
At least if would be funny if you sent Ikke Hüftgold
@@DieKiwi.it's not you! It's the voters
You did so well the world wasn't ready for it
Germany 🇩🇪: *gets last twice in a row*
Norway 🇳🇴: FINALLY A WORTHY OPPONENT. *OUR BATTLE WILL BE* *_LEGENDARY!_*
Yeah! And post Norway who came last 11 times!
Great Britain is a worthy opponent, too…
@@zenkman82 ...and Finland and Belgium
I suppose Austria could have competed for the last place more often than 7 times if Austria got into the finals 😂😂😂 but they didn't even have the chance in some years 😂😂😂
@@ann-karin60 Make that 12! 🥲
Blood and Glitter was ROBBED!!! Their performance was energic, the staging was very flashy, and his vocals were very impressive!!!!
IKR?
I nearly got tickets to the Lord of the lost and Iron maiden concert thing
You got the due punishment for not sending the awesome Patty Gurdy and her hurdy-gurdy.
@@ELisa-qf2mw I really liked her song and I voted for her before the national final, but that performance of her was just plainly bad. It takes a lot of talent to do what she is doing, but you still need to be to do it all live with at least some kind of stage presence.
With that said I hope she will come back for the next ESC's nfs and maybe learn from 2023.
They were better than Poland for sure
dream on
Germany finally broke their streak of finishing 25th
Only to finish 26th
Abraham Lincoln in 1865: Let's end first place in the American Civil War
Abraham Lincoln in 1965: Let's end last in Eurovision
There are exactly 2 competitions every year:
Whether Sweden or another country will be first and the battle for the last place between Germany and United Kingdom.
Sweden/Italy for 1st, UK/Germany for last
@@nabla41hat’s so ridiculous but true. Italy always sends shit songs and gets Top 3 while Germany sends good songs and becomes last (except that Jendrik guy, he was very bad)
@@nabla41 I don't know why, but those two countries can literally send a piece of shit and they keep being at the top of bets. It have happened more than once (and more than twice).
Add Spain at the fight for last
@@Luca33600 Okay clown LMAO
@@CrispyMcBacon. ?
6:25 Who knew Abraham Lincoln was such a great singer?
Blood and Glitter was easily one of the best songs sent to Eurovision this year. It is insane that it was last place. Do Europeans not have ears?
Apparently they were all between 11th and 15th place in the televote, which unfortunately means they got no points despite no country thinking they were last
@@KyrieFortune Yeah, if everyone thinks you are average or slightly above average, you get no points for that.
I think it's a taste thing when it comes to the European music scene.
Do we have ears? Well no, not after that screaming noise of Germany this year...
@@ahsuniverseslays did you not pay attention to that final growl... That was the best sound of the whole 2023 contest, possibly ever!
Calling something noise because you don't like it, just shows the many ways of music you still need to learn to appreciate. 😊
old songs >>>>>>
Norway this year probably provided the best last place song of all time. I think the rock community was pushing so hard for Croatia they forgot how good Norway were
Croatia's song was such a banger. Perfect mix of aggression and fun, and most importantly, it was catchy. Norway's song had no hook imo, and the band sounded like they were riding the wave of Sempiternal by BMTH, which is 11 years old at this point. Stale. From someone who was completely new to both acts, there was no competition. Sorry if that sounds harsh 😂 Just my opinion.
@@Chris_Tinacan oh yeah don’t get me wrong Norway’s performance didn’t touch Croatia. Maybe it’s because I like seeing alternative acts in Eurovision clouding my ears but personally I can think of at least 5 acts off the top of my head that weren’t close to Norway. I found it quite fun, the last minute was beautiful to me, vocals were wailing a little too much which is why I don’t rate it all that highly. The climax carried the song for me, obviously didn’t carry it very far but you know what I mean 😂
Baby Lasagnia was overrated. It was fun, but nothing special or original. Sth between Rammstein and Limp Bizkit.
indeed.... I was surprised it didn't even beat the 200 (at least it felt that way) generic ballads that have sounded the same for almost 70 years now....
Norway's track had a serious weak point.
The chorus...
It was very "empty".
Germany this year might be one of if not, the most undeserved last place entry ever. I thought it would do well and I even voted for it.
Totally Undeserved Last Place
just don't say you liked it. it was very bad! in Europe, not everyone likes Rammstein-like rock, so they deservedly took last place.
@@paul_paveBut when Finland or Iceland or idk send something like this it gets loads of points. Bit two faced I think.
@@takethat.barlow_fans9541 it's not Bit Two faced, it's just that Finland is the best rock country in Eurovision. and unlike Germany, she knows how to make songs of this format.
from Germany I liked last year's song the most, then I was really surprised that Malik took the last place.
Someone’s gotta get last place
Germany since 2015:
2015: last
2016: last
2017: second to last
2018: 4th
2019: second to last
2021: second to last
2022: last
2023: last
As a german, I'm disappointed that we were so good in 2018. I'm sorry. We will try to continue to be bad. But seriously, the NDR shouldn't be allowed to decide who will go to the esc anymore.
2018 screwed up our statistics. Not even in flop 10! 😭
😂 I love Germany!
I guess we are not even able to fget the last hatrick. Allthough we again try it hard this year.
@@olmaBLN Screwed up the hattrick again. 😭
@@citizen.lifescience Same over here in Britain! Sam Ryder fucked it all. Bugger nearly won too which would have been a disaster
1975 Turkish entry is a beloved classical song now in Turkey. Didn't deserve the last place.
Turkey 87 sounds nice and catchy too...
That song was perfect. So unfair.
O Jardim and blood & glitter did not deserve last at all🥲🥲 2 of the most underrated entries of all time imo
Many underrated songs in my opinion.
My TOP 5 Of Last 5 Eurovision Last Places 2019 - 2024:
5. Malik Harris "Rockstars"
4. Michael Rice "Bigger Than Us"
3. James Newman "Embers"
2. Gåte "Ulveham"
1. Lord Of The Lost "Blood And Glitter"
Some of them were amazing lol
I love Germany for being unapologetic 😂😂. They stick with their hard rock and they don't give a damn. RESPECT❤
Blood and Glitter was actually good
O jardim is one of my all time favorite esc songs ❤
1982 was so cool!!
Black Smoke in 2015 : beautiful song. Didn't deserve 0 point whatsoever!
I really thought blood and glitter would be in the top 10
if the countrys don't like it then we are not top 10 feels already like a personal thing to germany
@@DieKiwi. idk I personally loved that
@@dim0000 nice to hear that well some people love it some don't i hope we do it better next year
Some of these songs are pretty catchy so the high ranking ones must be pretty good
I still love Jamie Lee song! The staging and performance could be different, but the song and her timbre are great
Eurovision is seriously weird because the vast majority of these songs are actually really good! Especially the ones before the early 2000s.
The very early stuff I didn't care about, because it's entirely outside of my taste in music. That phase from 2000 to 2014 was downright painful at times though.
@@helgeschneider4417 2000-2016 is literally when ESC peaked what are u on
Blood and glitter was my favourite song this year besides Cha Cha Cha
Lord of the Lost loved Cha Cha Cha so much they made a cover of the song 👍🏻
the late 50s ones was actually quite good
The old ones are so classical. No weird staging, uniforms, just a signer and their voice
And the music was played live. Each artist was represented by an orchestra, and the countries brought their own conductor
@@solwidotnl It was also just movie score music (not to be conflated with classical music), i'd say since at least 1980 it gets actually much more diverse in that regard - also what's wrong with weird
@@ovi1326It has become more about staging but I think that's creative as well.
Wonderful
But the music sucked
Lord of the Lost my forever german number 1. Rock never dies.
Finland won with Lordi as their entry, and Lordi is very metal.
What great songs and great singers. And the fantastic orchestrations, especially in the early years when everything was still played live. You mustn't forget that just taking part in this competition requires a lot of skill. And behind every singer is a large group that has chosen them to be there.
Eurovision: Someone has to come last.
Norway: Hold ølen min
1966 Tereza looks like a Starfleet officer from Vulcan.
One thing has always been crystal clear - results in ESC often has been wrong and unfair and nothing to do with quality. Many excellent songs have been last. Not because they are bad - But because they are not commercial. Honour to the composers who make quality Music regardless of result 🎶💛🎤🎸😃
Lord of the Lost is one of the most growing bands in metal right now. It goes to show Eurovision has no idea about good music.
Eurovision did award Lordi 1st place in 2006. They are super metal, but I get your point. They mainly vote for pop and singer/song writer stuff, at least when it comes to straight music acts.
Why are these songs so good??
2024 and 2023 last places were literally some of the best songs in the competition. great performances, just not what the crowd was ready for.
Blood and glitter was literally amazing song. But that score is unbeliveable.
10:24 became a historic song in Portugal, as it was used to start the revolution that toppled the dictatorship.
Didn't expect to see Austria and Netherlands so often
You know Eurovision is a top tier song contest when even the last place songs are so good I want them all on Spotify
Germany Ann Sophie from 2015 so good !
My favorite by this year, listen this song till now
I liked it. Definitely shouldn’t have been a 0 points, but she had such a great attitude. A good sport indeed!
“Blood and Glitter” was so robbed
Maybe they don't like men with feathers
We need more metal in this world
Lord of the Lost getting last place is literally the most infuriating and unwarranted last place ever
UK should've been last this year. Lord of the Lost is climbing my rankings of this year and is currently sitting in my top 15 (including songs that didnt make it to the finals).
Still better than tattoo
Lord of the lost was awesome ❤
A lot of excellent performances!
Remedios Amaya's song has been an all-time favorite of mine since 1983. Amazing performance.
Certains des vieux derniers sont mieux que des premiers d'aujourd'hui !
I thought Germany had a reputation for always finishing last, but man does Norway have a history of being shit on in that regard since the 60s lmao. This year's result is less surprising, after watching this video.
Не знаю почему у Великобритании в 2021 и Германии 2022 мало баллов, я кайфанула с этих песен(
As a German I don't care that we got last. This besides 2018 was the first time in 10 years that we got to be exited for our result as unlike the last couple years our last place this year was much more unexpected! I am very proud of Lord of the Lost! Not only did they bring an excellent performance on stage but they also showed so much love and engagement for the contest! They really couldn't have done a better job! Sure, the last place stinks, but at the end it's just a number and it doesn't change how much they slayed!
And they’re touring with Iron Maiden as well! There is clearly plenty of demand for them! I personally love them too.
Love you Germany, our brothers and sisters greetings from Kattowiz, Poland 🇵🇱🇩🇪🏳️🌈
Best German entry for ages 💛🎶🎸
They were honestly so amazing, I was so sad when they got last.
i loved the growth that germany had from singing about wanting to be rock stars to having actual rock stars... sadly anyone who is famous outside of eurovision usually doesnt do well in eurovision.. see darude and cascada as prime examples.
2024: Norway extends their streak to 12 last-place finishes, with Gate's "Ulveham" getting 16 points.
I love how Portugal joined for the first time already got last place 😅
As well as Lithuania in 1994
@@MustiiForTheWin Oh didn't notice that, thank you for telling ❤️
It was so robbed tho. Don’t get why it did so badly, as with many of their earlier entries. It really seemed like juries had a bias against Portugal 🇵🇹 at the time because songs like that performed by other countries would do so much better. It is actually kind of amazing now they are such a jury powerhouse seeing that they keep doing similar things to what they have pretty much always done. They used to be so underrated, glad they aren’t any more. They are honestly among my fave countries in Eurovision as they are so genuinely themselves and do so the best quality consistently (unlike others).
@@aijamberisabel So true, you said everything ✨✨
@@aijamberisabel Oração was my 1964 winner ;)
1974 Paulo de carvalho - E depois do Adeus. This last place is an anthem for the 74 Portuguese Revolution. The song is beautiful with an unbelievable number of covers. One of your best all-time songs.
It's incredible that something like Lord of the Lost got the last place... it's such an eurovision song.
Can't be the song, must be the country...
I will never understand how Finland 2009 was last
Such a great song
Me neither it deserved better fr
Didn't you already do a "Germany in Eurovision" video? 😅
Very interesting!!! Thank you! 🙏
23:52 Just Doo IIt for your loverrrr
Lord of the Lost: "We do fall before we rise." 2023 last place. 2024 12th place. These lyrics make sence now!
Well, that band went straight into a plane after their performance, to continue their world tour (which they paused for ESC) with sold out venues. And their album Blood & Glitter, that just dropped out of the german top 10 album charts, shot right back in to No. 1 right after too, so...
I was there in Latvia when UK got zero in 2003 - I met them. She was coked up to her eyeballs. He tried to save the performance but she was so off key it stood out so much!
Certainly one of the worst performances ever. Only Madonna was more off key.
blood and glitter kicked ass
Lord of the Lost got robbed af, they were so good :')
Finland 1965 looks like Abraham Lincoln and William Dafoe smashed together løl
Justice for Germany ❤. Lord of the Lost didn't deserve the last place...

I will never understand how such a beautiful and vocally perfect performance as “O Jardim” finished last.
Same as Antes do adeus in 1997
Same as Complice in 2008
Being last in your own country must be embarassing
I am Portuguese and I hate o Jardim, but we deserved better, since the top 2 that year was crap
One of the best ballads in eurovision tbh
I went to the Blood and glitter tour, that was a great concert. Love that German industrial vibe with a cabaret touch.

2022 was a good song
Some of the early "last place acts" don't strike me as being all that bad, they just sound like lounge singers on a cruise ship, lol.
Twin Twin got last place in 2014
I ADORED that song beyond sanity
@schlagerlucas du hast dir ganz schön viel arbeit gemacht. es hat sich gelohnt. danke für das tolle video!
Getting last place with 39 points is some feat!
It's a shame because a lot of the time the lowest scoring song isn't bad, far from it. It just ends up being overshadowed by other songs and fan-favorites that year. The fact these songs even made it to the final is an achievement in itself and I hope they felt proud regardless
Waldo's People was good tho. 2009 was gold.
