I've noticed that a lot of Americans have prejudices against certain dogs they categorise as "pitbulls", but I think it comes down to dog ownership culture in your country. In my country we encourage responsible dog ownership, and dog attacks are very uncommon. Blame your culture, don't blame an animal.

What is it with these pitbull owners refusing to take accountability, never mind not keeping them on a tight leash? Just the other day, I was in line waiting to purchase an item from the dollar tree, and this guy was right in front of me and had a pitbull but did not keep her on a leash. Regardless of whether or not your dog is a big dog or small one, you should ALWAYS keep them on a leash, and there's a reason for that. Even if they are well trained, there are times when dogs will hear things that we don't that will freak them out and then they can will do a complete 180 and act erratically.
It's why pitties get a bad wrap. Because these types of irresponsible people seek out a "tough dog" and don't train them/praise their aggression. I knew a lady from my old church who had FIVE rescue pitbulls and she gave each one so much love, attention and training and they were the best dogs. Most pittie owners I know have them chained up outside or in tiny kennels just barking like crazy (I can literally hear my neighbor's pit going off right now from her 4x4 kennel).
someone told me that you can never figure people out and the things that they do....to me, it comes down to alot of people in general dont know any better wether young and or old...and also that they dont care even when they get caught.... they will keep doing what they do...

It's not just pitbull owners, the other day I got bitten by a dog (I dont know what type it is), and the owners refused to take responsability, accusing me of exagerating while i was bleeding. I'm suing them but i was shocked by their inhuman reaction.

Judge Judy's instruction is very clear. You can have your dangerously deadly dogs and expose them to you and your family, but you can't impose them on other people.
I love when people have videos. When the Plaintiff was complaining about being harrassed, it wasn't very effective. However, the video as they say, "is worth a thousand words". Even if the defendant was threatened by the plaintiff, or one of her friends, to tell people, their kids are gonna get it and talking about wanting to harm their children because you’re angry is a sign that you should seek some immediate professional help for yourself. It is not a normal reaction to want to harm people’s kids because they’re mad that your dog attacked theirs and they took action.
Wait she sued for $2,500 and did the Judester just award her $3,000!? Damn... Judy was in a giving mood that day 🤣

I have never seen a pitbull case where she hasn't explicitly said the whole breed is dangerous and a liability. She used to keep news stories of "friendly" pit bulls that snapped and maimed or killed an owner or a child on her desk. She absolutely hates the breed and thinks anyone that owns them is a moron.

I’m sorry to say this, but I’m terrified of those dogs after a childhood incident. They are dangerous animal, period! And to those of you who constantly say, Aahh!! They are harmless, mine would never harm anyone! Yeah right! Like if they know their psyche or what they are thinking, some people treat their animal as human beings, and they are not.

I heard many stories of pitbulls that were raise right and been with the family since they were a pup, but still one day snapped and bit the owner or a child. That happened to a family that owned one, raised by them for years, but one day snapped and killed their young daughter. Very sad...

She's right about a lot of things. But her stand on pit bulls isn't correct. Dogs will attack other dogs and people. And the inflated "bite reports" come from misidentification. Hardly anyone can actually look at a group of dogs and point out a real pit bull dog. Anything that even slightly resembles one gets pits blamed for attacks. I seen a video of a dog attack a child. People said PIT BULL. The dog turned out to be a Chow Lab mix.

@m42037 Yeah. They can be. But lots of dogs can be. Other countries can barely recognize a pitbull. It's why a lot of dogs that aren't pits get collected and their owners have to fight to get them back.

@@jessicat6758So very true that all dogs are capable of this, but it seems Pit Bulls are the breed that more often attacks, maims and kills without a valid reason, no matter how much love and gentility owners may give them or how much they do their best to raise them to be gentle & peaceful dogs. Only speaking according to actually witnessing, reports, videos all over the world that not all, but many have had a tendency to do these things more regularly/often than other breeds. Although they are adorable dogs, we must be a bit more careful & attentive, if we choose to own that breed of dog.

Plaintiff's young and shy witness was mumbling and JJ said nothing. Usually she demands they speak up. I could not hear what she reported but I sort of figured out the both pitts attacked her dog and a man with a chair clobbered them until they left. Defendant stood there trying to look like she she was being so sweet and picked on, but the video sealed her fate for sure. Do not threaten your nieghbors. Even when enraged, you will always look like a certified fool.

I'm usually 100% with Judge Judy... except in this case, she had incorrect info about homeowner's insurance in regards to pit bulls. Yes, some insurance carriers still cover all dogs, including pit bulls.(as long as the owner provides the information and agree to the extra cost... usually around $200 extra per year, at least in my area) However, I absolutely do not believe that pit bulls and other known dangerous dogs belong in residential areas. Why take the chance? Yes, I'm sure 90% of them are good dogs... but what the 10% who may end up mauling another dog... or worse, a child. :(

I think the problem is that any dog *could* bite but few can cause the irrevocable harm that a bully breed can inflict. Also they are one of only dogs that lock their jaw. Some people are happy to take that risk but don’t take necessary steps to ensure their dog doesn’t harm others. Many dog owners fail to train and socialize their dogs properly but with bully breeds (and other large dogs) there needs to be regulations that ensure you do.
Lock jaw is a myth. No animal can lock their jaw, pits are just tenacious. And there are many other breeds that can do way worse damage than a pit bull. Pits actually have one of the lower bite forces out many other breeds.
That is a myth, lockjaw is a medical condition. Some breeds are simply more determined to hold on and not release their bite. The danger of bully breeds is human error and idiotic owners who are careless and refuse to properly train their animals.

JJ is absolutely correct, there's only one insurance company that allows you to have pitbulls with a disclaimer and that's state farm and if your dog ever bites or attacks anyone or anything they will drop you like a bad habit.
While some insurers deny coverage for certain dog breeds across the board, others decide to cover homes with otherwise high-risk breeds on a case-by-case basis. These insurers include:
State Farm: The insurer does not require you to disclose the breed of dog you have when you are purchasing a home insurance policy. It makes a decision based on your individual pit bull's previous behavior.
Allstate: Its practices involving dog breeds are similar to State Farm. Your pit bull can be included under your home insurance liability coverage, but that could change if your dog misbehaves in the future.
USAA: It covers your pit bull if the dog has a history of good behavior. The downside of USAA is that it only provides insurance for enlisted military members, veterans and their families.
The practice of prohibiting coverage based on a dog's breed is slowly decreasing. Michigan and Pennsylvania have passed legislation that prohibits insurers from denying coverage based on breed alone. More states, such as Massachusetts and New York, are planning to pass similar legislation.
@@jalinaswansong826 I don't know what state you're in but here in Louisiana Allstate does not allow pitbulls, i can't reference USAA because it's meant for military members not the general public. I had a tenant who had a pitbull and didn't tell me and he likely didn't on purpose because no insurer allows them here except for state farm and I strictly prohibit them, I told him either the dogs had to go or they all had to go immediately, the dog is actually banned in that city and the one I live in, so are Rottweilers. As a little girl walking and minding her own business my cousin was mauled by a pitbull, luckily it didn't get her face or neck, if you're even suspected of having a pitbull in this city you have to get a blood test or surrender the dog.
They should not allow it at all! Their bite and KILL risk is VERY HIGH and it is only a matter of time before they seriously injure someone or their pet. That includes the owner - they have killed many of them as well. I would never issue insurance to a pitbull owner - unless everything about it was disclaimed under the policy.
I don't understand why people have dogs if they're just going to chain them up outside. Those poor dogs need better owners.

Dogs are such huge liabilities. They don't like each other and are always looking for a fight. I was almost attacked by a chihuahua, all dogs are dangerous regardless of size. I'll never get a dog in my lifetime 🤦🏽♀️

I used to believe that it was the breed but the human. Thats BS. Adopted a 6 week rednose, by the time she was 9 months, she killed 3 small dogs. After that, $$$$ on training, separated from other dogs. She turned on us. We placed her in a rescue, she ended up killing 2 more dogs, and turned on the handler. We tried everything.
We will never own another pit.

Bad owner gets bad dogs. Same bad parent get bad kids. All these little ones need to teach them humble and be nice to others. Speak and guide them properly at all time + that is default duty of being their seniors. Don't control them with money or treats. If cannot hold this responsibility for life, then don't have them.
