“Cheap AR’s” from reputable companies are not “cheap”. They are service rifles that are affordable and reliable like AR’s are supposed to be. No need for $2500 boutique cream whip fluff…You know, the ones nobody scratches or gets dirty…the ones protected and coddled like a purse poodle. 🙄
@ Short answer, “yes” with normal wear and tear parts being replaced as needed like on any AR. Note that I did not say just any Frankenstein AR cobbled together with the most inexpensive catalog parts by the neighborhood gun mechanic. I said from “reputable companies”…Ruger, S&W, etc. Bolts and barrels are replaceable/expendable parts. That is going to happen at some point to any AR. A good 4150 barrel can last as little as 6000 rounds before needing replacement. That includes the cream whip fluff. Do it as needed. A decent trigger group, a good barrel, and a vetted bolt and you are good to go. Spend your money as you wish but “need and want” are very different.

See you trolling every comment. They aren't that bad and some Ruger firearms are above standard. Maybe you one of them that disliked rugers capacity limits from the past??@@Rubeless
Got a Double Star and never had any issues at all.
Before Pandemic 8546 ruger was a DEAL😮AND A VERY GOOD AR😊
My Radical has given me less issues than my MK-18, so yeah i trust cheap ar's.
The misses on the 2L hurt me; like watching your dog look up at the tailgate.
Good thing Hickock45 can still make the same shot with a trusted pistol on accident.
I got a Ruger ar556 back in June. It's not a low budget. $900 isn't a low budget ar. A low budget would be $300.
Where have you seen an AR for 300?
@johnhickok45
A few places .
J&G , Sportsmans Guide to name a couple
It’s less than half the cost of a mid priced AR of $1800-2200.
I trust an inexpensive rifle any day. I trust my old cheap Toyota tundra to get me back and forth to work daily, and I need that more than I need a rifle.
What about the Del-ton..I have one and love it..
Good lard
I’ve always been a Ruger fan. Quality firearms for a reasonable price. My Rugers are every bit as reliable as my Glocks, Sigs, Colts, S&Ws, Beretta, Marlins … and the price is significantly better.
There's a difference between "cheap" and affordable.
I wouldn’t call a Ruger 5.56 a bugdet rifle. I’d say mid tier. It’s a really good rifle.
It’s an entry level gun at best. If you ran that ar hard for weeks, you’d understand
Life is good!

1:15 , On a nice roll indeed
Currently putting together an ar for about 360 bucks out the door and yes. I will trust it. The cheap upper i got passes spec everywhere it matters…
This old man can shoot.......👍👍👍💯
Depends. At home, where warranty is only 1 phone call away, many are good enough. On the battlefield, or in a 'SHTF' shituation, it's a different story, no?
No problems with my Dollar General AR , over 20,000 rounds.
Sure.
That 2 liter stood there and defiantly mocked you for multiple shots. I admire that 2 liter. But yeah I keep a DPMS with a $100 red dot/laser and a $50 light on it by the bed. I know it works very well and anyway... I'm not going to Iraq with it, just to sleep.
Those of us that run our weapons hard need cream whip fluff. You think this rifle would last five years and 20,000 rds?
You simply can go wrong with that rifle. Or a Smith & Wesson M&P15.
You can?
You are correct, you can go wrong buying budget.
If it is Ruger then I trust it.
see if you can find a Serbian M-70AB2 the heavy duty AK variant. quite a heavy gun even as a under folder.
