Wildwood NJ used to have Castle Dracula/Dracula's Castle, a dark boat ride/walking tour that opened in the late 70's. Unfortunately it burned down in 2002. I remember it also had an animatronic Count Dracula who would come out onto his balcony. I miss that Castle! It was awesome.
i love people watching, while watching your videos. So many people do not realize they are in the presence of a legend and just give weird looks when they see the camera. I'd be ecstatic if I was somewhere and crossed paths with The Carpetbagger.
I was there in wildwood when Jacob was there! I was so damn excited to see him I started having an asthma attack. 🤣😅 I’m autistic so I was also awkward as hell 🤣🤦🏻♂️ He was very gracious and I got a pic with him!
It was great seeing you on the Wildwood Boardwalk Jacob. I’m glad I got to meet you and be in your video at the end. I am the one driving the Gig Sighteer Tramcar at the end of the night. The Wildwoods is a great place to explore.
Thanks for posting Jacob. I’m from Wildwood. Great to see the boardwalk getting recognition. My dad was the bread man of the wildwood boardwalk.. the one year anniversary of his death is approaching. I needed this video so badly. I miss my home almost as much as I miss my dad. Thank you so much. RIP Chip. The boardwalks first season without you in 20 years… she’s still thriving dad!

Vacation in Wildwood all the time. The Tram Cars are actually from the 1939 World's Fair. They've been updated a little over the years but they have some history before coming to The Wildwoods. Also, you have to try Sam's Pizza and Mack's Pizza. One of the fun things people like to do is argue which one is better. Both are iconic pizzerias to Wildwood.
Amazing place. Loved Dante's dungeon that was an awesome dark ride . Moe's Tavern looked like a lot of .fun. Thanks for taking us along Keep Safe ❤Keep Well❤
I love Wildwood. Our family went there every year. Then I took my family there ever since. I have seen rides change year after year. The Hunts Pier used to have a Roller Coaster,A Train and the Gold Nugget ride. They are all gone now but the coal cars from the Nugget Ride are now at Knoebels Coal Mine Ride. You can never go wrong in Wildwood.
What beautiful flash on these attractions! (Flash is the carney term for the deco on a ride or attraction facade.) Thanks again for a wonderful expedition!
You were just up the road basically from Cape May, where I was born, they have some great whale watching tours, an amazing lighthouse, and you can find Cape May Diamonds just off the beaches, or some Cape May Diamond jewelry around town that Jen may like.
I’m 47 and I grew up and still live near Philly and have been to Wildwood many times since I was a little kid. The true running gag down there is the “watch the tram car, please!” announcement. It has been the EXACT SAME recording with the same voice since I was little 40+ years ago - and probably for many years before that!
I am glad that you had a chance to visit Wildwood and enjoyed your time. This video was much needed today. My family went to Wildwood for the first time when my mom was pregnant with me and we went 21 consecutive summers staying at the same place. The last time we were there as a family was 2001. The motel we stayed at became individual condo units. That skull/octopus facade you were intrigued by has been there since the late 80s/early 90s. If I am remembering correctly it was a pirate themed dark ride called Den of Thieves.
loved this video! We were there 2 weeks ago.(stayed in the hotel next to Grab a Weiner) Sorry I missed you, though I would have totally disrupted your filming bc I would have to acknowledge the amazing Carpetbagger!! Thanks for all the great work you do.
I've been to Wildwood Crest nearly 50 years ago or longer. Don't know about this portion. Fantastic though. Wiildwood was my favorite beach as a teenager and 20's.
Love that you always visit wildwood . My down the shore trip every summer as a kid . Ocean city isn't far from wildwood .has 2 nice peirs of rides also . 👌 oc is in better shape than wildwood nowadays . Those water tanks have been there since I was 9 years old maybe longer . I'm almost 40 now and they're in the same exact spot. I wish they would rebuild castle Dracula 🏰. Classic attraction
My friend and I went to Dante's Dungeon about 30 years ago. A guy popped out with a Freddy Kruger glove, my friend tried to rip it off him. I miss the fun back then.
I've been to Wildwood so many times and EVERY SINGLE TIME Pirates of Wildwood has been closed. I never ever got to experience it. How cool! You lucked out. And that pirate ship haunted walk thru has always been closed as well
I was stationed in cape may and pretty much lived in wildwood lol. Dracs Castle was there and the "new" rollercoaster was the hurricane or something like that. Also you could ride Gravedigger monster truck.
Best fries on the Boardwalk. I cant believe you didn't ride the Great White Coaster!!! My favorite ride in Wildwood. I hope you got some Waffles and Ice Cream. Great Wildwood tradition!!!
I wish you would have visited there in the '80s, it was fantastic. tons of dark rides. if you ever decide to go there again you should talk to somebody who can fill you in on some of the history. it's really a great place.
Always a treat when you visit a place I've been to! This video got me so excited. Wildwood holds a special place in my heart, so glad you enjoyed the boardwalk and piers!
Damn, Carpetbagger in my neck of the woods! Haven't been to "Childwood" in years. Too busy working in the summer season. Glad you had a blast! And like some others said, hit up Cape May, NJ too. Ya gotta see the concrete ship....well, the tiny bit that's left! Cheers!
Glad you got to tour my old stomping grounds of Wildwood. The sad thing is the music express ride used to have a killer Judas Priest mural on the back wall. God I miss that beautiful slice of art.
@@sebbie153 I just came back from WW, from the Fireman's Convention this past Sunday. I was visiting my mother (who lives on Talyor Ave.) had a great time
As a kid I used to love looking at the exterior of this ride but be too scared to open my eyes on the ride itself, so it's nice to see a videos of whats actually in there lol
The “Sister” ride to Dante’s was the version that was formerly at Astroland, in Coney Island NY. I was lucky enough to get a walk thru that one, which had a rare “Devil Man” prop that had to be from an older dark ride. Last I heard, it is still for sale and sitting in storage. Great facades on both of them!
I first rode Dante's Dungeon in 2006. I was 13 and I'll admit the end air jets made me scream. In 2011 my friend and I did both Ghost Ship and Curse of the Mummy 3D (which closed in 2011). Mummy 3D still managed to get 2 scares out of me but Ghost Ship was awesome.
I live in Jersey and I haven't been to Wildwood in season since I was in high school. I always seem to end up on the boardwalk well after locals summer. I think I might need to change that! Hope you enjoyed your time here!
The tram cars of Wildwood have been in operation since 1949! They were originally created for the 1939 New York's World Fair and were brought to Wildwood by a local business owner.
The display with the giant octopus used to also have a pirate ship with a talking pirate, and it would actually shoot smoke out like cannons firing! That part has been gone for awhile now though.
When Bagger goes through these dark rides, as he's commentating, he sounds like a dad reviewing his kid's work before placing it on the fridge. "Oh wow, a ghost flew out. That's very Scary..." lol
In Australia here we also gotten the gravatron ride I absolutely loved that ride ever since I was in my preteens life span altogether in Australia here
The Tilt-A-Whirl is still a regular model, just has the modernized cars with locking bars. I think the company still sells both versions of tubs, if you ever get back to Hersheypark, check out their Whip ride, it actually uses essentially those same modern Tilt cars.

Those were the days
Dante's dungeon is a far cry from Dracula's Castle. I'm just sad that rumors of rebuilding the castle were false.
That castle scared me as a kid lol!
I wish Jacob got to experience the Castle!
That brings back memories. The organ music was enough to keep me away from that place as a kid.

I went to Henry’s Doorly zoo right around the time he uploaded that video and I tell ya, I still to this day am so sad
I was so close to meeting him
Those side eyes are because he looks like a lone creepy predator at a children's park.

Glad you enjoyed the fries in malt vinegar! It's great when you learn tips and tricks from other travelers.
Ha, we were down there Aug 16th, 17th and 18th... very much enjoy wildwood
Once upon a time loved the Castle Dracula Dungeon Boat Ride. Burnt down over 20 years ago. Best dark ride ever!

Cygnus X1. An X-ray source in the constellation Cygnus. Also possibly a nod to the rock band Rush. It's the name of one of their songs.
