The Roland TD4K V-Drum Kit takes over where the TD-3 left off except that the TD-4 has a host of new features and four times the wave memory of its predecessor ... There's also a new re-enforced drum stand that's still just as lightweight and compact but now a whole lot stronger, aside from the new stand Roland have supplemented the TD-4 with a centre mounted sound module that contains new sounds and sensors within the pads that have an even greater degree of touch sensitivity ...
The snare pad has a patented mesh head for improved feel and resonance, whilst the toms and cymbals are velocity sensitive with the cymbals also having a "choke" capability.The TD4K is also expandable to include an optional pad or if preferred the user can replace the ride cymbal to a CY-12R/C 3-way trigger V-Cymbal, the kit is also compatible with the optional VH-11 V-Hi-Hat which can be mounted on a conventional hi-hat stand.
Pre-programmed kit patches can be customised by the ability to tune and dampen each drum to the user's own preference whilst ambient effects such as reverb can also be controlled to suit the occasion.To improve your playing skills Roland have also included their acclaimed Coach Mode which tests and trains drumming skills such as timing, accuracy and stamina. The Coach programme offers a diverse range of drumming excercises that can run for 5, 10 or 15 minutes and are ideal as warm-up routines for live gigs or studio sessions ...

That's for sure. It is an awesome kit with a decent module that you can upgrade later. It's the same kit as the TD-9. I'm getting this once I go off the university in the new few years.

wow! johnny rabb is so sick demo-ing these roland v-drums! makes it look real fun and easy! he's great on live drums as well!
This guy is as tight and precise as Buddy Rich. Whatever program that's installed to gauge precision is obviously off. He was right dead on point, 100%. This review convinced me to buy the set off of eBay on August 7, 2017.
One thing about people that demo these kits, they have an insane knowledge of different drum styles and patterns. The versatility is impressive. Wondering about the "time coach" though because I would imagine that if you have any swing, it wouldn't show 100% on time but it wouldn't be wrong.

Can you hook it up straight to your mac through midi usb or do you need an audio interface? I have logic 9 on my mac I would like to hook up to my mac so I can record through logic. Please help.... thank you

@Sephaer the mesh pads for the 2 toms and floor bass is not required since you dont really hit the rim that often, i suggest getting the regular td-4 and buy another cymbal to add for a china and also another bass pedal because td-4kx only has 1 pedal although it is displayed with 2

@Myrdred001 i got the kit and have just ordered the CY-12 R/C, and no you can´t have the 2 cy-8 and a cy-12 because the cy-12 needs a second trigger cable to get the bell ... but of course you can have a third cymbal (also the cy-12 but without the cy-12's bell trigger)

Hey Johnny, thank you for that nice video! I have one question for you. I have the same drum kit but it doesn't sound like yours, so it's more electronic than your acoustic sound. What do you think I can check in order to set up my kit to acoustic sound? I checked different styles of drum kit but it doesn't work, I use JBL flip 2 headphones for outside sound, it seems that is also not the case.
does annyone know if you can plug in a extra cymbal to the set? sorry for my bad english i am swedish.

@moonlight4yuki I hope so! I'm getting the TD4K2, and am returning a set made by another company that had tons of great sounds (including China cymbals), fantastic price, but a module that does weird stuff- which is why I'm sticking to Roland, which I should have done in the first place!
Couple of questions: do you need a drum amplifier to hear this kit without headphones or is there a built in speaker? Also, if you are using a drum amplifier, what kind is it?

@CH1CK3NSPAZZ Nice. Cause i play the HD-1 at my drums school, and i must say, i LOATHE to play on it. Yet, it sounds pretty damn good in videos. Is that the case with this one, and have you played the HD-1 to help me compare?

has anyone who has this kit gotten the cy-12 ride for it? i read a review that said that the cy-12 only has the 3 way(edge,bow,bell) compatible with the td9 and higher modules. so does anyone know is the cy-12 pad would have the bow,bell,ride zones on a td4 module? im really tired of having to beat the hell out of my ride to get a bell sound.

Hi mate, yeah you can play just about anything you want on them. This demo really doesnt do the kit justice. I play everything from rock to death metal on mine. I love it man!
Is there a dubble bass option on this kit or do I have to buy two pedals in order to play double bass? I'm planing on buying this amazing kit by the end of the month =)

Is reggae the only drum setting that gives the cross stick sound? And one other question, is it possible to set individual pads to different drum kit sounds, or do they all have to be the same one at the same time?
yeah, it's got an extra cord in the bunch of cords to put one more cymbal or pad. you just need to buy the pad or cymbal and it hooks in

yeah it might work, my friend has tried it and it worked for him with guitar hero: metallica :) and yeah the hi hat response is very close to a real hi hat and its not laggy at all.

I have little problem with those cymbals, when i hit cymbals to make continuing sound, if you know what or i hit the cymbals and then fast try to make a fill, the cymbals sound stops, i dont know, if those cymbals are played too long or it is the module ?
Problem is too much volume i think. Triggers dont love too much stage volume.
