►LYRICS - The Scientist
Come up to meet you
Tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are
I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart
Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh let's go back to the start
Runnin' in circles
Chasin' our tails
Heads on a science apart
Nobody said it was easy
Oh it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
And no one ever said it would be this hard
Oh take me back to the start
I was just guessin'
At numbers and figures
Pullin' the puzzles apart
Questions of science
Science and progress
Don't speak as loud as my heart
Tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh and I rush to the start
Runnin' in circles
Chasin' our tails
Coming back as we are
Nobody said it was easy
Oh it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
I'm going back to the start
Ahh ooooooh ooh ooh ooh oooh [x5]

Thanks again Liz
are you related to that scientist?🙈
@@stijndebruin4480 Haha, well, I definitely didn't get the science genes
@@Liz.Newton 🤣🤣🤣 maybe you just don’t know yet
Thank you Liz. You're the best.
I love Julianne's voice, but when Emmett came in I was blown away. Both of their voices are amazing, both separate and together. The Petersens have been a shining light during these these hard times..
Completely agree!
Amen to that Don
YUP! I read this comment before it happened. Yet I was still hit upside the head. He can sing, for sure.
Yes
This pops up in my search section almost daily and I watch it every time
Finding the Petersens was the highlight of 2020
Absolutely!
the only Highlight yes !!!!
The light amongst the darkness
indeed
Oh yeahh.....
Out of all The Petersens harmonizing together Julianne and Emmett's voices are the best.
I think Julianne and Emmett really complement each other in this song. Thanks Julianne for bringing this song. Emmett makes Julianne's voice stronger.
Emmett, dude you have to do more singing! Harmony was spot on!!!
Agreed!!!!
Agreed! I haven't heard him sing in a song yet, glad I did.
He’s a super star and doesn’t even know it.......yet
I’ve said this before, but PLEASE don’t ever stop recording these live. The vibe is so real, so good. Overdubs kill music. Never let a record producer destroy you.
Oh I so agree! “Perfect” music is not music; listening to computers has no soul.
That is so true. They put ther pure talent right out there to be appreciated and to inspire!
and no auto-tune!!! Most people don't even know what a song could sound like live anymore! No filters, no post production and indeed no overdubs ... literally what you see is exactly what you get. The imperfections makes it perfect!
Look forward to seeing you in person for my 60th birthday. Love you all
I agree. Nothing beats live music. There's a magic that over produced studio tracked recordings often lose and this from someone who has done studio engineering.
Momma played a powerful bass. Emmet paired with Julianne was a surprise. Totally worked.
Emmett has become one of my favorite artists of all. His singing is so unaffected - he sings like he means it.
I’m with you 100%, Gracee!
They are Each super stars . Each month I have a New favorite. But Together!!! WOW. I HOPE TO SEE THEM LIVE SOME DAY. I FIND IF I START LISTENING TO ONE SONG I GET HOOKED. THEN FOR THE NEXT HOUR JUST WANTING TO HEAR MORE.. THANK YOU ALL. SO MUCH.
Emmett doing some harmony vocals. Such a rare occasion.
Vocês são fantásticos.
Coldplay é porreiro e Keane!?
Espero que estejam bem
@@jonstolarski You obviously don't understand the music business, even a little. The band is called The Petersens, Emmett is a hired sideman. Bands are rarely ever a Democracy and those that are, don't last. I've been doing this for 47 years. I am a singing Bassist and unless I book, organize and hire a band, which I have done, I am a sideman who is a hireling and does only what he's told or asked to do. Sometimes I'll sing harmonies all night long, other times I may be asked to front the band and sing a few and other times I just play and don't sing at all. It's not up to me, it's up to the one in charge and that's generally the one handling the booking until such time you are so busy that you must hire management. Each situation is unique to itself but at the same time can be quite similar and completely predictable once you understand the business and weigh that against human nature i.e. band politics and bad people's habits. It's one of the few industries where one can drink all night at the job and this causes more trouble and wrecks more bands than you could ever imagine. Far more than hard drug use, believe it or not. I've seen it all.
Indeed Gary he is a brilliant musician as we know, but also a talented vocalist.
@@bassmangotdbluz3547 I understand the music business as I was part of it in my early years. What you say on the business side has merit. You also admit situations are unique, but overall you may miss the Christ centered family theme with these folks.
Don't get me wrong, I don't identify as any kind of theism, but I do understand how it supplies a guide to how they think.
Not too sure about that. Maybe you think so due to his louder vocal? If this is the case, it's simply a sound mixing issue.
A perfect song for Julianne and Emmett’s voice. That was awesome.
I thought so too.
I agree
I've watched a lot of their videos and Emmett has always been the quiet man on the slide guitar. So when he leaned into the mic and started singing in a really strong voice I was gobsmacked. Nice one Emmett !
Same
I enjoyed that part.
this is how i felt when i heard his songs the first time! love them all so much!!
Wow! I'm just now taking this one in for the first time. Completely blown away by the Julianne/Emmett vocal duet. Very well done, gang.👏👏👏👏👏
So excited to hear Emmett, what a beautiful voice. Hope to hear more in the future
This family is superhuman…this girl has an immensely soothing voice…I can’t imagine how proud you all are of each other…
They're humble, which is far more impressive.
I Love seeing the look of delight and pride in Katie and Ellen's Faces when Julianne sings.
me too!!
I was just noticing that. there is so much a love in that look Ellen gives her
Sisterly pride. They are lovely and supportive. Their parents deserve a great deal of recognition for their loving home and this beautiful group of brothers and sisters.
Yes!!! Always a pleasure to see how supportive and caring they are of each other! True family
... and I am another scientist in love, along with 10000 others. Your fans are diverse!
When Julianne is singing you can literally see the pride in Ellen’s eyes! I love this family! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes! Every time. Ellen beams when she watches her little sis sing! What love!!
Exactly. I love that about the sisters (The guys are great but not many facial expressions to read). Like on "No Roots" when Julianne is taking the lead, and Ellen has a beaming, knowing look that seems to be saying, "Baby sis isn't just singing, isn't just doing good. With that voice, she's gonna front this whole band. Ah shucks, she's just getting started. Y'all don't even know how good she's gonna be."
Absolutely, that is what I love about them. They are all so talented but there is no sign of jealousy just pride when one of them does a good job. They truly are unique. Beautiful God talent does not come this way often.
She knows Julianne has a very distinct and beautiful voice.
I was thinking the same thing. Sweet family!!
Nobody has complimented Katie on the violin/fiddle yet, so hear it goes Katie you blended in well with your mother on that number.
Beautiful music!
Yeah, Julianne knocked it out of the park.
Love how Ellen is always smiling, she has such a positive demeanour, terrific! :)
She has a beautifully haunting tone to her voice.
Her voice is a bit small. Beautiful Small voices are very common. The ones who make it huge solo are those that can hit the back of the stadium without a microphone and still be on key.
@@cnmckenna That's what the volume knob is for. Try it. It really works for her.
@@cnmckenna Check her Instagram. She does a rendition of Mr. Sandman and you can hear she does have a big voice in there somewhere. She just has to find it more often. She's young and will likely bring it out more as she matures.
Perfect !!
@@dantanner8442 Just needs a little more control but once her voice matures, watch out! It's really unique and intriguing. Emmett was a great complement to her voice here.
Julianne's voice gets better every time she sings. Brings tears of joy to my eyes and sweet music to my ears. And Emmett, Wow, Brother you have an AMAZING voice, not just the AWESOME dobro player on the side. Another Great Performance by The Petersens. God Bless The Petersens! God Speed!
So delicate
If you know of a more pure, musical voice you let me know...
I agree with you. Juliane is an angel...
This song really fits Emmet's voice, I was blown away! The rest of the gang wasn't half bad either. (wink)
Sometimes it's so beautiful that I can't keep myself from crying like a baby. When they sing and play, I feel the presence of God
What a beautiful duett between Emmet and Julianne. ♥️👍🐐☃️🐣😀♥️
Really nice this. She has the voice of Dolores O'Riordan of the cranberries (who sadly passed away)
Julianne’s voice would be perfect for a cover of a Cranberries’ song.
Oh my yes.
I had the same thought. Her infections are very Irish
Yes, would really love to hear them do Dreams.
Yes, Zombi would be perfect :-)
Right on! Dreaming my Dreams With You would be perfect. Little known song by the Cranberries, check it out.
*_Any listener can probably recognise Julianne's truly extraordinary voice immediately among 10,000 other singers. Julianne could, if she sang country, certainly become one of the big stars in this genre._*
I think no matter what genre she'll sing she's an incredible star. It would be best for her to just sing the style she likes doing most, pursue your dreams and ambitions :)
@Ian *_What should be fake?_*
@@merlin2754 *_Yes, I think every singer should feel connected to his songs, only then they are authentic._*
Emmett and Julianne….wow those tones are timeless! So precious and amazing ❤❤
More of "Mom" please. Especially when she is laying down a hauntingly beautiful backbone of bowing, like in this one. Brava!
These petersens man! I swear julianne could sing the alphabet and it would be 100% Emmett aswel love his voice! Only discovered them during lockdown and now i listen to them everyday!
That's my story too, helps me a great deal to listen to this wonderfully talented family
Me too! Listen every day!
Yep, me too!
Wow, this was incredible. Julianne and Emmett's voices are PERFECT for this song!
Yeah, they really compliment with this themed music.
I have watched this an obscene amount of times. Hauntingly beautiful.
Me too. Must be at least 20 times by now.
What determines obscene? Asking for a friend.
Emmett is stunning - incredible good voice and perfectly complementary to Julianne's. Love this cover version!
Wow. Julianne and Emmet make an outstanding pair of voices.
The luckiest person in the world has to be whomever is operating the camera. I would absolutely love to watch this amazing family perform in such an intimate setting.
Kudos for all the hard work that goes into these videos. Thank you for sharing with the world for free.
Emmett Franz...The Sound of Music, and Julianne...the perfection of vibrato
Julianne doesnt know how precious is her voice. her confidence is growing....and it is beautimous.
EMMETT,,, hitting the high notes ! I am once again speechless! Y’all are amazing
Man that was just beautifully executed. I don't even know what to say, I'm kinda in awe at the moment. I've never had song do that to me before. 😲
Julianne has a unique voice that really makes this stand out. The addition of Emmett only makes it more so. A great combination that hopefully will be together on other works.
Nothing compares to how the other musicians smile at the lead. They love her. So much. So do we. 😊
Who ever thought to put this combination of voices together for this arrangement is a genius. And it begins with Julianne! And how great is Mama on the bass with a bow!
Katie does most of the arranging.
No disrespect to Coldplay, but you guys outdo them on this one. Julianne picked a winner with this one, and you guys killed it
Not really, I never seen cover better than CP's original. With all my love to Petersens. This one beautiful in its own way.

I just came across this group recently and am hooked. I love how much they all seem to enjoy each other's playing. Also, this dobro player is phenomenal
You just stumbled upon one of the best acts on UA-cam
YES!! The Dobro BRO Is EXCELLENT!!!! They are all Talented. These two in this video NEED to do more duets...........

Mama on that bass 💯 hits the soul so hard
Not too many songs give me full body goose bumps, this one does even after listening twice. Extreme talent, all of you. Please keep going. Thank you
I got goose bumps as well, especially when the song builds in the middle and the third voice and banjo chime in with the deep strings in the background. Very emotional feeling ensues...
Must be the Coldplay....
Yeah. Me too! The Bose sound system on this comp cranks but it has it's limitations. Have to dig out my Sony MDRV6 "Studio Monitor" headphones (just had them "refurbished" not long ago).
Julianne, don't ever loose that voice. 1 in a billion.
I did, go back to the start. Around age 20-22 was where I’d lost it….picked it up again at the start when I turned 40. I’m now 59 and very pleased I did, go back to the start❤. Thx Petersens for the psychological Science reminder ❤.
This is one of the best musical performances I have ever heard in my life.
Her voice is perfect for any song she chooses (meaning what touches her heart). God has blessed this family.
Dolores O'Riordan must be smiling from the heaven. She has a perfect successor now. What a gift, Julianne!
Such a beautiful family and I love your classiness in this day and age. Class never goes out of style!
What a masterpiece!
The Double Bass line accented the piece sooooo well, it took the tone and dynamic of the arrangement to another level!!
When it first came in, I thought I heard a distorted guitar. What a neat tone it added, bowed.
So true. It added a sense of agitation.
Also loved Katie's additions also.
That's the speciality of The Petersens.
They add their bits into the original song without harming its aesthetics. ❤️
Ok this is getting to the point that i dont even know what to say anymore . I can say this was beautiful . But that dont even come close to describing what I just heard . There is more talent in this group of people than i have ever seen in my 61 years of life . And the love you can see and feel they have for each other . Every one of them can sing . And emmett , wow you out did yourself with this one .
The Petersens are a blessing, this is fantastic!!
Julianne and Emmett, this gave me the Goosebumps. Unbelievable!! Julianne, this is absolutely your sound. Wow!
I agree...their voices are amazing. I like this better than the original!
So many things to love in this one: the way the dobro came in, the vocals. Goosebumps when Emmett came in and then Ellen's soprano. But I want to thank Karen for the lush, sustaining warmth of the bowed contrabass. Git it, Mama!
Mama needs to be more seen!
@@NZdiagnostics Amen. Git it, Mama!
I agree about the bass...haunting. ;)
Using a bow on the bass creates an entirely different atmosphere. This song performed this way hits different.
I love hearing Emmett’s voice I would love to hear him more. All of the Petersens are so talented! Every voice is different and so special. The musical talent is incredible. God Bless you. 🙏🏼✝️🕊
I really like how he doesn't overpower Julianne with his voice and how he sings in a higher register to harmonize with hers. Very gentle with her as she comes across as so vulnerable in keeping with the vibe of the song. I also like the blue attire.

I have listened to this 40 times. I have always disliked this song but your cover made me absolutely fall in love with it. One of my favorite performances ever.
The thing I love so much aside from the music is watching the sisters' faces as they watch their other sister sing. Their smiles of encouragement, love and joy for their other sister are truly priceless. It doesn't matter which sister is singing, they each have a genuine smile on their face.
Cant agree more
WOW, another surprise , had to check it out... The Petersons are amazing how they can pretty much change any song to bluegrass
The bass just gives me goosebumps. I just can't stop playing this 😍

Why on Gods green earth would someone put a thumbs down?...What a great ethereal styling voice...heck I like this better than the original.

Emmett nailed this. And Julianne was wonderful. Great performance
I am so thankful that me and my husband got to see them live in Branson on our anniversary! It was a bucket list wish of mine to get to see them and it was truly special.
And do not forget: the bass played with a bow. Sounds beautiful!
"Just tilt it to the side, 'chello!' You got a bass" lol
I love that too. You don't hear it with the bow much in bluegrass.
haunting
I am constantly amazed by the musicianship of this group. One of these days I will travel to the U.S and see them live. No effects, no auto tune, no backups...just great music.
Julianne and Emmett's vocals are a perfect complement to each other. Love to hear more duets from these two incredibly talented musicians ! The entire family is incredible !
What a beautiful voice I get chills when she sings this song and her and Emmett just sound great together ❤️
Best harmonizing I've ever heard.
When the steel guitar guy starts singing, that absolute vibe!
Julianne’s and Emmett’s voices blend beautifully. I’d love to hear them sing Ian and Sylvia’s “Four Strong Winds” as it was originally recorded back in the ‘60s. Simple and quiet. Perfect.
You all have amazing voices! Love listening to you.

Rarely does a cover exceed the original. Until Now. Mandatory Listening. There are no words to describe just how totally AWESOME this is.
Each one of these musicians/singers could make it on their own. As a group they are AMAZING!!

I’m speechless and crying. Breathtaking
I've never seen Julianne sing so seriously, so grown up, so completely without her smile. This song seems to touch her. What she sang before was fun for her. Not this time. Thank you so much you all are great.

Prayers for you and your country. Hope you are doing okay.
Got to agree, the bass really made it!!
OK, I'm so blown away by you guys as I haven't heard any bad notes. Julliane your voice is so unique and I have never heard anything quite like it. Thank you for sharing and mom your bass playing with the bow is just exceptional. Clapping loudly and hope to see you in Branson some day
This is another wonderful way to start the week. With a song in which Julianne once again presents her fantastic voice, the week will be even better. Nice how Emmett can adjust his clear dominant voice, well done. Stroking the bass with the bow worked very well.

The Petersens are magical. Great job!
This group loves music, that's for sure, and day after day they transform this love into talent to share their benevolent and inventive vision of music. The arrangement on each piece is both simple and very effective. It seems to me that this is the mark of genius.
