Contemporary or otherwise, he just has really good delivery. Most comedians are bad (as are most of anything... 90% of everything is crud) so of course a good one is better than most.
This phenomenon actually creates a selection bias that many old people fall for. You tend to most strongly remember the artists you liked from your childhood, whereas during the present day you are generally aware of a wider quality spectrum of artists. So it seems like "back in my day" there were a higher percentage of good artists, when in fact that percentage remained about the same. Add to this that there are more people now -> more artists now -> more bad AND more good artists now, and it is really hard to look at objectively (especially since the goodness of an artist is subjective to begin with)
They’re all clean. He swapped the razor ones back in the bag. Slight of hand. He’s not going to make unnecessary risks for a show. No entertainer really does.
It’d be funny if when he was done eating the apple he looked at one of the ones in his hand and went “Oh wait.. this is the one with no razor blades in it.”
most people in the audience didn't know he had just taken a bite. That was a smooth trick, but they needed some kind of camera up close on his face, because he did it almost to smooth for most people to see from that distance
I could be wrong, but watching a lot of Penn and Teller gives me the impression that, sometime before biting down, he used slight of hand and swapped out the apples. Maybe in the quaaludes bit where he dropped them.
Have to agree with you there mate! I have seen him on a number of shows...over a number of years and his act remains the same....you can't do that for long...you have to continually develop any act. But for all that, it is a good act....once...or even twice, but after that? Ho hum! Yawn!
When Adele earns a million dollars a night singing "Someone Like You" exactly the same way every night in Vegas, is it because she doesn't know how to grow and develop her act, or is that performers do their BEST routines when they have important shows? Michael's routines had some variety that changed over time, but he obviously did his "greatest hits" when he was on TV, since most viewers had never heard of him.
TV and movies really changed the entertainment business. Used to be a lot of things where you'd just work on getting down *one* good routine, and that was what you needed because every time you'd perform for a different audience. I feel like this guy comes from that tradition.
This guy should be way more famous.
He is..... hahaa he's a legend!

Sadistic juggling always gets me :DD
Sadistic masochist
hmm, never knew i was a sadist. that's one of my favorite juggling techniques
It got me bursting out laughing.
He has better delivery than 99% of contemporary comedians.
Today’s comedians feel like they are giving out a book report in class
Contemporary or otherwise, he just has really good delivery. Most comedians are bad (as are most of anything... 90% of everything is crud) so of course a good one is better than most.

In a way he reminds me of Steven Wright only on different drugs.
WOW, HE IS INCREDIBLE
You are incredible ^^
The man's a genius. No one does an act like this.
That depends on what you mean. Yes he is a bright guy and he is good at what he does but comedy juggling and apple juggling have been done before.
“It could taste like Schick” 😂🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂
Never saw this. Thanks for posting. Incredible and funny.
This man is a real juggler, comedian, wish I'd saw him years ago 😉
...Wish I'd sawn him....Thanks for the laugh, Sean!
Funny and clever , and charismatic.
"Knowledge is power. If we all know what to be aware of. You make the world a little safer."
What a great note we need nowadays.
Michael Davis for the win!
This is the Jokers origin story
MD is a friend of mine. Hell of a nice guy....
Does he still perform?
Is he the kid from dick van dyke?
i love Michael davis
✨👏🏽‼️ Wow he is a fantastic juggler! And great comedian! And such a cutie pie too!
oh wow donald pleasent and of course michael davies anazing
Funny enough in Halloween II there's a scene where a kid goes to the hospital cause he got a razor blade stuck in his mouth.
Incredible
one of my favorite jokes of his was "I'm going to attempt to kick the axe into the air, throw the knife, throw the clever, and then run like hell"
GENIUS 😮😮😮😮
To HELL With Steve Martin and Chevy, where the hell did this guy from? It’s a glitch in the simulation.
hes so underrated
The man has a LOT of talent....Not only as a juggler but as a great comic too....
Has he ever broken his teeth with how agressive he eats the apples? Xd
It could taste like Schick....LOL
I thought I missheard what he said. Thanks!
I kept track of the apple, he ate a clean one
Yea no shit

back here on Halloween oh micheal.
How on earth can you keep track of that apple!
You can feel the cuts
third apple into the pattern..is a lot harder than juggling three apples...
Very Steve Martin.
I thought so!
It’d be funny if when he was done eating the apple he looked at one of the ones in his hand and went

As many know ---- his performance for President Ronald Reagan was truly brilliant and funny. :-)
I'm trying it now....
It seemed like it was fake. That is how good it was.

@@CUStudioFilms When SNL portrayed President Ford as a stumbling, bumbling buffoon, it was done with RESPECT, dammit.
It seems like he peaked with only a few routines. Didn't know how to grow and develop his act.
