I agree! He's got the perfect mix of in-the-pocket groove when necessary plus melody in his solos and fills that keep things interesting. It's also rare to see a bassist make use of dynamics and "space" in solos like Joe does. Most other virtuoso bassists in the spotlight tend to lose the groove in favour of "wanking" a million notes per second *cough**Billysheehanvictorwooten**cough*, whilst many working-man's bassists sit back in the shadows and barely get noticed.
actually Wooten gets his gigs for that soloing stuff and he's very tired of it. He told 'bout this in interview (I think it might was interview he did on session with Scott Devine) and if you dig his work you can find some very melodic and beautiful stuff. I recommend "Music as a language" movie with Wooten, he puts great emotions in that stuff, but you can feel it as well. Bout Sheehan, well I don't know any of his melodic stuff, but everybody listens him for that shred on bass.
mag pot pie it's funny because it is a mexican made jazz bass. That means that 1. The sound really comes from the bass player 2. The mexican Fender jazz are really good
@@marcellozanardelli7713 I think in 2019, we can all agree that tone is subjective. A J bass made from the deepest slums in Bangladesh, could sound better than one made by the world's greatest lutherie in California to someone.
@@shibadoge5349 Joe Dark and Davie504 were my inspirations to pickup bass, and ofc the other greats that I only discovered recently like james jamerson, jaco, wooten, miller, les, etc etc etc. I just recently picked it up at 22 and I am having a blast learning a new instrument!
It's a really good thing he has the rest of that body to hold him down; that neck *really* wants to go to space.
They had to bolt his feet to the stage.
Are you talking about the bass or him?
@@vigilancebrandon3888 he is the bass
@@jerbear97can confirm. Am bass
This video is at least 15 minutes too short.
This could last an entire day i wouldn't give a fuck
15 minutes 3 seconds

I love that Joey Dosik is grooving in the audience. Dart is the best bass player to my ears alive today.
