    Im going to use this for reloading primers. Ive found its meticulous to pound the anvil back in, and this will work great to give me the exact pressure I need. Really appreciate this video

    Thanks for these fantastic explanatory videos on NOE products. Tuco is a great guy and a very good teacher. I'd buy almost anything that he demos. Please keep the videos rolling!
    NOE's products are top shelf, but their weak spot has always been the utter lack of description and instruction on their website. They make absolutely no attempt to explain (or sell) their products. It seems that if the potential customer doesn't already know exactly what the product is, and how to use it, then NOE isn't interested in selling it to them. This goes right down to the abject absence of any kind of markings on most of their products. For goodness sake's, folks! We're 21 years into the new century! Get yourselves a laser engraver and use it!

      Thanks! I think that is one of the difficulties when you have a small business. You'd like to hire someone to help out with marketing or other needs, but you're just a small 3 man shop. NOE is local to me and Al is a great guy, so I always like to help him out with what I can.

    I ordered one. I've been using my lubamatic II to seat checks. I intend to set this up with a breechlock bushing on my APP. Then I swap out dies and not an entire press.

    When you push the projectile and gas check through the die there is always a small ridge that forms between the base of the pusher and die. The copper has to go somewhere or otherwise we could not push it through . To eliminate this annoying ridge reverse the bullet and push it through again. I always push gas check designs through twice . This gets rid of some of the annoying ridge.

    I use a similar set up but with lee sizing equipment. I take my 311 sizer and screw it into the press, I take the punch for it and push it up into the die and then give it a little tap to get it to stick in place. For wide meplat bullets I just use a standard flat punch. For spitzer or round nose style I use the NOE nose punch adapter. The NOE is a great tool though.

    Why not place gas check on first and then powder coat?? This is what I do. WOW what a tool . I’m in.Will order one. Fits on square.

    I have never tried shooting powder coating bullets. I am wondering if the powder coating 'smears" inside the barrel leaving a smudge of powder coating inside after shooting ?

    • @FullLeadTaco
      @FullLeadTaco  2 роки тому

      nope, the powder coating seems to leave no residue behind. Shot thousands of them already and they seem to work great

    I have had problems with tolerances on the gas checks bought off ebay...I now only use brand name.....I only gas check 30-30 rounds...other rifle rounds I buy jacket bullets because of speed and leading issues with rifle rounds.

    • @FullLeadTaco
      @FullLeadTaco  7 років тому +1

      On my high velocity cartridges where I am shooting long distance, I use jacketed bullets. I have not attempted to shoot long distance with cast bullets yet. I currently cast bullets and load for several different calibers and cartridges which has allowed me to shoot a whole lot more for the same $$. Bullet casting has allowed me to shoot a lot of the "odd or uncommon" cartridges, and to do it without spending a fortune. At some point, I want to test the limits of hard cast, powder coated, gas checked bullets running at higher velocities. I also want to sometime take the time to learn the art of paper patching to shoot some of my milsurps with cast bullets at closer to jacketed velocities.

    As usual late to the party. I think I should just binge watch all your video's and get caught up.
    Another Excellent video.
    As far as TP's go, I've had both Lyman & RCBS TP's numbered to the bullet they were designed to fit still leave marks on the bullet.
    The N.O.E. punches Do Not Do that. At least not on the mold/bullets I have.
    What brand of GC's are you using ?

    • @FullLeadTaco
      @FullLeadTaco  3 роки тому +1

      I either use gator gas checks, hornady, or make my own. Depends where I find them the cheapest. NOE stocks the gator checks, and with the discount code "flt001", and no shipping, they are the best place for me to buy them locally.

    Have you ever gas checked the bullets and then powder coated them?

    • @FullLeadTaco
      @FullLeadTaco  7 років тому +1

      I have. That is how I usually do the ones that I am shooting through a suppressor. I don't think the gas checks would fall off the bullet while in the suppressor, but do it just to make sure. I have NOT used this tool and then powder coated the bullets with the gas check seated only, powder coated it all, and then sized/crimped. If that makes sense. This video shows how I gas check before powder coating: ua-cam.com/video/tU7Ybs--zkA/v-deo.html

    Many top punches leave marks on cast boolits. I like to clean the punch, fill it with hot melt glue then press a lightly lubed boolit into the glue. when the glue set I carve and send off the excess glue. ---- no more marks. (some people use 2 part epoxy instead of hot glue)

    • @FullLeadTaco
      @FullLeadTaco  4 роки тому

      When you order a top punch from NOE with a specific mold, that top punch is machined to match the bullet nose profile.

  • @DuckmanH
    @DuckmanH 7 років тому

    That is nice. I have the gas check seater for my Lyman 4500 that works like that setup. When I start doing gas checks on powder coated boolits I will get that.

    Lock Rings ? put a #7 1/2 shot under the screw, the soft lead makes no marks on the steel threads.
