Thank you so much LDS faith for this amazing song. I love you guys and your light! I went through a long time of feeling frustrated with the LDS faith and had countless negative thoughts. I want to apologize for all the negative thoughts/perceptions I had about this faith and anyone I may have hurt. I truly believe Gaia is a better place with you all here. Even though our beliefs may vary, I still wish to become one with you. May God bless you all =)

I have known the tune "Kingsfold" since childhood, and this hymn sung to that tune is quite compelling. I was baptized and confirmed this past weekend as a new convert to the LDS Church.

When I was younger, I tended to not care for President Monson. He was just an old guy who kept talking about how bad pornography was. Many years, a lot of pain, and a lot of scripture study and enlightenment make it hard to look at him without tearing up now.

Such a great hymn to remind you how short our time on this planet is.
It also contains one of the greatest questions ever. "Do you think that you could ever, throughout all eternity, find out the generation where gods began to be? Or see the grand beginning where space did not extend or view the last creation where gods and matter end?" Out of all 3 of those events I honestly cannot say which event I would love to see more... However if forced to pick one i'd say to view the beginning of our universe. Imagine seeing the spark that set off all of existance...

When it asks do you think you could ever find out the generation where Gods began to be, or the grand beginning, or the end the implied answer is no.
Because there was no beginning and there will never be an end. Like the third verse says “the works of God continue …Improvement and progression have one eternal round” A round or a circle has no beginning or end but keeps going around.

We teach from the Bible as much as we do the inspired words that are contained in the Book of Mormon. Which were inspired directly by God and Christ themselves. Fellow Mormons, don't let the nasty comments despair you. We have always been persecuted and will always be until the second coming. I am content in the knowledge that we have Heavenly Fathers promise that his gospel will not be taken from the earth again, and the work that is being done by the missionaries and in the Holy Temples around the world will continue to go forth until it has filled the entire earth. Nothing they say or do can stop it. Heavenly Father loves the persecutors also, they are his children as well as we. But, in the end every knee will bow, and every tongue confess.

RealMusician In fact, a lot of the hymns in our hymn book are not necessarily written by members nor expressly for the church; it's no secret, authors and composers are all listed and duly referenced.
Example: The text for Beautiful Zion (44) was written by George Gill, an LMS missionary who served in the Cook Islands (my home) and is even in the CICC (Cook Islands Christian Church) song book which pre-dates the LDS hymn book. The tune was originally (and continues to be sung here) in tonic sol-fa notation.
The Church endorses wholesome music which amplifies and uplifts the Spirit. Such music can come from many sources, including those outside the Church - as long as the piece or song is compatible with the principles of the Church.

Satan has no power over the righteous. If the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is bad then surely it has no power. And yet so many persecute the church for loving Heavenly Father and our Saviour Jesus Christ. Why persecute people who love God ? Food for thought.

    • @72wolfpack

Who persecutes Mormons for loving God. Mormons are questioned because they propagate lies to others without investigating the source of their own doctrines. Mormons do not love the God of the bible they do not love the traditional Jesus Christ, they love Mormon Jesus and Mormon Joseph.

darkroad1 What good is the truth if it hurts others? If you find spiritual truth in any harmful work, you are misled. Try and gain a real testimony. Just because one is a believer in Christ doesn't mean they cannot think for themselves! God gave you and I a brain; let's use it to understand what He wants us to know, not to think of ways to persecute others. I'm not a father myself, but I wouldn't be very happy with my children making propaganda against each other to claim who's right. If one child calls it love, and the other doesn't, it's obviously not love.

darkroad1 ***** I don't know where the hate in the doctrine is, especially since it includes the Bible. You need to giv me an example from scripture.

    • @bradendredge8792
      @bradendredge8792 9 років тому

tee wolfman Would you kindly explain to me why you think we believe in a different God? Joseph Smith was simply the prophet. We don't worship the prophet. Prophets of old weren't worshiped either, lest the believers were merely confused. Worshiping another person is idolatry before God. Worshiping God is what a disciple of God should do, amongst believing in Him, trusting in Him, serving Him, listening to His word, etc.

    • @bradendredge8792
      @bradendredge8792 9 років тому +1

***** We have a modern-day prophet for a reason, actually. But we do uphold Joseph Smith as the first prophet of the Church, and as the servant of God through which Christ established the Church, which he established in His earthly ministry, in the latter days.
I'll rationalize and tell you that there were still real Christians in other churches brought about by the love of God just as there are fake Christians within the LDS Church that were simply born into it and are ignorant of the word of God. That's why you sometimes have to distinguish believer from religion, because you have to know that every single child of God is unique. Even if a doctrine is a disappointment to God, there could be those who unknowingly uphold that doctrine who REALLY just want to understand God, and that's the thing that makes God happy (although you could still pursue to understand God's doctrine to try to understand His will; that's a big reason for written holy scripture right there).
Nonetheless, you must understand that the church that Jesus Christ established during his earthly ministry eventually fell apart. Jesus resurrected and left the earth, His apostles died, the priesthood was taken away, new churches began based on opinion, and multiple translations of the Bible were made. This was an apostasy. And believe it or not, but the reason why the Church exists is to bring the world His truth. The Priesthood was restored, the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored, and the Church now has a modern-day prophet who gives the word of the Lord to the world. Along with that, temples were built, hymns were written, churches were built, organization was made in the church, all for the glory of God and to share His Gospel for those who want to know. :)

That is why we need to love those who hate us. I just wish they would come to realise what it is they are doing. And if they do understand, then I pray for God to show mercy unto them.

Kolob means calf althochdeutsch Kalef and is not a planet and not a single star, but the same as Olam, which means world or universe.
The universe is God. If we write the word God and with a T ( = D )
backwards, then gives the name “dog”, but this has nothing to do with
the “Dog Star”, close to the Sirius in the constellation Taurus.
The word “dog” is an anagram and is equal to the Slavic word “bog” or “Bogh” meaning God in fact.

"Find out the Generation where Gods began to be?"
News flash Mormons, there is only one God the gods do not exist. Yahweh has eternally been God and will eternally be God he is the Alpha and Omega. No God was formed before Yahweh and None will be formed after. Joseph Smith changed his story about seeing God the Father and God the Son so many times. The story just God more and more exaggerated as he went along. It took him 20 years to get to the final story of two beings appearing to him.

The brilliance and wonderful poetry of the doctrines of the LDS church is so far ahead of most of Christianity that even if Joseph was not a prophet; he is one of the greatest religions leaders and theological thinkers of all history! Stop your mockery and start thinking!

I stand as a Christian and declare what YAHWEH himself declared. You are my witness and the servant whom I have chosen so that you may know and believe me and understand I am He. No God was formed before me and after me there shall be none. I even I am God and there is no other.
True Christians believe there is one God Mormons are not Christian but lie to people when they claim to be.

You are right, You and I only have one God. He is Alpha and Omega, He has and always will be our Heavenly Father. No disciple of Christ can deny that. But there is more to eternity than our Heavenly Father. He created us in His image, that we may become like Him. I will use all Bible references to help you see what I know to be true.
God is the literal Father of our spirits.
Deuteronomy 14:1 "Ye are the children of the Lord your God..." Acts 17:29: " Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God..."
And we have the potential to Be like our Father.
Matthew 5:48: "Be ye therefore perfect , even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
Romans 8:17: "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ..."
You have more potential than you think.

I don't care what others think of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. But I do care and feel deep sorrow for those who deny the truth. But I do pray for them always. I used to make fun at this church too..I do it because others do it too. But as I took one lesson..it changed my life and the testimony that was born in me has never changed till now. And I am proud to be a Latter-Day Saints.

I know without a doubt the LDS Church is Jesus Christ's very own Church and that we live forever and have lived forever. Through sacred experiences that I can't write here, I know the there is a God, Jesus is the Christ and that life after death is truly only the beginning of a most joyful, happy existence for those who keep the commandments, repent and love the Lord Jesus Christ.

When difficult times came and many people professed faith but did not have its reality, the solution would not be to have the church start over with new apostles and prophets, but for truly godly people to continue basing their teaching and life on the Scriptures (2 Tim. 3:1-17).

    There is no end to being;
    There is no death above.

The central and most powerful idea in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Atonement of our Savior, and the universal Resurrection. The Atonement began on what is now holy ground in the Garden of Gethsemane, then finished by His humiliating subjection to the cross. Because of this, all of us will be resurrected and saved! This is the most basic and important idea in the Mormon religion. I'm thankful for it!

Of course us Mormons are not close to perfect. We've made lots of mistakes and confess/admit/repent for our shortcomings regularly. We do strive for perfection by living a clean life, fasting, prayer, reading scripture and following astonishing advice given from our church's leadership. We love ourselves and all others including those leaving derogatory comments as this most beautiful and peaceful song plays.

Come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, salvation is through the only Begotten Son of the Father. The call is universal and applies to all of God's children, whether African, Asian, European, or any other nationality. As the Apostle Paul declared to the Athenians, all of us 'are the offspring of God'.
This means to me that we all are sons and daughters of God, so it follows that we can be like Him someday because of the Atonement of Christ.
Beautiful song, video and uplifting message.

As I said before, I agree with this scientist/man of faith - Briefly, he said,
"God doesn't need a...papyrus scroll to reveal Abraham's thoughts and words to Joseph Smith,...If the only function of the scrolls was to awaken the Prophet to the idea of receiving such inspiration, they would have fulfilled their purpose."-Henry B.Eyring.
To me this says that it's not about the scrolls, but the faith of the prophet and the will of God. God can Do Anything, including reveal His word to prophets!

If Mormons only talk to Mormons they wouldn't have thousands of missionary's around the world talking and teaching strangers. l will not respond to any comment that puts any religion or people down because l feel that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ wants us to unite and not fight.

The original name of the melody was "Kingsfold". It is composed by Ralph Vaughn Williams, simetime pre 1893, which the oldest protestant hymnal in which I can find it. There are over 40 poems written to it, which are sung by various denominations. It would appear from this that it is one of the most beloved of the melodies in Christianity. Of course Kolob is the most doctrinally deep of all, being part of the fully restored Gospel. It is my favorite.
