How many hundreds of times have I sung this song and only envisioned images of missionaries-to-be being willing to serve wherever called. The message of being a good neighbor, opening your mouth, being a friend, setting an example, just LOVING had not applied to this song to me the way it is portrayed here. Until now. Wow. This was beautiful.
I am bawling right now. I grew up singing this beautiful hymn in Church and as a full-time missionary myself many years ago, but the full impact of its message only now just hit me. Faith, obedience, compassion, and being open to opportunities that the Lord leads us to, even when we're NOT formally called serve -- that's what this hymn is all about. And I'm sharing it on Twitter right now.
