I love that 18 f2: a joy to use it. Small. Light. Great colors, good micro-contrast. I use it and the magic 35 1.4 and the unbelievable 60 2.4. They are a triade of beloved camera glasses.

Love the way you defend your lens, with your passion, your subjective point of view. A true photographer is a human being with brain, heart and legs (or wheelchair), with her/his culture for composition. And a handheld camera (forget the - so-called - smartphone) always on the go.
It's a great lens it has a nice rendering the 16mm f2.8 is marginally sharper and of course it's WR but I use 16 and 26 mp and I'm completely happy with it's capabilities some people trash perfectly good lenses they forget photography is an art not a science
I've got mine for many years and it has served me well for video and photo, mostly when I travel and want to go about nimble. It set me back 200€ and it has paid for itself many many times, which is not something you can tell about many lenses or even cameras.
I love my 18mmf2 as well and it sits so neat on my xt30ii nearly a pocket size camera combination!
I went with the f1.4 18mm for low light. Love the quality.
It's a lens with amazing quality. I use it for many years professionally for my travel photography (big prints & books). This year for the first time on the XT5 and before on my XT20.

I love and respect your videos and your opinions but in this case I disagree. I bought this lens 3 times and I sold it 3 times. AF is noisy and image quality is not even near the fujinon 35mm 1.4. I made better pictures with manual focusing samyang 21mm 1.4. For candid street I use ricoh GR II and III. I would like to see your review of voigtlander color scopar 18mm 2.8. Keep on good work!
i am using fuji 18mm f2 and the original 27mm f2.8 no complaints. 👍✌🙏
I had them both too, got them in a set with the X-Pro 1 (for much less than the 18mm F/2 sells for now)
I found the 18mm paired so well with the 35mm
Is it perfect no, is it sharp not that sharp, but it is sharp enough... it renders really nice photos... and that is the important bit
I was never a fan of the 27mm F/2.8, was to close in focal length to the 35mm for me and worse in every way (and the 35mm was never a large lens)
Pancake lenses always have compromises (just look how big the 18mm F/1.4 is in comparison)
I'm not sure we will see a mark 2 version of the 18mm fuji released the Stella 18mm F/1.4, a compact F/2 with WR may sell some units but the accountants may decide if it ever happens

Which do you prefer between the Fuji and the Voigtlander 18mm?
Both I would say... One is manual focus f2.8 and one autofocus f2... IQ Voigtlander for sure better

- Current price is over inflated
- Noisy when focusing
- AF hunts alot
- No weather sealing
- Soft corners
The 18 1.4 on the other hand is probably the best prime (90mm f2 tied) in the line up
