Hello! I visited Amsterdam some time ago and I could see there a black ZZ plant, that can not be bought in Romania. I couldn't take a big plant by plane. I loved it so much and I persuaded a florist to give me two little stems, each having 4-5 leaves. Back home I followed your advice and, in due time, both stems became 2 new plants. I am so happy and so proud of them. I want to thank you from the bottom of my addicted to grow plants person and express my gratitude for your perfect tutorial. Thank You. (Excuse my poor English)
I've planted some leaves and put a baggie over it for a few weeks. I was surprised how fast they made roots and tubulars . So far they are growing well. Love your videos. I've learned so much from watching you.
Thank you for probably the best, no nonsense tutorial! your videos are well executed, straight to the point, the length of the video is the perfect amount!
The cool thing is - they also grow from tubers alone. I had a yellowing stalk that I cut and put in water. It did root (after two months or so), but after a couple of months in soil the stalk dried out and died. Yet it had grown a nice, healthy tubers, so I just let them be, watered once a moth or so. After a very long time, maybe a year, it sent out two new stems.
I’m in America and I love you guys. 🙏🏼 thank you so much for the time you take to thoroughly explain all your plant care tips. Much love from the US. ❤️🤗
To be more specific, my single ZZ leaves did root & turn into a bulb... 8 months later. The single leaves got old and died, but the baby bulbs grew new stems. After 24 months, each bulb has a new stem with 2 baby leaves.
Initially I wanted to cry and play a requiem when I heard your story about your ZZ plants. Everyone loves a happy ending and of course yours fit the bill. Good information. Cheers! Darryl
Wow! That's so perfect! I always wanted a ZZ plant, but i wasn't ready for a huge plant as it is. Today i rescued a brocken branch from store and will propagate it. And knowing how long it all takes makes me happy 😊 I don't have to rush and get a spare room for a huge plant 😄 thank you for information.
When my plant was young, I gently tied all of the stocks of my zz plant, over time and growth, kept re-tying up and up ! I now have a very tall, gorgeous, happy plant 😌
It was a pleasure t listen to your instructions on the propagation of the as plant I live in Jamaica it's my first time on your chammil I think you so much a child could understand youe instructions God bless
Thank God I came across this video..I accidentally injured my plant, broke one of its stalk...now I am gonna follow all the instructions given the video, and hopefully will get many new plants from this one little stalk...Thanks alot SWEDISH GUY for creating such informative content for us plant lovers..sending Best wishes to you☘☘
I see that you produced this two years ago and I have just come across this video. Thank you for the precise information. I had to repot my burgeoning plant and some stems broke off so I wanted to try propagating new plants. I am expecting success as I follow your instructions.. REally am glad I found you channel.
I didn't know much abt this plant b4 I purchased it, but rhe more I learn the more I feel that this is the perfect plant for me. I do not have a green thumb! I got this plant for its name. I'm a Ravens fan, from Baltimore. Also, I like ZZ Top.
One of my favourite low maintenance house plants. I have propagated successfully through leaf cutting in water. It has taken over 6months to see baby tuber and roots.
Fantastic video. I followed your instructions and now have 10 healthy, rooted leaf cuttings. I'm just waiting until they reach the 1 inch in length and then I will re-pot them. Thank you.
I had the same ZZ plant(couple of plants in one pot), most of them died because of weather problems in my area. They are really sensitive not only to water, but weather conditions as well. I removed it from the pot so I could see if there was any chance of saving some. Only one survived, but the root was damaged in half. I cutted the same way as you explained in this video, putting it in water and two weeks now without results, no damages either. Good thing you mentioned the 2 months period of waiting lol. I also tried the method with the leaves. I cutted some from the other ZZ's that died, thinking it might work lol (they were still beautifly green). The difference was that I planted them directly into soil and kept them moist all the time( I have read some suggestions that this works), but unfortunately, a week later, they turned black and died. So I am stuck with only one, hoping that things will go well. Thank you for the information. Very helpful for those who have no clue of what to do with the ZZ plant in this situation, like me for instance. I didn't actually knew that putting it only in water could really give result in time. Continue with the good videos. Regards.
This is great! I had one stem that was completely damaged. And so I was so hesitant at first if I'll be cutting the whole stem because I'm worried of what might happen to the part that is still attached to the main plant. But watching this video that is comprehensive enough made me certain that I can just immediately cut the whole stem and propagate the rest of its parts without worrying what might happen. Thank you!😊
Your methods worked😁🌿 I have 12 leaf babies and a 1 rooted stem. It did take a long time for the roots to appear and I almost gave up on them, but then I invested in a grow light and they really took off. It is also June now and all of my plants are having a growth spurt, so this is probably a contributing factor too. Lastly, I used Brita filtered water, as with all my interior plants.
Thank you very much! My little leaf finally grew its roots and I've just repotted it into the soil. I'm very excited! It became very yellow but I hope it's fine
You have one of the best instructional sites for plants on UA-cam. I have tried growing calathea many times but somehow they keep dying a slow death. Do you have any instructional videos on these plants. I really like them but don’t want to keep killing them!
I thank you kindly, clear and slow, step by step you lead ur viewers how to do it in a proper way.. Thank u, already follow liked and subscribed to ur chanel 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍😍😍
Very helpful! Thank you very much! I have rescued a brocken branch from shop today and now i know how to give it one more life, or more if i gonna propagate it from leaves 😄 thank you ♡
Thank you, Thank you! For explaining that the tubers need to be covered with soil. I tried to find out that information from other videos. I was given a very young Raven ZZ, which isn't doing great, although it had one stem with three leaves, and the tuber has a root on the end of it but the leaves were dried and dropped off. I hope planting it below the soil might help bring it back. I need help with this.Otherwise, I do have a few green ZZ plants and they were brought larger and are doing very well.
Thank you so much!! My downstairs neighbours came and dropped off a zz plant she "was so tired of, because it was so ugly". It looked sad and neglected, had completely outgrown it's pot and was reaching about 70 cm long branches out, probably trying to propagate by itself. By help of this video, I cut it down into manageable stems that I put in water, and the one stem I couldn't keep, I picked the leafs off and did the leaf propagation. It's been a month now, and happy to say, all of it is growing bulges and shooting roots and I will be able to make about 20-25 new plants this way. Thank you for a really great tutorial! :D
Great stuff. Thank you for generosity in sharing information and your experiences. We succeed in life because of what we learn from others. God bless you. From Botswana, Southern Africa.
I have 2 ZZ plants, when I purchased them one had a leaf in the soil, it's still there, and it is turning yellow I had thought that something was wrong with it, but now after listening to you, I know better. So do I just remove it or wait for it to fall off?. Don't forget, I'm a newbie. Also I wanted you to know that I am using your self watering method for my Chinese evergreen plant and it is doing MAGNIFICENT!!. The bottom leaves kept drooping and turning yellow. So I decided to try your self watering system and what a difference!!. You are my go to plant guy for sure. Can you lay what other plants I can use it with. I am learning so much from your videos.
I love the third way! I didn't knew anything about ZZ and just did the second way. From 2 stems now i have 12. But it takes too long with the second method. I'll try the third one, thanks again!
Thank you so much for all your highly informative, instructional videos!! I would love to see a video on the Calathea plant family. I can not seem to keep one alive to save my life! Thank you 😁
Excellent presentation. Your videos are alway very interesting and informative. I love ZZ plants. We would really like to know your name so we know who we are listening to. Thankyou.
Such a great video ! I bought a ZZ plant today but tree stems fall on the way 😭😭😭😭 😍 i will propagate them in water 😍💃🏾 I’m so happy more ZZ plant I hope. Love from Canada !
Thank you for all these very educational videos about plants,it's very useful and wish to see more videos, how about all you need to know about ficus elastica.
It took me ages for a leaf to root. I got a little round ball at stem of the leaf so it had started rooting. But it took way too long for it to grow anyway so I threw it away realizing it would probably take even more time to get something worth mentioning or visible. But still it was fun to try and see what happened.
Great video as always! Love that i can keep coming back for refreshers/reminders. Its been about a month and i was starting to get nervous i didnt see much. Now i know to just have patience. Thanks again!
I love your channel. Thank you so much for all the teachings. My questions to you: Why could it be that my ZZ plants only grow leaves on the last 10 cm of the stem, leaving about 20 com of "naked" stem with no leaves. They are tall but not very leavy. Does it make sense?
Very informative video. I have a small cutting & 2 leaf cuttings, still in water & all have roots. Can i plant them all in the same pot or the stem in 1 & the leaves in a separate pot? The stem might need some more root growth but I think the leaves are ready. Thanks again.
I just got a zz plant and when I was checking to see if everything was okay turns out they sold it to me with out any roots, it’s just the stock. I’m so thankful for this video. I hope I’m able to help it survive and grow out roots.
One of the stocks of my ZZ plant broke off. I was going to throw it away (I'm a beginner on plants), but decided to put it in soil. Today, after watching this video, I went and took the stock out of the pot to see if the stock was rotten, but to my surprise, it has roots! around 15 cm of roots after 1.5 mths I put it in soil. I never put it in water (I didn't know I could do that). But it doesn't have new leaves yet. Will it ever have new leaves?
Good call. My twin brother has a hoya in his living room that is on a north face wall and it is easily 2.5 meters in height. It grows on a trellis and flowers all the time. I have a cutting from it but it never compares to his. I'm envious. Darryl
Hi there Swedish Plant Guy :) love your videos. Is there any way you could make a video about plants that thrive in direct sunlight? I have a southern window sill and would like to stack it with pretty plants. All the best!
Thank you very much for your informational videos. I enjoy watching and learning, you make it quite easy. I subscribed to your channel a while ago and you haven't let me down once. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you very much for this tutorial and the 1 about the ZZ plant! You are very thorough in your teaching about plants. I really do appreciate it. 😁👍 PS. I'm a new subscriber because of how thorough you are.
Love your videos! thanks for the content. I tried to propogate 3 stalks and in 2 months time in water, 1 of them grew roots. Can I trim the other 2 stalks from end and try again? on the no root stalks where the cutting is become dark but they still look lush on the rest of the branch and leaves
Love your videos, and guys, keep going 👍 Can you please share some experiences during the water propagation can I use artificial light like growing bulbs or can I use those natural rooting sponges replacing water propagation is there any effect from such solution?
I found a video that you did on Hoyas. Here's my questions. 1. After I bought 2 of them ,carnosa and pubicalyx, when taken out of the pot, what they were planted in, felled apart. Should I repot them in better soil with perlite and orchid bark to make the soil airy? 2. If I use a self watering system, can I use soil instead of pumice or should I just repot them in terracotta pots. 3. If using a self watering system, how do i go about letting them dry out? Do I just take them out of the self watering system and let them dry out, then return them to the system? Told you Newbie here😊. Thank you so much.
You guys are awesome! Love how clear your videos are. Can you please do some videos on Tradescantia, Hibiscus, Gardenia, and/or Fittonia? Do any of these do well in pumice or LECA? I'm from northern Canada but have began my houseplant care journey here in Saudi Arabia, where it's easy to find these beautiful plants but not easy to get pumice, so I amend with perlite, preserved sphagnum, sweet sand, and/or LECA. Would love more info on sand and sphagnum, too.
First, I have just discovered your channel and thank you for all of the useful information! The videos are wonderful- so clear and easy to follow! Anyway, regarding my ZZ plant…I have tried propagation from a stem cutting in water, but I have yet to be successful. The part in water keeps rotting. I have cut that part off and put it back in the water. How do I stop this from happening? Please HELP! I’ve actually managed to almost completely destroy this plant and I’m trying to bring it back!
Hi, really love your videos. I have questions about monstera addisonii. Can you make a video about care tips of them and what to do when there’s bacteria infection? I try cut the yellow infected leafs as much as I can but they keep coming back. I also spray with copper fungicide but it did not help :(

Water 💧 I mean ok

Hello the leaf propagation worked for me. It took about 3 plus months. Out of about 20 only two I had to throw away. Thank you 😊

I don't think I could wait 2 years for a ZZ cutting then another 2 years to get another plant. I'll just buy the amount of ZZ plants I need.

Excellent video again! So very well explained, now I go and propagate.
One of my favorite plants of all. I have 3 and will start to propagate. I want my house full of ZZs

Excellent demo. Propagation seems ez. I propagate everything I can ( too much success 😅 as my network of plant loving friends is way small).

Excellent video. Best advice, glad I saw this before I started to mess up my zz plants❤️👍🇺🇸
Thank you for all these very educational videos about plants,it's very useful and wish to see more videos, how about all you need to know about ficus elastica.
very comprehensive video; I am going to try this!
Thank you for not only talking in inches but also in centimeters. I can much easier visualise what you mean.
Thank you so much for sharing, that was exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you so much for sharing the video. Beautifully explained. Few days back bought a zz plant, definitely gonna try this.
Great video! So educated now! Thank you!

I like the way you teach.
Yes I did enjoy it and thank you for all the information
Thank u for ur instruction of zz plant..i will try
I love this channel, very informative! Can you please talk about Ficus Elastica or Rubber trees🙏🏻
Yes! I just bought one a few months ago. I’m having trouble with my calathea white fusion. She is a diva and I’m trying to keep her alive.
Great video as always! Love that i can keep coming back for refreshers/reminders. Its been about a month and i was starting to get nervous i didnt see much. Now i know to just have patience. Thanks again!
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing it.
What kind of soil is best for zz plants? Thanks for sharing your video, very informative
I like that plant , thanks for sharing.
thank you sir ltry to propagate my,own zzplant ,,
Thank you very much, the tutorial is really good and you have an excellent channel.
Thank you for the video.
Is there a preferred time of the year when to do leaf propagation ? or it can be done anytime ?
I just bought one, yesterday. So happy, I found this channel. Thank you, for all the info. 🖤 New subscriber, here.
Thank you SO much! Big help.
Thank you very much for showing the proper way of propagating the leaves in water. Shall i place them in a bright indirect sunlight?
Especially love these propagation videos!! Have any recommendations for rubber tree propagation from leaf propagation?😊
Very nice video - would also appreciate suggestions for light requirements during propagation. Thank you 🙏🏼
I love your channel. Thank you so much for all the teachings. My questions to you: Why could it be that my ZZ plants only grow leaves on the last 10 cm of the stem, leaving about 20 com of "naked" stem with no leaves. They are tall but not very leavy. Does it make sense?
I enjoyed it very much! Thank you.
I am a new subscriber and green thumb. This video was informative, and clear. Thank you!
Very informative video. I have a small cutting & 2 leaf cuttings, still in water & all have roots. Can i plant them all in the same pot or the stem in 1 & the leaves in a separate pot? The stem might need some more root growth but I think the leaves are ready. Thanks again.

I planted a broken stock and after 1.5 mth (I just checked it today), it has roots!
Susana Escobedo I’m so glad to read this! I know they take a super long time and I’m glad you got yours to grow! I hope mine does as well 🤗
@@susanaescobedo1 Congratulations for the patience! You deserve that result! Happy planting!
One of the stocks of my ZZ plant broke off. I was going to throw it away (I'm a beginner on plants), but decided to put it in soil. Me too!! exactly!!
I forgot to ask. Could you do something on Hoya plants?.
Good call. My twin brother has a hoya in his living room that is on a north face wall and it is easily 2.5 meters in height. It grows on a trellis and flowers
all the time. I have a cutting from it but it never compares to his. I'm envious.

This plant is on my wishlist. I just love your channel. - Ruthie
Another great video, thanks so much!!
The leaf cuttings look pretty packed in that glass. When they start developing tubers and roots, do they need more space in the glass?
Yes they do, but they take long time to form.
Well explained. Thanks
Your plants are superb
Another very helpful video ♥️
Hi there Swedish Plant Guy :) love your videos. Is there any way you could make a video about plants that thrive in direct sunlight? I have a southern window sill and would like to stack it with pretty plants. All the best!
Thank you very much for your informational videos. I enjoy watching and learning, you make it quite easy.

Nice video sir, can I just plant the new cutting in soil straight away..Will it still grow roots?thx👍
Mine did
Very helpful video.
What happens to the cut bulb, where the stalk was cut? Will it grow a new stalk?
Love your videos, and guys, keep going 👍 Can you please share some experiences during the water propagation can I use artificial light like growing bulbs or can I use those natural rooting sponges replacing water propagation is there any effect from such solution?
From Tanzania thanks for sharing
You explain really good
I found a video that you did on Hoyas.
Thank you! Great tutorial!
An absolutely excellent presentation. Packed with detailed information and well explained. Thank you for making these videos. 👏🏽👏🏽
Hi, really love your videos. I have questions about monstera addisonii. Can you make a video about care tips of them and what to do when there’s bacteria infection? I try cut the yellow infected leafs as much as I can but they keep coming back. I also spray with copper fungicide but it did not help :(
Awesome Video. Thanks.
