Thank you John William for making this and thank you Mr. Woo for showing and explaining about these great cameras. Mr. Woo reminds me of the Dali Lama with that little laugh he does now and then. Such a gentle soul. Best wishes Jake Everyman.
Thank very much Mr Woo comes from a very humble up bring and had a passion for photography ever since he was a child. We have been friends for decades and I bought my first Leica from back in 1996
Mr. Woo is a connoisseur of the beautiful architecture and form of cameras. These picture making machines have an allurement unto themselves. I believe the Canon P is one of best minimalist camera designs. Tom
Great info on these earlier cameras. I'm not a fan of the rangefinder cameras, nice to see the Df there, one of my favorite cameras. Would like to see the Leica SL series one day.
Fantastic! Did you have an armed guard just out of frame with that treasure trove of cameras?! LOL! A camera collectors dream! I'd give my firstborn for any one of those cameras! Thank goodness I have no children to give! Thanks, Mr Woo!
My M8 APSH bigger sensor size than the DX APSC but smaller than FX Full Frame sensor. CCD Sensor is like Film Pictures with grain. Everyone love the Nikon FM3A because of it's smaller size compared to the D5 and D6. I would love to have the Nikon's more than the Leica Film Cameras. Good Video! Cheers!
A few years ago I acquired the very camera, a Leica M8 and 90mm F2 APO owned by the famous French actress Audrey Tautou; Amelie, A Very Long Engagement, which was given to her by French director Jean Pierre Jeunet who directed both those films and the short film/advert Chanel directed by Jean and starring Audrey and briefly, but poignantly the Leica M8 and 90mm F2 APO. What I do know is that Jean chose this particular camera to feature in the film as there are no markings on the front of the lens, only on the top of the hood, and they concealed the 'M8' logo with a small block of plastic all done to 'not to distract from the beauty of Audrey' !! I still have it, no idea if its worth any more than a normal M8 and lens and wondered if someone might know - based in UK - it has the charger complete with French/Euro plug battery charger - the ding on the lens - carefully concealed in the shots in which it is used but absolutley zero provenance!!!!!
I was a British Soldier in GERMANY from 1957-58 and there was a Camera Dealer in Iserlohn with LEICA M3 in the Window priced 820 D Marks when the British Army got 11.50 D Marks to £1 Sterling but i could no afford it as I was paying off a pre-war CONTAX III with 50mm f1.5 UnCoated SONNAR bought in BERLIN for £38 -- do the Maths -- !! There was also on sale NEW the LEICA IIIg with 50mm f2 Summicron and in the Canadian Maple Leaf Store they were selling NEW LEICA IIIF with 50mm f3.5 Elmar for £42 ! But I did not get one as I could not afford to pay for two cameras -- REGRETS -- I have a FEW as the Frank Sinatra Song Goes --
Maybe not buying the Leica ended up giving you something more valuable-a dream that still inspires you even after all these years. Sometimes holding onto that dream can be more fulfilling than actually owning the equipment.
I would not say that the Japanese Camera makers gave up ! They just saw the coming future for SLR Cameras ! We know that it did not went well for Leitz/Leica with SLR Cameras, the Leicaflex, Leicaflex SL and Leicaflex SL2 was too expensive for the Germans to produce, When Leica then tried with the Leica R3, they made a big mistake by making their own electronic in the Cameras, they should have used the same as in Minolta, the goes for the Leica R4 ! I have always wondered why Leica did not back in the 1970´s and 1980´s made Leica Lenses for other Camera brands mounts, so I will say the Japanese won ! Now Leica have made the L-mount system, but I think that is many decades too late ! Many former users of Leica R cameras, they use other brands today.
Great video. As always. I’ve saved it to a playlist that I’ve titled Mr. Woo’s Camera Wisdom and when I can’t sleep I watch the playlist 😊
Excellent spread of M cameras, great video!

I was surprised Mr Woo did not push that shutter button on the F6. I could have not resisted.
No M5 ?
Great information as always, thank you

I've got a Df and an F5, I'd love an F6, dreamy film camera.
I guess the Leica's are cool too...

can the nikon f6 get its own video please???!??!??!
The Nikon F6 is amazing, but I still prefer my Leica R8.
F2AS is the GOAT for Nikon.
Totally agree

Who is he?
Skip M5
Great video - Love Leica engineering - still hate rangefinders.
How about Leica SLRs...🦘
Great ! It’s a video of cameras and lenses. I was using a Leica today. I have only got four. I have a Hasselblad 501cm also, just thought I would say.
