That guy is unreal on the shovel. Taking the grape off and packing well to the edge. Some just don't give a damn just fire it in. Big air pockets then and pit face going off once its opened. Nightmare
Great seeing this silage being done like this up here in the islands of Scotland all we do is the bails because big sheds like that cost way to much to be built, as they need to be built strong enough to withstand 100+ mph winds
Hi I'm very happy becouse I love silage and im got to miss it from the nearby farm becouse of covid 19 so thanks for reminding me of it that I'm in the field👍
Would it be possible to team up with krone or another company to get a mower upgrade, with 122k subscribers theyd enjoy the advertising and youd get the use of a mower
You always scare me every year when you're walking about inside the shed while they're packing the silage and reversing the trailers in. Have a horrible vision of you getting hit one day. Love silage season!
Great video pal. You may have to weld plate on bottom re-enforce that split! All our plastic goes to be recycled and benchs made. We put something in the Chopper tank and that ain't cheap either?
@@thefunkyfarmer it looks like vibration pulling it away from the frame that's what causing the crack because it's worst one side! I though plate welded on bottom out site would re-enforce that where it meets the Frame?
Interesting video . Sweep was asking does the silage have rats nests in it when it's all piled up ? If so he will come down to your farm for some exercise he loves to catch rats and give them a good shaking in his jaws . Stay safe and Crack on .
First time I had seen a silage pit being filled up from scratch, usually there is a big pile of grass in thereby time we get to see it. Tell me is the more it's rolled in the pit the better it is? Does it make for better silage or does this help to preserve it?
Yes if it is cut at the right time of day when the sugars rise in the grass. Some of the sugars in our round bale haylage caramelises and you can taste it . Important to conserve forage that has protein and energy. The first cut is usually the best.
That's terrible with regards of the mower you've not had it that long. Would you invest in a Claas or Krone mover from what I've heard there bulletproof
Jack's eyes lit up when you said you saw daisy, the chopper man's daughter
You should invest in a drone so we can see more of the harvest. Can't wait for p2
Nice Job Rich....it looks like some quality grass! 👍👍
Excellent video nice to see the enthusiasm in the kids for farming
Proper job, if he rolls the rest of the clamp as he did last year then it'll be excellent stuff.

yes he's excellent on the clamp

First time I had seen a silage pit being filled up from scratch, usually there is a big pile of grass in thereby time we get to see it. Tell me is the more it's rolled in the pit the better it is? Does it make for better silage or does this help to preserve it?
it bit of both really
You can never roll a pit enough I always used to roll mine after the loader left to drive more air out
Do you ever lay a base of straw to soak up the effluent, the cows seem to like it.
we don't really get a lot of effluent these days
Great video, but why don't you roll the clamp with one of your tractors? Save taking the JCBs fork off
better to stay out the way
When I have grass cuttings at home it gets very hot and steamy why does yours not
Because grass clippings are left to dry for 24 hours and you don’t put them in an airtight environment. So they rot rather than pickle.
Because they push all the oxygen out
Not being funny but I've seen your welding... the mower will probably be stronger if you leave it as it is Lol
Is it sugary stuff
No it's grass that they clamp to make silage for cows
Yes if it is cut at the right time of day when the sugars rise in the grass. Some of the sugars in our round bale haylage caramelises and you can taste it . Important to conserve forage that has protein and energy. The first cut is usually the best.

it's quite old, the new one we sent back. I think we can keep going with this one for now as the contractors take the pressure off
Did ya lose the rest of the video or what is the story
There will be another video soon
