Sweet. This hobby, more than any other, gets into our inner lives with peace, gentleness, love, and kindness. As we share our experience with others our lives are enriched and our community grows. This is a beautiful video that expresses the hope and joy so many of us share as we share our love for little fish.
Thank you for all the amazing stories and Stephen how beautifully put together this video is🙏😭 I take so much inspiration from each and every one of the people in the video and every single one of you guys in the fish fam!! Thank you again for letting me be part of this!! I hope everybody has a blessed and beautiful day 🙏♥️🌿🐟🌿 #fishfam
awesome selection of stories and opinons/info! thanks stephen. Also MARY PAIGE! ... I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Thank you for sharing so much so close to your heart. you rock! hugs
This is the greatest! I've never cried while watching a video about fish keeping before, until now. Hearing all these amazing stories helped me feel like I'm not alone ❤
Mary Paige...what an inspiration. She probably doesn't consider herself one but WOW what a fighter. She has my heart. I could sit and chat with her for hours.
This is what binds us all together! The Stories of our lives!!! Through a simple connection of our hobby! Our connectivity is bonded by the fish we keep and the journeys we have taken to get to this place filled with joy and love. An incredible event of being grateful for what, how and where we are today! Through rough times that have cemented our paths and illuminated our future! Many THANKS to the Awesome Stephen P and his incredible ability to bring us such an empowering social unity. These tidbits of history and gratefulness are truly moving!
Mary paige CARRIED this video :) love the rest of you too! Fishkeeping has done wonders for my mental health and sense finding the fishfam ive barely had any bad days :)
Oh my goodness...this was so real and grounded. What a great community to be part of. I ❤ all of you. Keep swimming..no matter which direction of the current. Fish keeping helps all of us in different ways
Big thumbs up StephenP. Wow. This series has been awesome, and now seeing what drove my favorite fishy friends to enjoy the hobby, and being able to relate to some of you guys. Just wow. Such an inspiring, strengthening, and empowering video. Thank you guy's so much.
This was amazing. I found fishkeeping when I left a really unhealthy 12 year relationship. I felt like that relationship stole my life and when I found fishkeeping it was quite literally the first thing I’d done for myself in 12 years and the first thing I’d ever done for myself as an adult. It has helped me heal. It has helped me find joy again. I’m so grateful for this community of fishy people and this hobby.
Stephen, I love your contributions to the fish fam here on UA-cam, your videos always make me smile. Thank you for this video. I relate to so much of what everyone has shared. I have social anxiety but keeping up with channels like this makes me feel less alone. Keeping fish is a huge stress reliever for me, and the many facets of it appeal to me in different ways. Like Alex said there’s an art and a science to it, and so much if it is just about being present and responsive to what you see and experience. I could say so much more but that’s it in a nutshell. Thanks to everyone who contributed.
Stephen, this was so wonderful. Thank you and everyone that contributed 😊 I do not post content on UA-cam, but like to think that I am part of this wonderful community. We all have a story of struggle, as life is full of intertwined victories and missteps. Keeping fish and learning from all of the people here, helps me push thru each day, even when I don't want to.
This is my favorite one of this series, everyone had really heartwarming stories, but Mary Paige stole the show, she is such an amazing person. Fishkeeping has done alot for me, I was in a bad place in my head, struggling with school. I always enjoyed fishing, and I watched alot of UA-cam fishing videos, but I saw a video that had fishing then they went home and they had a big ass fish room with lots of big native fish, that channel was SC fishkeeping. Then after that I was getting aquarium coop video, and some other crappy UA-camrs that I don't watch anymore lol. But they got me interested in the hobby again, so I went to my local goodwill and found a 20 gallon. I learned how to cycle it, the rest is history, I finally found peace, I found a sense of responsibility other then myself. I got my GED in less then 6 months, I stopped drinking, I cut out the negative people in my life, and now its just positivity and peace. Thanks StephenP
Absolutely amazing people awesome video thank you all for sharing your story with us Stephen we will be waiting for a part 2 and more professional done
If you haven't subscribed to Mississippi Hippie, you should check her out! She does a weekly Saturday livestream about this very subject, with different guests who talk about past traumas, mental illness, etc. and how fishkeeping has helped them. ua-cam.com/users/MississippiHippieFishies
Wow. I absolutely loved this! I relate to so many of your stories about anxiety and large crowds and mental illness in general and how just sitting and staring at a tank for hours helps me to forget about those things. I am so happy everyone shared their stories with us. Thanks Stephen for this amazing video! The fish fam is an awesome family! 🥰
What a great video it's awesome to see how the aquarium hobby and the fish fan has touched so many people in such a positive way. Mary your segment was so amazing, thank you so much for sharing your story I'm sure you're going to help a lot of people who may have the same problem that doesn't have any hope of recovering or getting through these hard times that they're in. But after listening to your story I'm sure it can help them a lot! Love you so much Mary and I really enjoyed listening to all the other ones also! Thank you all for sharing your heartfelt stories!!!!! 😘
Sorry this is long lol Man this video made me cry, happy tears of course! I relate to so many of you on such a higher level. I struggle really badly with social anxiety, sometimes it prevents me going anywhere for weeks at a time. Thankfully I have a dog who makes me bring him outside several times a day. My fish keep me busy and moving and get out of my head. My fish bring me so much joy when I see them thriving. The fishfam has also helped tremendously in the past 6 months! I left an extremely verbally/emotionally abusive relationship and moved into an apartment. This was a downgrade in life and I felt myself slipping into a dark place. This is when I found the fishfam! I have found people who understand me and are so loving and accepting. I have started thinking differently and making plans for my future. My whole life I have never had a 5 year plan, now I do. My whole life I've had a reoccurring dream about having a ton of fish tanks. It's funny because after acquiring a few tanks that dream stopped lol. I honestly believe that something pulled me to this life and to the wonderful people I have met ♥️. I am so so grateful
Thank you for this Stephen, and Alex, Kenny, Cory, Brianne, Skipper, Lefty, Drew, Chris, Ed, Dan, Bentley, Kerri, Riko, Robert, James and Mary. ALL of your stories brought a tear to my eye. Each and every one of you are truly awesome people, and the fact that we can all come together to talk fish, plants, and life from across this little blue planet we call home is something I couldn't cherish enough. I was a very quiet kid before I got into the hobby, having moved states almost every year or so. It wasn't until we stayed for a long time in CA that I picked up this hobby. That one 55 gallon was the focus of my day, and I'd make weekly trips at the very least to our LFS and see new fish, plants, and local hobbyists. Eventually we moved again, to Oregon, then Washington, and finally here in Maryland. Every state I lived in after getting into this hobby I kept at least 10 aquariums, and joined local clubs, and finally became an outgoing person (I still have some work to do on the front though). And then I found Fishtube, and I haven't had a day since that I haven't watched at least one fishy video. This hobby, and more importantly this FishFam community, has done so much for me, and it is really wonderful to hear that it has done as much if not even more for all you awesome people. Stay fishy people!
Stephen all I can say is Thank You!!! This was incredibly moving and well done! I love each and every one of you and can’t wait to meet you all in person ❤️❤️❤️
Very nice video man, it’s interesting to see the various effects fish keeping has had on peoples lives. To answer the question it has provided me with an area where I think I can do something good instead of focusing energy on some bad. Sorry it took so long to comment lmao
I love nature part of keeping fish and helps with my anxiety, I find it very relaxing even with doing the daily and weekly maintenance, I would love to learn how to build a natural biotope with plants for angels and my blue eye lemon Bristlenose pleco, that's in my 37 gallon aquarium I haven't seen any videos on it or how to, also I am on an low budget right now not sure if it is possible to pull it off
If you're having trouble finding videos on setting up that specific habitat, I bet you could find some videos on angelfish in the wild. Typically they're going to be in dimly lit, low turbulence parts of the amazon river. So think blackwater. Leaves, wood, sandy bottom, and plants that can still do ok in minimal amounts of light.
I'm always so touched about the stories of the fish fam and how aquariums mean so much to all of us. Aquariums helped me get through a rough year filled with some of the hardest challenges I had lived, all happening at once (loss of a family member, dealing with the ups and downs of long-distance relationship, high-level exams during my studies and many others) in my life and brought me so much more and I'm glad I started the hobby.
Dolbec thank you for sharing and thank you for being here! Meeting you and so many others has been such an inspiration and a true blessing!! Happy holidays my friend! 🙏🎄♥️🌿🐟💚
Love this series. This is the best one so far -- love every one of the contributors and their relatable, inspirational stories!!! My tanks are definitely "Fishtank Therapy" for me. Thanks for putting this together, Stephen P + a huge thanks to everyone who shared. :)
Awesome video Stephen! Listening to some of the fish farm talk nearly brought me to tears. What has the hobby done for myself it brought me to UA-cam ware meet some amazing people. I find watching fish so relaxing it takes up a lot of my time taking care of my fish room which I really enjoy sending time in there. It change my life in massive way
Thank you Stephen for this amazing video! It's great to know that there are other people like me that gain so much from fish and the fish fam. I struggle with being bipolar depressed and have severe social anxiety amongst other things that make going out and doing things a struggle. Fish and the fish family have given me something to be happy about, to look forward to, and encouraged me to talk to other people. I thank all of you for everything you do!
