"I am ranked 14th and I am ok with that" - Imaging being ranked 14th in a field with a world record holder and the previous olympic podium and being "ok". Imagine being able to just fathom that. Honestly unreal mental fortitude to be neither terrified or ego'd up beyond belief
Hey Philly, good luck with London, you'll smash it. I saw an 80 year old wearing a love the grind vest at a half marathon I marshalled today, you are inspiring so many different generations!!
Really don’t believe you have reached your ceiling yet. Being on your home turf, in a race you have longed to do and with so many motivating factors to spur you on, I believe you will raise the bar yet again, this time in the race of your dreams in London. All of the things you have gone through, from the challenges you faced in Oregon, overcoming an eating disorder and a thousand pin pricks in your fingers to measure your blood levels and hours of exhausting training, have to be for something that will produce a performance that will lead to a higher calling. Keep trusting the grind, Phily. It’s gotten you and Daniel this far. There is more to conquer.
I am so invested in you Phily, I will be cheering you around Woolwich Road! I am starting an 11 week training session (thanks Garmin!) - although my goal is to get a sub 1hr 10k so not in your realm. But as a single mum mother of 2 toddlers this is my marathon! Love the grind!
This has got to be the best episode of this channel I have watched up-to-date. Lots of emotions, personal stories, a trip down memory lane to the past and discussing at great length what running, the whole aspect of doing marathons, and the prospect of running the London marathon major has meant to you and your closed ones like your family. So much passion and determination on every step of your journey which can be truly felt through every word you say describing your journey. Will be cheering you on and looking forward to the race. Wishing you the best result, I'm sure you will smash it! Love the grind!!!
Imagine being the teacher that inspired Phily to eventually do the London marathon and for you to be starting on the ELITE start line??? Wow that’s incredible!! I’m sure if she saw this she’d be so proud of you! Cheering you on from Canada!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Yay! Go Phily! I met a woman on my long run this morning who told me her uncle who lived in London, on his 60th birthday told everyone he was going to run the London Marathon not ever having run a race in his life. He lived to 94 years!
The clip from London marathon 1996!!! My dad ran it that year, just a couple of weeks after I was born. He's my inspiration to run it one day. So excited for you Phily!!!!
I'll be running with the masses at London (my 4th major) and will be rooting for you from far behind! I can't wait to experience your beautiful country!
Best marathon in the world, ran it many times off the fast good for age start line. You will love the atmosphere the whole way around. I look forward to watching your training and seeing you on the TV.
I did London last year having supported there in the past, and I am being genuinely honest when I say that it has just given me tears and goosebumps to REMEMBER the lead up to Tower Bridge again. You know it'll be the best atmosphere you will ever experience, but you won't TRULY know until you get there and I cannot wait for your recap afterwards. As Daniel says... GO ON PHILY!!!!!!!!
Thanks Phily, I'd been struggling to get out run recently, as I've been battling depression, but i feel inspired and motivated to get out there this week, thanks for your positive outlook. It really has picked me up.
Yes Philly! Will be awesome to follow you on the TV come April and to have someone to root for. The timing of your announcement is also great for me motivationally speaking. I'm running LLHM a few weeks before that for national autistic society and I've decided today is the day I focus on my training so I can start to see what kind of race I want to run. I turn 40 this year and I recently broke an 8 yr old 10k pb so I am hoping to demonstrate age is just a number this year by maybe having a good showing (by my own standards) this year in London
Phily you are going to become a legend in the making, and we will all be there to see it happen. Keep on. Running, Video Daniel, your hair styles,.....
I watched Peter Duncan from Blue Peter training and running the very first London Marathon. I fell in love with it and vowed to run it when I was old enough. I managed to run 5 times. Still the best race ever. Each year I binge all the personal UA-cam videos random people put out. It will be great to see yours this year! 😁👍
Fully just realised that the London Marathon is on the 27th of April - that's my birthday! really hoping I'll be able to make it to london and shout and cheer you on!
Such a great video Philly. As someone who also grew up watching the LM, who also finished 100th in the Inter Counties as a junior, has ran London 6 times and has made it an annual event with my daughters, this hit soooo many chords with me! Go get it. Obviously, I'll be there cheering you on ❤
I'm thrilled that you're running London this year, Phily! What an incredible field of runners you'll be in the midst of, and as you say, the opportunity to learn and thrive among them will be so good for you. I'm a little bit gutted that I can't be on the streets of my home city, with my family, shouting your name and cheering you and the other incredible people on. For reasons unknown to me, Manchester Marathon is on the same day, and I'll be running that - albeit a little slower than you! Excited for the story of your lead-up in the coming weeks!
I've done London twice and I have to say the support is brilliant and it gives you a lift especially when things get challenging. Best of luck with your training Phily.
Good luck Philly, will be watching your journey to the finish line. I am an Aussie and have run all 6 World Majors, London was my favourite. I hope you love the experience while chasing your goals. GO PHILLY 💪🔥
Good luck. I am running my second marathon, and hopefully my first finish, at 63 (first one ran injured, got half way). Good luck Phily, I think your ultimate goals are achievable given the marathon progress you have shown so far. I will be following your build up.
the level of content by you guys is AMAZING! the cutting, the talk, the whole storyline of the videos: wow wow wow! let’s go philly!! so excited to be part of the journey ❤
I just discovered your channel and I’M OBSESSED! Congratulations on the elite start for the LM, and also thank you for documenting your journey for us to see- it’s incredibly inspiring and motivating 😊 🎉
Wow how exciting!! We are potentially going up this year but if not we’ll be watching and cheering you on from home!! I have London landmarks half marathon this year!
We fly back from Boston the morning of the London Marathon but my plan is to dump my bags at home, jump on the tube and shout ‘love the grind’ on as many occasions as possible! Super excited for you Phily! Good luck with your training block 💪💪
So excited for you Phily and how courageous you have become as an endurance athlete -your work ethic is so inspiring for women in sport - I am definitely coming to watch you dance this year 😊
Found your comment about running alone interesting - I'm mostly an ultra runner and generally do quite low key events so after the first hour or so you're typically solo for the rest of the race! Plus no crowds so you only really see people at aid stations or when you come across bemused looking hikers. Always find when I run with other people around I go too fast and blow up!
Every time I watch your vlog I want to buy unfeasible running shoes and kit and move to Flagstaff.. and I’m a 65 year old cyclist with an artificial knee. One of the best sporting vlogs on UA-cam. Good luck with the journey.
Wow Philly that's amazing news, COME ON PHILLY!!!!! I will watch on TV, you will heat me shouting from NZ. Best of luck with your training block, may all the stars aline and all your dreams big or small come true🎉
woooohooo, so excited to cheer for you! I also got inspired to run marathons by my dad and I ran my first one this year ten years after he ran the same race - the ottawa marathon- and my dad sweetly jumped in when I had stepped in a pothole and needed some support for the last few K. Marathons are so special and extra special with people you love! as an aside, the blonde mini bob is so so so cute
Great news. I too was inspired by watching the London Marathon on TV while I was at school (probably the very first one) and went on to run it five times, albeit a lot slower than you. Also did one Berlin, and the crowd support in London and the whole organisation, is way, way, higher. London elite fields look great, with the GB field looking intriguing - Eliish as you say, Rose Harvey looking to get back on track after her problems in Paris, the everpresent Charlotte Purdue, you, etc. etc. etc. Let's hope you all get to the start line in one piece. Also, not at London, Calli Hauger-Thackery has started off 2025 in great form and must be a contender for a place on the World Champs team.

LETS GO PHILLY! Cleared the calendar to watch on TV! Go smash it!
Get the popcorn ready 🍿
Fingers crossed for some decent coverage! 🎉
@@PhilyBowdenI only eat racing gels while watching marathons on tv. Makes it more realistic.
