Great video Straight forward simple to the point. Just purchased a 06 wrangler. Planning to change all fluids so I know where everything stands with regards to lubs 👍
All of you disregard the white Teflon tape. It's not meant for oils and you'll likely have issues later. White thread tape will degrade with that high heat and oil. Instead use yellow thread tape for gas and chemicals. You'll thank me later.
I just change the differential fluids(2013 wrangler JK and saw the same red bead of sealant around the rear diff cover edges. [ Is the":excess" sealant normal? I have no leaks.
Good vid on the procedure but I have a question on the Teflon tape. Looks like you used the white stuff which is typically used for water fittings. I always use the yellow Teflon tape which is rated for oil and gas fittings. Would the yellow stuff not be a better choice?
There's a lot of opinions on using tape. I've seen a lot of people use it. I've heard a lot of people say that it's worse and changes the torque spec. I've never had an issue with it. I imagine that the yellow stuff would work just as well
Don't use teflon tape on the plugs, those are pipe threads and under very low pressure so they don't need it, that's why there's none from the factory. If you decide to use thread tape make sure you adjust your torque specs for the lower friction, this guy didn't do that. Torque specs are set for clean thread applications.
The Jeep dealership near me wants $600.00 to do what you just did. They ain’t gonna get it from this guy! Thank you for the video!
Hahaha Good! It's such an easy job on the wranglers since they have a drain plug! Save yourself that $600.
I did exactly that! 😂😂😂.
Dude it is cheaper in Canada and the USA dollar is worth more.
You would be better off crossing the border for service 😂
Awesome video! In 3.22 minutes, you told us everything thing we need to know and do!
I just got a used Rubi jk. I’ve been watching your videos. I like how this diff has a drain plug. Much cleaner than pulling the whole cover off.
IM FAMOUS!! Thanks for the cameo of me on the wranglers hood. BtW. That diff fluid looked so clean. Go sink the jeep in mud and get it on vidya!
Yes sir! I thought the fluid looked really clean too. Made me wonder why I even changed it lol
01/03/2025 - Happy New Year.
1st time attempted differentials (front/rear) fluid change - SUCCESS!!! Thank you for the video help, excellent.
Great video brother. Straight to the point 👌🏽

Thanks bro
I thought even the sports came with a 30 in the front and 44 rear?

I wanted to add that there are some differentials that require an additive
I like that you took fill off first. If you drain and cant get fill off,...well you know! Great video! Love the bags. So much easier to use.
Oh yeah! Would never want to be in a situation where you can't fill it back up!
Thank you for sharing

Yes, that excess sealant is normal. Don't remove it or try to scrap it off. Just about every differential cover has some excess on it.

Do you need to add a limited slip additive?
I have a Rubicon with lockers. No limited slip additive is needed.
In the video he used the Valvoline fill bags. Both their 75w-90 and 75w-140 have the LSD additives in them.
I have a 2007 wrangler 2 door, is amsoil 75W90 okay to put in my front and rear?
I can honestly only recommend putting in the oil that's called out in the owners manual. There's a lot of forms on the topic though

Great, now the whole drivetrain will be ruined…
This guy seems like he’s used it before and he’s done this before and it worked just fine! Different torques for different dorks!
