When replacing the valve cover gasket, I used some heavy duty oil resistant rubber gasket material and also made a heat shield. Just over 2 years and no leaks. This old thing has about 1800 hrs on it.

if you take the drums off make sure to replace the hub seal as they are only one time use also transmission levels are usually meant to be checked when the truck is running we typically use TVH for parts

I sprayed fluid film inside my doors and in the hot sun it stinks whenever i get in my car, yuck. Did u experience this? Can the undercarriage be washed after spraying under there? I live in the midwest and we get a lot of snow and salt. Should it be washed during the winter season at all?

Not for nothing but went about repair wrong. Should have asked someone for advice, would have told you to remove mast first, then trans / diff assembly. Looking at 2 to 3 hrs and your rolling it out. Made job a career
