Paint A Simple Loose Watercolour Rainy Day Urban Landscape Using Neutrals, Watercolor Tutorial Demo

Today I'm using up the old paint on my palette before cleaning it to paint this simple rainy day urban landscape scene using the neutral colours produced by mixing it all up. My board is at an angle of about 45 degrees tilt. Why not try something similar with neutrals mixed from your palette? I like to spray the paint on my palette 5 mins or so before I start painting so it wets up and become rich and creamy again, almost as rich as tube consistency.
Paint mixtures include perylene green, sepia, indigo, paynes grey, raw and burnt sienna. Various brushes and Saunders Waterford cold pressed [a[er, 140lb/330g, 11" x 15"/28cm x 38cm

Quick tape tip from a fellow painter reviving my skills, stick the tape temporarily on your jeans before using on the paper, it takes away some of the tack.

This was a fun way to clean my palette and paint with you. I did a quick sketch and loved the results! I don’t like wasting huge amounts of paint on my palette and have done different pieces using leftovers but this was a favorite.
I like the idea of keeping a gray mix of leftover paint in its own small dish for silhouette pieces. It will always be an interesting mix and play of colors. We’ll see!

All I can say about this one is WOW! I love the way it turned out! You are incredibly gifted! Thank you for sharing this with us! It's interesting to me how you put the background paint on rather randomly (aside from the deliberate horizon line) and you somehow ended up with a sort of sidewalk where you could conveniently place a lamp post! Love it! :-)

I love this. Beautiful. For me, instead of a handbag, I would’ve liked to see the man’s arm around her. For a scene like this, maybe she is cold or they can be snuggled under the umbrella to help keep the rain off. Maybe for variation, or if painting a series, one object can be a vivid color. ❤
