Buying an olive grove in Italy - Life in Italy

- Опубліковано 26 лис 2022
- Pressing the harvest of our olive trees into our very own oil has been a goal of ours. We quickly realized that our 12 trees would be insufficient so Stijn started looking at cheap olive groves to renovate.
Over the course of the past few months we have searched for, visited and ultimately purchased an olive grove.
Our area has many olive groves that are unkept and abandoned due to younger generations moving into the bigger cities. This all made me very excited to look into purchasing some additional land to meet the minimum of 200kg/440lbs to ensure the mill will press our own oil.
We looked at a total of 4 options and eventually decided to purchase a grove with 15 well kept and established trees near our home.
Lovely location! Now, you need a couple of donkeys to keep the grass down. 🤩
It's perfect! Stijn keeps trying to convince me he needs goats! 🤣😂🤣
@@ouritaliandestiny7955 Yes, goats!
You have found a nice new spot for your new home - you are pretty smart - welcome in Umbria
Grazie Mille 💞🇮🇹
Nature therapy 💚🌳
Absolutely !
Congratulations
Thank you so much 💞🇮🇹
Love that you found an acre next to your property to increase your olive oil production for the future and plant other fruit/nut trees too. And, the price was quite excellent. That view from this property is exquisite.. So happy for you two!!
Aww, thank you so much my sweet friend💞 I can't wait to show it to you someday😘
So cool!
Stijn has just turned into a little Italian farmer🤣😂🤣
@@ouritaliandestiny7955 food forests are rad! What other trees are going in?
@@kirstencook3272 I'm not sure what his decided on but he will definitely be adding some fruit trees!
Omg love you guys
I would love to come there in April and work for free on your olive grove for a week
Just feed me the great Italian food lol
Thank you!! April is bad for us, my grandson is coming for his honeymoon 💞💞 The food is pretty fantastic here😋😋
Good bless that’s a great honeymoon place. My daughter is most likely getting engaged and I am definitely looking at places in Italy to host the wedding. If you have any recommendations , let me know. And absolutely a time frame to help there. So excited for you both . A dream come tru for me. Love your videos m. My family is from Montagano compabasso
Very nice
Stijn is totally loving his new grove!
What an amazing view you have there! Looks like an incredible area to live. Good luck with the harvesting. And also Stijn , OMG that jersey brings back so many wonderfull memories of the PI days. grtz , Jan Kusters.
You are right about that, splendid view. Thanks, still had a few sweaters laying around and they are sure coming in handy.
For a food forest it would be easier if you had a gentle slope to slow, catch and spread the rain.
One rock dams, berms, basins, gabions, swales and catchment methods would be easier.
Good luck with the Notary system in Italy.
That's exactly what I am working on, got a small excavator and operator lined up. Unfortunately the land is very saturated now so I'd do quite a lot of harm running heavy equipment on it at this time of year.

Brad Lancaster out of Tucson is the expert on this. Other resources can be found at Watershed Mgmt Group out of Tucson and Borderlands Restoration from Patagonia, AZ.
Good luck.

Great turnout to the story! That was meant to be, eh? Can't wait to visit...how's your weather mid January? XXOO
Thank you so much! January can be a bit chilly🥶 But still beautiful!!
How wonderful! That's one of my dreams come true, right there! We've been looking too but I fear that things are a lot dearer in our area. That's a wonderful deal! Congratulations lovely people! Maybe we can help you pick next year! 🥰🤩🤗😘
That would be awesome!! 💞
@@ouritaliandestiny7955 something to look forward to for sure! Plus you probably need to visit Chianni!!!!🥰🤗😘😘
That's amazing! Congrats guy's how exciting!
Thank you so much 💞
So glad to see you back! Fantastic buy. Perfect location. I visited Castiglion Fiorentino the end of September and was able to put a house under contract in Morra just southwest of Città di Castello. Almost on the Tuscan/Umbrian border. I drove a bit on the north side of Lago Trasimeno. My closing is scheduled for early February and the excitement is incredible. I was hoping you were up to something since it’s been awhile since you posted last. Such great news!
So cool? We can totally understand your excitement !
We'd love to meet up over drinks the next time your here, so please let us know when!
Thanks. I will keep you in the loop. Have you ever been to Lo Scoiattolo 🐿 in Gosparini? Great view of the lake from the north side. I would love to hear about your experiences with getting your drivers licenses. So many people I have met tell me….don’t make any plans fo late October and early November. Harvest time, and all extra hands will be welcome. You both have been a great inspiration to me.
Congratulation for your new trees
Thank you, we're really enjoying them💞
Congratulations! Fantastic idea!
Thank you so much 💞
Very cool and interesting guys.
It was fun having a look around at the different groves for sale. So glad we found this one basically next door! Thank you so much for watching!
What an amazing deal!!! So good to see you both! Congratulations looking forward to more videos and your olive crop! ~Cara 💖
We had a great harvest and that video will be next! Thanks so much for watching 💞🇮🇹
Congratulations! Looks amazing!
Thank you so much!💞
Hi guys, I have been thinking about you and here you are, good to see you back. The olive grove looks beautiful, I would love to try yours when it's finished. I buy mine right now from Olio Carli and it's the best I have ever had, so ordering it online is not a big deal I just have to make sure I do it in time before my last bottle is finished. Good luck and look forward to what comes next. Love from N.Y.
Hi Joni! Thank you so much! We ended up with almost 30 gallons of oil from our trees! Video coming soon😁
Congratulations 🍾
Thank you so much 💞
So happy to see you again! What a wonderful idea to have an olive grove!!
You definitely know how to pick a great place!!!
I was wondering, how hard is to become a resident in Italy? Does it take a long time?🤔
Thank you! Not sure how long it takes but we will start that process in January 💞
Our situation is slightly different from most as we are moving from another EU country, not directly from the US.
Do you know if foreigners are able to purchase olive groves like this? It’s like living a dream, especially with that price 😮
Foreigners can purchase houses so I would imagine they can 💞🇮🇹
How fun, you two! That looks like a good time to me, and for years to come.
(If time) Do you think the Dolomites during Fall is a good time?
Thank you guys for the great info and sharing your Italian lives with us all. 💕
Hi Michele, We think the Dolomites would be beautiful in the fall!
Great and thank you! Let us know if you guys need help harvesting! ☺️
😁 I’m sure you guys get plenty of offers on that but couldn’t resist.
We are enjoying working thru your videos and appreciate you two and how down to earth you are.
Have a great weekend. ☀️
@@micheles.3587 We sure do🤣😂 My best will be here this year for the harvest, but plenty of years ahead!
I figured and couldn’t resist. 😄
Thanks for allowing us all to enjoy your life in Umbria and taking time to get back to me.
Ciao❣️
