Does anybody else realize that straight off the bat, Deckard was a cautionary tale for embracing Silco's philosophy the way Powder would go on to do upon becoming Jinx? Think about it, right off the bat, we see that he's dealing with a lot of the same issues she is. He's weak in a fight compared to Vi and while he manages to hold his own better than Powder did during the street fight, he still gets his ass absolutely handed to him. Much like Powder's reliance on her bombs, we see Deckard fall back on weaponry to give him an edge (with his knife), and just like Powder, is forced to flee with his tail between his legs when he realizes that even the measly blade won't do him much good. Just like Powder, he also wants to be strong and powerful, and is willing to do anything to risk it... including downing the Shimmer and sacrificing his humanity to become a monster who doesn't hesitate to kill- a path that Jinx will soon follow when she becomes Silco's ruthless wild card and gets Shimmer permanently inside her body. In the moment before Vander kills Deckard, we as the audience see him cross the point of no return when he makes up the decision to kill Vi. He doesn't care about the fact that she's helpless, terrified, and injured. All he sees is the chance to defeat her and avenge the humiliation he suffered at her hands. If he'd realized that being a monster isn't something to aspire for and shown Vi mercy (another one of the story's central themes), Vander wouldn't have killed him.
Silco is truly right about power. It isn't obtained by people who are the strongest and smartest. It is the people who do everything to achieve it. He was so inspiring
Can someone explain why everyone is certain Vander is ww but casually says this guy is dead? Sure, he gets "killed" by Vander but Vander gets stabbed and what not and seemed VERY dead later. In the lore, singed ww subject literally dies and singed literally throws his body in an alley or something... "but death proved to be the true catalyst of transformation" And the subject is "resurrected" as ww. Furthermore, when silco offers him the first dose of shimmer, he says "no no it will kill me" and gestures towards the rats cage, presumably because the rat died. My current theory is that Vander is ww and he will return as twitch. Ww has some voice lines hinting that he remembers shades of the past, I think a rematch of them in their new forms would be amazing
i was shockded when i realized he was voiced by Jash Keaton, SPACE DAD. i will say i was VERY excited after knowing it
Me with both him and Jason Spisak
