And in the end, Singed is really one of the only characters who... wins. He actually succeeded and got what he wanted. Most everybody lost something (including some just outright dying) but Singed had a singular goal and his mission was accomplished.
I love that they kept him really neutral. Sure he's inarguably a mad scientist with little empathy for those he treats, but he really just keeps to himself and helps whoever is willing to let him. @@internetloy if you notice when she fires the Super Mega Death Rocket at the end, it has activated runes doing their little floating magic circle when she puts the hextech crystal in. This means she deciphered and applied Jay es and Viktor's notes in a matter of days.

Singed was one of my favorite parts of arcane just because it’s so impressive how much they were able to cram in his character with the little screen time he has, I can’t wait to see more of him in season 2, I’m especially excited to see how he interacts with Machine Herald Viktor
The list of Singed's crimes are long, but he's doing it for the science. Concepts of morality, decency and humanity don't concern him. He will do what the science requires.
Singed in Arcane: Complex, misguided maybe, profound yet disturbing. Understands his actions are viewed as immoral, and why, but holds fast to his convictions. Singed in League: HeEHe HooHAaA WaRcRiMeS~ *ZOOOOOOOOOOMS*
The only thing Singed said in the entire show that seemed false was, "nature has made us intolerant to change." It seems that any living creature has a *staggering* capacity for change. Seagulls used to be predators. Axolotls' can survive otherwise lethal injuries and scavenge amputated limbs from other dead axolotls' and attach it to themselves. The only issue with Singed's expectations is to drastically change in an incredibly short span of time. Viktor's subjects 'wither and rot' because flesh isn't designed to withstand that sort of alteration in that timeframe. Only with artificial resistance (shimmer variant) can the body absorb the mutation without overloading and shutting down.
Singed definitely fears death he just also accepts its inevitability in so many parts of life. I also would not call him a step above Heimer, Jayce and Viktor given they so far don't have much in common goal wise: the former pursue science as a means whereas singed pursues it as an end.
That’s what it means to accept death. Most people fear death, but only a few will accept it for what it is. Even if you don’t fear death, it doesn’t mean you accept it, and vice versa.
Lots of people contrasting Singed's gameplay to his story in arcane. If I remember right, Singed joined the league for the opportunity to test his concoctions on limitless subjects. So his entire purpose in league is not to win, or even fight, but to experiment, to expose as many subjects to his gas as he can. So his gameplay matches pretty well. He's got to survive long enough to observe, so armor and a shield is practical, and the heavy cc helps him survive even longer. You can even consider his allies not suffering from it as evidence that there's a counter toxin that he gives his team before the match. It may be one half of a transformative formula without the stabilizing agent. So it causes those without the agent to die during the process of mutation, but he can examine the effects on their cells post-death. A dead subject may yield more information than a live one. It'd be interesting to see a Singed mini-rework to make him more supportive, making his poison buff allies standing in it during his ult. His kit is already zoning cc heavy, so he functions a lot like a support in teamfights already.
As a singed otp since s2, it tickles my heart how awesome they portrayed my man. All of his scenes were fascinating because his view of the world and life is just incredibly unique
Just realized Heimerdinger and Singed never met in Arcane (if I remember correctly). Despite some of his actions he was indeed a super interesting character
no matter where singed is he (league or arcane) he always ends up being one of the most influential characters throughout runeterra. From saving everyone's' lives to making a horrible chemical for noxus to gas ionia

Of course not, unless it's family or friends. Also, yeah it's a given that those experiments that involve torturing human subjects aren't being facilitated in the name of greater good and saving humanity or something like that. But my answer wouldn't change either way.
This reminds me of bondrewd from made in abyss
Most of humanity progress of science, medicine are from unethical pratices. They are just not done publicly.

this definitely aged well
Good video. When Singed mentioned he once had a daughter I was reminded of Shou Tucker from Fullmetal Alchemist. "The mutation MUST survive."

Him being twisted is the walking contradiction of his character.
I like how he's just a bro. Not some bloodthirsty evil sciencist, or a cold psychopath, but just some dude who lost everything, and his view on life drasticaly changed as a result. He feels pity for Silco, he wants to help Viktor, he doesn't care but he can relate to both of them, so he helps them. The fact that Singed was the only character to get a happy ending is wild.
Only if you assume that Orianna will actually be his daughter and not just a shell like the rest of Viktor's drones.
This man won by just staying calm while injecting shimmer on others while everyone else is dead, vanished in the wild, traumatised, depressed or mutilated lol
Just wait until he sees him now. The only man that got what he desired.
Singed is definitely nuanced and interesting. Looking forward to seeing more of him later. As well as his involvement with noxus and ionia. He's a pretty profound character in the overall lore. Always scheming in the background during major events
Can you imagine Mel's mother recruiting him for Noxus?
Solid chance yes
@@Nparalelonailed it
This video hits so hard knowing that Singed wins in the end
anyone else here after Singed won? dude got everything he wanted, he made some horrors beyond comprehension and uh.. (that thing he really reaaaally wanted)
jaman
And in the end, Singed is really one of the only characters who... wins. He actually succeeded and got what he wanted. Most everybody lost something (including some just outright dying) but Singed had a singular goal and his mission was accomplished.
3:25 - that foreshadowing
I love that they kept him really neutral. Sure he's inarguably a mad scientist with little empathy for those he treats, but he really just keeps to himself and helps whoever is willing to let him. He keeps his word and doesn't necessarily lie to anyone, even warning Viktor of the effects of the shimmer, and has a decent amount of sympathy for Silco and his father/daughter relation with Jinx, but they still managed to keep him somewhat cruel and mysterious. He doesn't *want* to find a way to extend mortal survival, he *is* finding a way, even if that way must include loosing humanity and/or being able to really _live_ at this stage. Really excited abt their plans for him next season
This is a masterpiece. Everything they approached they did it with care & love. From pre production to post production now that's inspiring.
Everyone in Arcane is interesting, including Singed. Vander was such a good father figure character and back when he was alive, the children really did feel safe with him. Him coming back as Warwick would really be great.
Boy oh boy
guess what
Season 2 proved he’s 100% big brain than others
Arcane Singed:" Doesn't fear death or run from it"
League of Legends Singed: I'maa Run every game"
Oh boy, things just got more interesting after Act 2
Crazy how singed is the only one that got his perfect ending
This aged well. Singed is S02 MVP
It's honestly impressive how layered and and interesting they make singed in his short time on screen, you did a great job of capturing and explaining those details my man :)

I'm disappointed that you didn't add Jinx to the list of brilliant minds.
Not only did she replicate Jayce's technology (with his research notes) but she's basically the Diogenes of the series when it comes to approaching death.
Don't forget she even repairs VIs broken guantlet, they don't mention it, but when she carries the tray to the table it's fixed with scribbles all over it. She's probably got the most potential of all of them, but she's got bats in the belfrey.
@@Tubejin Oh, she's nuts. No question about that.
But yeah, she's also brilliant. Viktor praised her engineering when looking at her explosive devices.
Her and Ekko are also definitely up there. Unfortunately, in the series, they haven't done anything to the level of the other four yet (Founding cities, creating Hextech, creating shimmer). These are a bit higher level than explosives and hoverboards.
@@internetloy Oh shit, I completely forgot about Ekko.
He built his hoverboard, and will eventually make a time reset machine.
@@internetloy if you notice when she fires the Super Mega Death Rocket at the end, it has activated runes doing their little floating magic circle when she puts the hextech crystal in. This means she deciphered and applied Jay es and Viktor's notes in a matter of days.
I just noticed that Viktor says the same line to both Singed and Jayce in the last episode "I tried every combination of runes". Maybe it was remembering Singed's advice about the subject to give the gem to young Jayce.
How is it that we all 100% knew it was Vander in that thing, even before its ever implied.
After watching the 6 first episodes of season 2, this aged like a fine wine
This aged very well. You earned yourself a subscriber
Forever mad that he got a happy ending when everyone else didnt. He caused so much pain and gets no punishment for it.
Because he is a cut above the rest. Its literally his character
I think his victory will be hollow. Orianna will not truly be his daughter restored to life. Just a shell like the rest of Viktor's drones rather than truly alive.
As someone who only knew Jinx and Ekko going in, I was shocked to find out he was a champion. They did an amazing job at keeping him and even developing him in the background. Very interesting to see more about what was happening with him from Viktor being a child, to Act I, and then to the time skip.
I love how the video is almost as long as the overall screentime of Singed
Short, but so very meaningful
Welp… you were right. Singed came into the plot got what her wanted and just left… seriously just left the whole world ending story up in the air while he went and accomplished his goals…
i loved every single scene in arcane involving singed. and in arcane 2 even more so. and the entrysong of warwick was just SICK
I don't think that line where he asked "are you willing to lose her?" was about her dying. I think it had to do with the shimmer changing her nature.
nah, shimmer might kill the consumer if said consumer is too weak, the early versions leave the consumer quite weak after the effects run out
I think it could imply both
This random guy I just found talking about Singed predicted Vander's return 2 years ago 😭😭
Singed in Arcane: for the daughter.
Singed in the LoL: Ge-no-cide.
One of the better and more in depth arcane analysis I’ve seen! I’m glad u had soenthin original to say abt the show !!
And I was totally waiting for the Vander scene mention LOL

the way I gasped when you said “vander is back” LIKE I NEVER NOTICED THAT HOLY SHITE
And it's like 99% certain that he'll become Warwick.
I've had my youtube profile picture as singed for 12 years and I don't regret it

Haven't seen any Singed content for season 2 so came here to say he turned out to be the best character in the show for me
watched this two years ago . after watching it again now i understand u were right
Singed was one of my favorite parts of arcane just because it’s so impressive how much they were able to cram in his character with the little screen time he has, I can’t wait to see more of him in season 2, I’m especially excited to see how he interacts with Machine Herald Viktor
The list of Singed's crimes are long, but he's doing it for the science. Concepts of morality, decency and humanity don't concern him. He will do what the science requires.
And that can be very terrifying in itself.
THE RUMBLING OF SCIENTIFIC TRIUMPH
He marches towards a glorious evolution of science huh
coming back to this video post arc 2 season 2 is enlightening
"Jayce is tormented by the prospect of death, especially ... death that he can prevent."
(shows the child he just shot)
Singed in Arcane: Complex, misguided maybe, profound yet disturbing. Understands his actions are viewed as immoral, and why, but holds fast to his convictions.
Singed in League: HeEHe HooHAaA WaRcRiMeS~ *ZOOOOOOOOOOMS*
The only thing Singed said in the entire show that seemed false was, "nature has made us intolerant to change."
It seems that any living creature has a *staggering* capacity for change.
"How about a drink?"
"they will despise you"
singed had a good idea about what would happen
I just realized that the machine at 1:43 is what inspired part of viktors final transformation
When I first saw that I assumed Viktor was going to use it since he turns into a robot herald. But they changed his lore
I love how we have all scientists on the moral-progress spectrum on this show, each with their motivations and flaws.
Singed in Arcane:
Singed in Game: How did that taste
Man, this video has aged *very* well! Singed had the best lines in S2, despite having the least screen time of all the characters.
@@hhjhj393 He's doing that because they're funding his research. In season two he'll probably have the gas weapons for the war with piltover.
Singed is one of my favorites in Arcane. Always a guy with a plan.
Underrated and he was hidden from the spotlight of the series too well
Really insightful commentary. Singed is just one of the many impactful secondary characters, but you make him stand out.
Anyone here to revisit the only winner of the season 2?
Singed literally just vibes at a frequency only he can hear and it scares everyone else.
for someone who doesn't run from death he sure runs a lot.
Singed lore: He doesnt run away from death
Singed gameplay:

Great video man!! love it that you mentioned him being a stoic, makes your video different than the rest
"not a mad scientist, just willing to do anything in the name of science" thats a mad scientist bro
Watching season 2 now, yeah still my favorite character. He's just, well unclouded by emotions, as much as the insane emotions of every other character makes the show great, his calmness and confidence balance them out really well.
The Signed in my team who went 0/21 accepted that death is part of the game and that everyone will hate him
