    I have a total of 6 months at the bedside technically, but only 3 of those months truly count (the other 3 months I was a nurse Extern). I landed a job in an outpatient surgery clinic. Four 10 hour shifts a week, closed on the weekends, 3 day weekends, no holidays and it actually pays me more than what I was making as a new grad. Take a risk everyone!! Some outpatient centers love new people because we don’t have any “habits”, and they can train us from scratch.

      Life As Wendy RN I spent many years using the profit to fund foreign missions in Central America, and Clinical Planting, through “Fastaff Nursing,” and then realized they needed clean drinking water, water wells, and so much more basic needs than I knew how to provide, so I went back to the drawing board, and really figured out a way to help. YOLO, praise God I had time to get it right and really help people and communities. And Praise God for all the help I received along the way to make change happen!!! Amen❤️

    So I have been a nurse for 5 years. I have switched hospitals 3 times, thinking it was the hospital. But, I have now realized its be that cannot do bedside. In March I got super sick with COVID19 and almost died, now I am furloughed and know for a fact I can't go back to bedside. Im still dealing with the side effects of COVID and I am done being miserable at work. I am concerned though that I will be forced to go back to bedside, if I can't find a new job soon.

    • @LifeAsWendyRN
      @LifeAsWendyRN  4 роки тому +4

      TheMissLillian I’m so sorry but I am glad you are alive! Start applying for jobs that interest you that are outpatient. If you know bedside is not for you, try outpatient surgery or outpatient clinics, either primary care or specialties. You can also try your local public health dept or try applying for remote jobs. Or if you want to stay at a hospital, apply there for case management, discharge planner, quality management, or utilization review. Good luck!!!

      Oh man that’s horrible. I hope you are feeling better now. Bedside is hell, so corrupt by the corporation. It’s all for profit and not for patient. It’s so evident and we nurses get blame for everything. The money is just not worth it seriously. I’m thinking to quit my nursing job for good and go back to my old business.

    There are things I loooove about working in the hospital, the hands-on skills, the things I learn, the challenges. But I am even more passionate about preventing disease with lifestyle changes. I’m enrolled in a nurse coach program this spring, and my goal is to have my own private health coaching practice! But I am struggling with leaving the hospital. My dad was an ICU nurse and I always dreamed of being as smart and esteemed as he is. So I am still so torn. Some days I feel like I have to be a martyr for the profession. Any advice???

      It’s a 6-month program, online with some group zoom calls throughout. Very flexible as you can always watch the recordings if you can’t make it. The most time-consuming part is the coaching practicum. I’m sure what you would learn would align well with being a trainer. You do need to have a nursing background for this program. It’s definitely more focused on the overall art of coaching and not on specific nutritional advice or protocols (which we shouldn’t be giving out anyway.) definitely check it out!

    I just stumbled on your site and I’m glad I did. I left a non-bedside nursing role to go back to bedside care. Thinking I could go back and be my old self...no fear, confident, etc, but I was so wrong. I forgot how quickly things can change in the hospital world from charting to hospital management. Anyways, I believe in risks, but will it look bad if I decide to apply to a non-bedside role within a month of starting the bedside nurse role?
