Yeah I use this to help give more oomph to my voice acting. The sound comes out significantly richer sound. Looking at the difference when sound editing is like looking at a bologne sandwich compared to a fully loaded sub. Such meaty soundwaves.

When I started to admire Western music and see training videos on breath , I feel lil inconvenient breathing from the diaphragm or the abdomen .Any tips for this?

I have a question, I like to sing but lets face it, I cant sing anything at all haha but my family has no singers at all, how much of this good singing is down to genetics? I doubt I will ever be able to sing because my voice is rubbish, but what I mean is like in athletics, or body building, you cant just take an average guy off the streets and make him break the 100m sprint record, he would have to have the genetics to be good at sprinting, is this the same for singing? Just because my family is rubbish at singing does that mean I will always be rubbish at singing?

This is awesome. I have watched about 5 videos now and I am very impressed. That was really the coolest watching Gabriela sing those different songs, do them so so well, hit the notes and make each song her own. Just perfection. y'all just blew me away and even though there weren't any ballads, religious songs or talk of anything goosebump worthy, the way she sang and hit those notes and with such power was absolutely goosebump causing, amazing and just a HUGE, WOW factor. Gotta hit the hay, but I look forward to more videos tomorrow. Thank you Ken for putting out these videos they ought to get more people if nothing else feeling better themselves, singing happy loving and fun walk down memory lane songs......songs like Jerry Reed's, Amos(funny & memory lane)50's. 60's, 70''s & 80's rock and country music one cannot go wrong with most of it, there is some of course, but I just want the uplifting songs, love ballads, , good for health exercise psychology and plain ole happiness!!!!! thank you both for sharing!!!!!!!!

Your demonstration of diaphramatic support was so simple and accurate. I was taught this by someone who studied music at a.conservatory in russia. I was made to lie down and a heavy book placed on my abdomen then I breathed in and out. Diaphramatic support is well exemplified in the singing of the late Pavarotti, Andrea Boticeli(The Prayer). It seems difficult at first but you learn with practice. Just do it even when singing in the shower. The end result is so comfortable, beautiful, joyful, relaxing etc.

Thankyou for making these videos! I'm a girl who loves doo- wop more than anything and singing songs from the 50s and 60s are really high. One of my uncle's who was in a band his friend who was also a singer in the band taught me a little singing from a recorded video she took, and it was hard to breathe when I sang. Reason was I would get light headed and my voice would crack. A lot of my parents friends say that I'm a very good singer and I hate singing in front of people! I started practicing singing at the end of my senior year and am almost 21. I feel like I'm at the studio with you learning right by your side and theses videos have helped me soooo much! One time I almost thought about trying out for American Idol, but chickened out. Thankyou sooooooooo much for making anyone of us feel right at home and for taking the time to teach us how to sing better. Even if it's for fun, like in the car!!!

Very interesting that you bring the abdominals in, rather than out, while supporting the tone. I've always found that this approach makes the tone more harsh/strident and generally makes it more difficult to dial up the correct breath pressure needed.

Ken really shows you what breathing is all about and diaphragmatic singing is in the prof of this clip. I really want to clarify a couple of things though. Not that I am an expert but I have been around. Most vocal coaches stress that you should breath with your tummy but if you do you are mostly inclined to collapse your chest. Ken says to keep your chest partiality expanded while breathing and this is at least the most important lesson. At least for me. No stomach out without a rised chest and comfortably backward lowered shoulders.Ken's video shows what it as about. The proof is in the singing!

Hello from Czech Republic (Gabriela Guncikova´s birth country). Ken you´re amazing, thank you very much, cause you´re really helping me. Now and every day. Every day I warm up my voice with your tutorial or just by myself and strenght of my chest voice grows up. I have a few questions but at first I must go through all your videos and discover if I´m able to find some answers there. However thank you again and good luck in everything you do.

This and head tones (mask) are a must! I continually need to remind myself of this because I don’t sing as often as others. I have a bad habit of singing from my chest which leads to throat which results in exhausting your voice and vocal cords. Great tip singers! Love your tips Ken; much appreciated!

You are probably the best vocal coach out there, so methodical and to the point and easy to understand for even a beginner like me who cant sing for shits :D.
All examples I have seen u do makes complete sense and is very much executable on the fly.
Im totally recommending your academy to my musical freinds!
Keep rockling and spread your knowledge so we can have real skill in the music industry!

Hey Ken, solid information and great demonstration! The air support technique appears similar to what pro trumpet players use for higher notes (they call it abdominal compression). I started back on trumpet just over a year ago and with this technique I have played notes higher than I could in college.
After a few minutes experimenting with this, the high end of my vocal comfort zone (right now about D4-F4) has already felt better and stronger. Thanks for the good tip!
