Well, what makes the song special is that:
1) actually a girl is saying this to her lover but a male is singing it,( you souldve seen the original song)
2) the song conveys the pain of uncompleted love,in the deepest sense,she has just realised she n him are not gonna end up together(you shouldve seen the original song)
3) after the song completes she will take her own life after pouring her heart out(you shouldve seen the original song)
[in case you see the original video offline: they couple dies twice--in the past life n then again in present--this song and "tere naam se jee loon"(another masterpiece) sung by him has literally changed the love life of that generation where in that song there are 5 different love stories that end up in different endings where as this one ends in suicide ]
You need lyrics to actually understand the feel of this song. There's a serenity to each word sung in the song.
This song just hits so deep within me that I can't hold my tears back and IDK, its not sorrow or fear or happiness. Just feels divine.
I miss this when singers used to sound different then one another and used to make album at the same time. Nowadays everyone sounds same and very less creative. The only region that has that is Punjabi music industry(qualitywise) where singer have full freedom to make their own songs but we have to acknowledge that Indian (specifically in this case Hindi) lyricist still remains same still giving great lyrics.
You know there is Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malyalam, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese music industry which are very rich and better than Hindi and Punjabi. It is just the taste, liking of a language and personal preference of a person.
It's not just punjab.. but regional music is still doing great not just regional but also indie Indian music is also very different and at its best, the main stream music has gotten worse...
Regional music and Indie music are always good. It just Bollywood who lost its charm.
I am a Bengali and enjoy my traditional Rabindra sangeet, but I am also a fan of Tamizh music.
