The song is originally from a movie called 'taal' and the whole album for the movie was composed by A R Rehman. All the songs are pretty good in it.

There are 3 parts of an Indian Classical piece.
1) Alap - This is the beginning part of a song. Usually, the vocalists start slowly with a lot of elongated notes and slow rhythms. The notes are the combinations of various raag chalans.
2) Jor - This is the main part of the song where the song progresses and lyrics come in. Here, the singers stick to the basic composition.
3) Jhala - In this part, the tempo of the song is increased. Most of the vocalists and musicians try to improvise in this part as you have seen in this performance.
Most of the bollywood music has this sort of a progression. The Indian music is formed to make your mind ecstatic. Similar to how we reach an orgasm, the strokes are slower in the beginning, then we go in rythms and finally we stroke fast leading to an orgasm. Indian classical music is set in a similar way so that the mind can reach the point of ecstacy through music.

Fortunately I hv experienced live concert of three legendary singers : Sonu Nigam, K.K. and Sukhwinder Singh. Honestly speaking I loved his the most. I actually lived that moment. He is so down to earth and it was a stormy evening, the whole stage n surroundings were devastated. Still he continued with full energy n vigour almost two hours
He improvises in every performance..he is genius .He doesn't have one bad song .

As a tabla player, it's so cool and exciting to see Efra start to look into it (def wanna see an Efra tabla unboxing and jam lmao). Tablas do actually come in different pitches based on things like the size of the head but you can also tune them to certain pitches after getting one by moving the wooden blocks. Chhaiyan Chhaiyan was his first Hit song and since then he never stopped.
Indian music is based on melody. So each person whether singing or playing an instrument, is going with the melody. As they are following a melody rather than harmonising, cues are not required. They already know the whole melody, so they know the time to come in as well. Western music is based on harmony concept. Each person plays or sings a different piece in a different way, that is why they need to harmonise and have pre written music and cue sheets to know when to join. In Indian music as all the people are playing the same melody, improvisation by any person does not affect the other person, they simply keep to the melody. All Indian music including raag and instruments use melody rather than harmony as the base.
You should listen his "Chal chal mere sang chal " and "Ruth aa gayi re " song. Both songs are amazingly on another level.
