What did I miss??? When did Kelly get a box truck? Have I been under a rock (I am a rockhound lapidary guy so most likely)? Always good to see you Brian, you are much better than any travel channel since you relate to real people. Peace out to you, Kelly and of course Hobbs.

I mostly agree with you on the 14 day rule, but also have no issue with bending the rules as needed (too muddy after a rain, too windy on planned travel day, pet not feeling well, etc..). But yes, definitely shouldn't stay beyond your ability to leave no trace.
I tend to find the locals far more abusive of the rules than the nomads. Can't tell you how many times I've seen an area full of unoccupied trailers, aka locals reserving their site for the weekends. And household trash dumping is most certainly locals as well.

There are some places (like the Utah side of Flaming Gorge) with 16-day camping limits. So what happens is locals come up on a weekend, leave their unoccupied trailers in prime camping spots during the work week, then come back for the following weekend. That sucks for the rest of us.

The rangers have been stepping up patrols and closing more areas off because of people abusing the land. It's sad to see. I was at Quartzsite camping by Dome Rock in January and witnessed it first hand. People cutting down trees to burn, dumping trash, and tanks. One guy told me he didnt move for the whole winter. It was "his spot".

So nice to see people are happy that Kelly has a new truck. However, she lost her Mom recently and is still dealing with that loss. Just give her the time and space she needs for that. I am sure she will address it on her channel when she is ready. The loss of your Mother is devastating and there's no time line on grief. Right now at this time of the year , it's particularly difficult. Just be try to be patient , give her space and respect her privacy. She won't let you down. Man Brian, you are such an inspiration! I been watching your videos since 2017, I got my first van in 2020, been living in my van for almost 4 years now and every time I need some motivation you are the guy! Sometimes I don’t watch new videos right away so I can binge a couple later, I just love them. I am such a homebody and I also get so much social anxiety, so I spend a lot of my time at home being crafty. We haven’t been able to leave MA because we are afraid of the “what if” on the road, so we been doing vanlife in MA for now (not the best place for van life though). I know what you mean on one of your videos, I also make content and edit them and sometimes even upload them but never make them public because I don’t feel that people would like it or find it interesting or that I didn’t edit or record that much. But finding people that will still push themselves to do it, inspires me to do it too! Thank you for making content, I honestly am happy that I found this channel back then, so helpful.
Wish you guys the best of luck, a great year of new memories to come! Take care you guys!

Once again Brian, an amazing park up, perfect location, perfect weather, great company. I'm looking forward to hearing all about Kelly's new van, it'll be interesting to hear how it compares to the Transit.
Messy campers have ruined park up place here in the UK, van dwellers (full time or part time) are losing good free spots by the day, due to inconsiderate folks. I could go on further but it could take a while.
Stay safe, best wishes to Kelly and Hobbes 😊

Just wanted to say i recently purchased an electric All-Wheel-Drive utility scooter called an UBCO (New Zealand made). Man I'm really loving this thing and now trying to sell a couple of my Adv gas bikes.
The UBCO has a 3.1 kw battery in it and only weighs 150lbs (with battery) and as i already stated it's AWD with 2 hub motors. It's a street legal scooter (no pedals) and classified as under 50cc. I'm still keeping my smaller dirt bike but i can't stop riding this UBCO and hikers just smile and wave when I'm on the trail with them. I also unintentionally sneak up on small critters which is pretty funny LOL.

The only reason we have all these rules in society is because there are a handful of !@#$%^&***** People that don't care and then everyone pays the price. It is what it is. these rules imposed on public lands are really easy to follow and common sense. we need these rules to keep these freedoms open us now and the future. We should all be way more respectful of the public lands... It doesn't take long for a few bad apples to ruin it for everyone. Try to hold people accountable and be vocal about respectful camping/land use. Idc if the inside of your camper is a hoarder nightmare as long as you don't leave the campsite looking like your personal dumping ground.

You're not preaching Brian. Just stating a fact. I've noticed more trash left behind this last year. I'm in a van but I still try to take out a little that was left behind by others. 😉

i used to live around the corner from there and i can’t figure out exactly where that camp is lol. i certainly recognized the road when you were on your bike though. yeah that mountain is covered in snow much of jan-feb. i like to think most respect the rules but like with many things there’s a few bad apples spoiling it for the rest of us. away we go!

Hey, Brian! I'm looking to travel down south this winter from Montana. Right now, Montana is really dry and warm. I actually went out riding electric scooters tonight. I'm looking to travel to somewhere warm for about a week, probably not in my bus or van, but I want to enjoy the warmer weather for the first time and see some other states by renting an SUV on Turo and buy some cheap supplies ill donate when I'm done. I have some back problems, but I would like to do some walking and enjoy some beautiful spots like that or some cool areas I could easily walk. If you, or anyone else, has some recommendations, I'd love to check them out. Never been to New Mexico, or Arizona. My aunt has a trailer they're planning to sell in Las Cruces and aren't heading there this year due to health. I was hoping to go around with them, so I don't have plans anymore.

Another thought....What if the rangers checked you in at the campsite. Take pictures of the site. Then they they check you out after 14 days . Again taking pictures. If you leave early and leave a mess then you are sent a fine in the mail. Just a thought.

Yes, after two weeks it seems to have more potential to begin looking like a trashy homeless camp. Stop it before it can get started.

I agree with your thoughts on the 14 day rule. If someone stay too long in one place, they do make an impact it appears.

It's been 50yrs since we saw the commercial with the tearful Indian. When will these knuckleheads learn that if they leave a mess, these lands will be closed to us and future campers?

Brian, your deep love for the land is very evident when you talk about those landscapes, and like you, I hope all show respect at least and don’t leave a messy footprint.

Might be a silly question but how do you go about your number 2 business in these remote places?

Thank you for adding NAMES to the different trees and bushes. I enjoy learning their names.
