*My name is Brian. I started living full time in a self built camper van in 2014 in my hometown of San Diego, CA. I hit the road full-time in 2015 to pursue seasonal work and travel around the U.S. I find free camping on public land and enjoy photography, hiking, biking, and kayaking in nature. Hi Brian! So good to see you checking in. I do hope you feel a lot better soon! Love watching your videos and adventures and it always makes me happy that you and Kelly adopted Hobbs. None of us knows what Hobbs went through before Kelly's Mom took him. I have had rescue pugs for the last 20 years. Each one has their own unique personality and needs, just like humans. Lots of patience, love and understanding needed. I love seeing the wildlife you share with us. So many people see the desert as an empty barren wasteland, but it just takes some time to really see all the life and beauty out there! Enjoy. Have a nice holiday visit with family and know you have many many friends out here.

Hobbs is a territorial dog he wants you and Kelly he too is grieving and can react to your emotions as well. Yes...I think he is probably territorial and just watching over Brian and Kelly, (in addition to grieving his loss.) My little long-haired dachshund used to do the same. It was just the TWO of us, so she was very "picky" about whom she liked and wanted in "our" space. Hobbs is such a beautiful boy.

The fact that you make Hobbs feel so loved and secure just WARMS my heart and soul. Anyone who lets his/her dog sleep in the bed with him/her is a BEAUTIFUL SOUL in my book! I lost my dog in 2021 and I'm still not over it. She was a long-haired miniature dachshund named Winnie. She slept with me from the very first night that I brought her home. Like Hobbs, she always barked at strangers(and I think that she was just overly protective of me). Hobbs is a beautiful dog...with beautiful people...living out the remainder of his life knowing that he is LOVED. God bless you, Kelly and Hobbs. I just subscribed and I'm binge-watching your wonderful videos today.
I too had a small Chihuahua he was very close to my late wife and I and when he became full time with me he was very protective. We both joined, Lorries way group in Arizona during the 21/ 22 season and we had a good time he wasn't against anyone but some people didn't like him so I left my Mickey was a very good judge of character and that's all that matters to me. I too had to put him down and I know he went home to his human momma. They are our life's love and always will be. I've since gone back to a regular life and not on the road anymore. How awesome you’d adopt a senior dog, especially one with a few issues. I am a animal lover and I just appreciate people who sacrifice to give animals a good life. I love your honesty about your anxiety issues. My son has suffered with anxiety that has been life altering since he was a teenager. It is so helpful when others are honest about their struggles, I know it helps my son to feel he is not alone. God bless Brian.

I saw you on Cheap RV and liked you, the person, so much I began your videos from the beginning. When I saw the video in which you first realized you had made the right decision, to go on the road, I was filled with joy at seeing such joy from you. I like your long videos. I adore your cooking videos. Hobbs is wonderful, and we too have challenging dogs [2] that we dearly love. I also am challenged by being around people, the exception being my dear husband. and although I am energized initially by contact with other people, I end up drained and long for my treasured time with just my husband and our dogs. Totally enjoy all you do. Thanks.

I like watching you cook, and food is so healing, Apple Cider vinegar and beet juice both are priceless to health. Ginger onion and surprisingly Bell peppers fried up in egg and a lot of onions. My very old mother really perks up with the egg fried bell peppers. Also fried up cabbage with onion and carrots. Love meats but feel better with less. At times. Hope you’re taking vit D3 . Helps with so much 800- 1000 most days. Peace✌🏻 👍🏻🇺🇸☕️

I started watching you when you came through Knoxville a few years ago. You went to parts of this area that are familiar to me and I found it very enjoyable and as some say, peaceful. We are wranglers to my 95 year old father who is in pretty good shape, but, we don’t get to go there so-much for now. And then!You took me places I had never been before. You still are! Thanks, Brian, as always. Frankly, like so many have said, I too consider your videos and commentary to be healing ...in world seemingly gone mad. Indeed, I always feel serene after watching one. You're contributing so much good. Please don't ever feel that you're not doing enough. The vast majority of us don't even ask the question "am I doing enough" to make the world a better place. You have, you are.
Brian, I enjoy your videos and yes they are very calming. We had a dog that we cared for that had extreme anxiety and had to give him Prozac which did help. Anyone else would have probably given up but we felt it was our honor to make his life as happy and peaceful as possible. He passed at age 14 but those years were filled love and kindness both that we gave and he gave back. Hang in there and I hope the holidays are the best they can be for you and your family.
May you once again find your peace as you have helped me find mine. ✌

Sorry to hear you weren’t feeling your best, but glad you are the way to recovery. This time of year is hard for a lot of people. Plus so much sickness with colds, flu etc. There are some in our own family who have a hard time dealing with the holidays like you. It’s not always “the most happiest time of year” for a lot of folks. So glad you and Kelly took on the responsibility of Hobbs. He is so sweet. Yes, they can be just like people when they react to environment, other animals, or people. We had a rescue dog too, a terrier mix who was very much like that. I’m sure it has to do with their life before they were rescued. Just like people, it determines how they react to certain things. You, Kelly and Hobbs have a great holiday….doing what YOU love! 💗

Hey there Brian ✌🏼my long lost brother from the road. You have an amazing group of humans in your tribe and I always read them in your comments section because they are kind, grateful and generous. That says a lot about you my friend.
You are, by far, my favourite UA-camr, Brian. Your videos are inspiring, informative and as others have said, calming and peaceful. It is so wonderful seeing you, Kelly and Hobbs enjoying time together. I, too, have a rescue dog who is challenging around other people/dogs but so loving when he is in a comfortable situation. He will be my travel companion when I eventually set out for full-time travel and I will likely experience the same situations on the road. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. I relate to the "grin and bear it" stance as the holidays have often been a difficult time for me and I appreciate that you want to post content for those of us craving an escape! I get down at Christmas time, my farther passed away when I was only 8 years old. Here I am 50+ years later still disliking Christmas, but I still try and make an effort for my wife and kids.

I totally “git it”….And totally understand the seasonal nature of life…and that inexplicable unease that comes this time of year for so many of us…as far as people getting “ounces” of peace from your videos…my wife and I would measure that more in pounds and for that we are very grateful. When I got home I was on a month of very limited activity. That is when I discovered your videos and began following you. I can’t begin to thank you for the peace, calm, and adventure you and Kelly have brought into my life. It has been such a helpful part of my recovery. Hi Brian. As always, love your content. I too am introverted with social anxiety. I went to Quartzsite once and it was incredibly stressful for those reasons. Also, with all the crowds jamming up the tower, the cell data is nonexistent.
One type of content that you used to make that I enjoyed was when you were building your truck. Obviously, you're not doing that anymore, but I find that many vanlifers have creative solutions to common problems (I loved your steel pipe and flange substitute to a Lagun table mount). Maybe you can do a periodic series on something like this? I recently got a giant spare tire mounted backpack for garbage storage, allowing me to get rid of my hitch mounted cargo carrier, which was dragging on any uneven surface, even contributing to me getting stuck once. Gamechanger. I also built a spice rack like you have in your kitchen, another simple but significant life improvement.
Whatever you do, keep up the good work. You're a genuine chill dude, and that's much appreciated.

Thanks for the video, both parts. Most of my Christmas stress problem was over gifts. I never seemed to find anything meaningful to give by the time I started shopping. I solved the gift problem for a few years with gifts to charities in people's names. Now I just love on my family during the season; my gift is all the time I spend driving to visit them. I don't feel a shred of guilt, and they're spared pretending to be grateful for some gift that they don't actually want.
