A dog is truely mans best friend! This dog is a wonder of Joy, I lost my Sheltie two years ago & I have not found a dog that could replace him, his love was always there & he knew when I was feeling bad, he also would awake me a hour befor a bad storm was coming! This dog has a heart of Gold!
The beauty of golden retrievers---they ALWAYS seem genuinely happy! [doubtless there have been exceptions to the rule, d/t abuse for example] . I've always held that given a job to occupy their considerable gifts, focus and dedication/devotion, they truly can be/are happy!
Dogs have 4-legs, not 2 for a reason. They will do anything to please their owners, even if it causes them moderate to severe pain or future damage, such as hip dysplasia or early arthritis, common in these goldens or large breeds. Please don’t mistake their undying love of you for pleasure (without consequence) for them. This goes for running with your pet long distances as well.
@Matyme I have had Goldens for 20 years and some of them just like to be on their hind legs. My current male is like that. We call him a hugger because that's how he greets everyone. And he doesn't just hug either. He will walk around on his hind legs following his favorite people. Most likely, this dog has an intensely close relationship with his owner because this seems to be why Leo (my dog) has developed this habit
There is no evidence that walking on the hind legs will cause hip problems. In fact, hip dysplasia occurs in dogs who walk on all four legs. A couple of years ago, I read about a dog who always walked on her hind legs due to not having front legs. Her owner taught her to do that rather than euthanizing her. No problems with her hips and she was pretty old for a dog.
@skynie09 I know that Goldens have joint problems when they get older and yeah you are right that this is probably not good for them but it it is no different from taking them to the park and let them run around for hours like many people do.

@RosarioRiveraMusic i also find this excessively cute, but i would not want to teach my golden to do sth like that, golden retrievers are well known with their hip joint problems, i don't think doing this would help... she might be liking it at the moment, but as a owner we should think about when they get old, unless we don't expect to, even she is not painful for now, and actually enjoy it, how about when she gets old and cannot do it anymore? she might get upset... or might come tumbling down
