Sharla in Japan where are you? Am missing your posts. Hope you are ok.
Guys, if you're looking for her, she's been active on her other channel "Sharmander" it seems
Will you live stream trying to see the swans again?
Omg I love this guy! He looks so happy performing. It's contagious and I love it!!
I love how they work so hard to preserve their art and keep it going through generations!
Has its good and bad sides, if you're forced into doing something you don't want to learn. But if you're willed to, you can't find a better teacher than your ancestors
The way the performer explained how he is not moving by his own, is like previous performers are moving his body for him was very touching, the guy was full of emotion. The swan boat was cute. Awesome video, you did great promoting this place.
OMG....... more Sharla content... i have been watching alllllll your videos on Sharmeleon and went over here and MORE TO WATCH :)!!!!!!!!!!! So excited!!!!!!
Oh my god! I got to visit that paper craft shop with my taiko group a couple of years ago and we met Hashimoto-san. We later brought him out to my hometown in Maui to perform at our local matsuri. I’m happy to see he is still so lively and full of energy!!
Maui as in one of the Pacific Islands?
As soon as he put the mask on I knew I was going to witness something special 😂
That man was awesome! He’s so fun and inspiring! What an amazing guy!
He's so awesome! Had me laughing and smiling the whole interview!
Thanks Sharla, really enjoyed this video - these ones where you meet up with local people and enjoy local crafts are always great!
You always have the most positive attitude about everything. I’ve never seen you in a bad mood no matter what happens. It’s so refreshing to see you because you always had such a great presence.
I m a 53 th french woman and i follow your hight quality vid and i always enjoy all of them. Thanks a lot Sharla for your English so easy to understand and your smiles so pretty.
That dancing guy is PURE ART
The man doing the dance was so cool, it's cool to see something that looks kind of for lack of a better word "silly" but then hearing such a touching backstory to something like that.
That guy made me so happy! Everyone should try to live life with that attitude. It’s easier said than done, but it’s so nice to see! ☺️❤️
I love how passionate and dedicated the preformer was. He did a marvelous job! It looked so crazy and fun to try too
I can not express how much I love your videos, it always feels like I just got out of my country for a little while and explored with you!
That old man is living his best life. He is my spirit animal. I want to be happy like him.
I think this may be my favorite you’ve ever done! I want to dance with that man!!!
This video made me smile. I really enjoy watching your conversations with these artists as they share their craft.
I love Japanese culture so much. The passion and love they have for their history is so contagious.
A human puppet show! He was definitely filled with joy and spirit! I had seen a show a while ago that spoke of how the Japanese master craftsmen were getting old, and in order to get younger people involved in traditional crafts and arts, the government funds them so the history and culture is not lost. I think that is great, and wish more countries could do it.
Sharla in Japan, this was such an incredibly joyful video, thank you so much for sharing your life with us. Hugs to you!
Your travel videos are always so beautiful and magical. Like a fairy tale. Thank you so much for continuing to share them!
Love seeing all the amazing places you visit and learning about the local culture.
I loved this video so much! my new favourite i think! I loved seeing the snow in the background! I have never seen snow so it made me so happy!
Happy New Year! May this be a happy and fruitful year.
So beautifully snowy
You and the coolest man in Japan were soooo cute together! That duo was definitely giving Shaylor a run for their money 😂
That onsen hotel is somewhere I need to stay once I get booked , thank you sharla
The swans were beautiful to see, but Mr. Hitoji stole the show. It's great that he's carrying on a long family tradition. Back here in the States he'd be dismissed as just some weirdo, but what he does is part of the culture there and it's just plain fun.
Thank you for sharing this one enjoyed everything.
Why didn't I see this until now ;-;
It was sooo funny how you were like "We still have hope' 2secs later "I almost lost hope' HAHAHAHHAHA
This adventure looked soooooo cool and definitely worth checking out ^_^
OMG I laughed so hard at the end. Looks like you had fun
Yes! I love the culture bonding time! We need more people like you than division.
Thank you for this video. Been a rough few weeks for me, and this is seriously the first time I’ve giggled in ages.
THE OLD MAN IS SO ADORABLE OMG. THATS HOW COOL I WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP.
Every video you put out makes me incredibly overjoyed after a long day! Thanks for making me smile!
This looks like such a fun day. I loved this content. You are so much fun to watch. Keep doing what you are doing.
Seeing you dance with that guy made me smile so much
This video is uplifting, beautiful, informative, cute, funny & well edited ☺️
Aww the dancing guy. Truly one of the coolest. 👍🏻
You are so awesome you are going through this so that you can show people that can't be there an amazing video
That man way of dancing and everything is so lively :D it was so much fun watching his performance.
That dancing was amazing, so good!
When the gent started dancing my cat perked up next to me and started growling at the TV! Bahahah he did not appreciate the random dancing and mask change. XD lolol!
Hahahaha too funny
So early.
Fun fact about swans: The sound they make comes from their wings when flying and not from themselves. Ironically they are sometimes called 'mute swans' even tough they are very loud in my own experience.
Also, every swan in England belongs to the Queen.
[The last one is not verified, it's just something I got told and I'm sorry for the randomness of this comment.]
After seeing this video: Ah, I think it's so amazing that they still pass on these jobs from generation to generationa and I am *so* impressed by the art on the daruma :o
Both yours and his actually. Obviously his way better, but it's his job anyway, and I think for your first try it was really good. Painting with small brushes is both nice and super complicated, so I feel ya xD
Your figurehead made me happy.
YAY (๑>◡
You get to experience so much Sharla, thanks for sharing the people of the world I wouldn't get something like that here in the states. Japan and other places have something special.
Me sees a tall man behind Sharla: "he's probably Dutch"
Sharla: "Introduce yourself'
Man: "I'm Joost".
Me: 'Yup, I recognise my Dutchies'.
Philippien hahaha
My thoughts exactly :D
SAME. I just knew he was Dutch >.< then I heard his name and I was like jup he's Dutch, yaaaay
Hahaha! I was thinking the exact same thing, Philippien.
His name already gave it away but when he started to talk there was no way going around that dutchie accent 😂
I loved seeing your genuine excitement for the swans. Such a beautiful place, and you looked like you had so much fun throughout the whole video.
I loved the energy you both had preforming. What a beautiful adventure!
Aww I love how passionate and enthusiastic Mr. Hasimoto Hiroji is about dancing! Hehe it just makes the experience seem much more lively :D
The Dutch are so prolific even the ad algorithms recognize Joost as one. Why else would I have an ad for vacation in the Netherlands while watching a video about Japan? :p
*high fives fellow Dutchies*
Everything was so cute !! The snow, the swans, the ducks, the lake, your prink totoro, the performance & you ! Thank you for sharing that was awesome 😍 I love how confortable you are in front of the camera, you know exactly what to say without rumbling or anything and that's SO HARD TO DO haha. You're amazing 🙌
I am looking forward to more of your heartwarming travel vlogs, it is so much fun to watch !
These two days were so perfect! Loved the bathhouse scenes and the music to the comical dancing was so catchy! I need a cd for my car.
Great look at the lake with all those pintails (ducks) and swans
Oh my goodness. I was watching and went to put my wash into the dryer. When I came back in the guy was dancing on my tv and I was laughing so hard I woke my son up from nap. Thank you I needed a good laugh. It's been a rough week 😂
Love this video! The lake with the snow and the swans was so beautiful! Loved the crafts and the dancing. Looked like an amazing trip
I watched all this in cartoons during my childhood such as shin cham, kochikame etc. Never knew they were a part of Japanese culture irl. This is so beautiful.
Oh my goodness Sharla, what an amazing two video adventure in Fukushima! The onsens look like paradise on earth, the winter sceneries are lovely and the last dancing was just so great! Japan is such an amazing country! 🗾🏮🎎🎋
What a great adventure! Love watching your fun experiences!
What fun! So much talent. First the painting, then this performance. 😄
What a great vlog! I loved the snowy lake. Your Totoro was _very_ good, I wouldn't have known it was your first try. And I loved watching the two of you dance together!
Loved this! The whole video looked like so much fun.
The old man is soo cool! 🤣 He seems to have a really fun life 🕺🏻 Thank you Sharla for sharing these experiences with us ❤️ A lot of love from germany! 🤗
The dancing gent is probably already much older than he looks but I bet he will reach a 100 years because he's so full of energy and joy. :)
This video is amazing! The dancing looked so fun!!!
I'm so happy you were able to see the swans!!
I know this is an older video but I'm glad I saw the chance to hear you speak in Japanese.
Still can’t believe she’s no longer in Japan. ‘Sharla in Korea’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Absolutely wonderful! Loved the swans!
The snow was really coming down. It looks beautiful! Interesting job Joost has.
That old guy was amazing!! So funny!
Glad you had such great last days in Japan!
Whhooo! You dance Sharla! That was great. That lake was beautiful.
Beautiful snowy contrast 💕
Sharla darning is easily my most favorite moment of 2018. Easy.
Your Canada is showing with all this great appreciation for snow and cold...
So amazing... one of your best videos to date! ♡ Thank you.
Hashimoto-sans brush control is amazing, I would be honored to learn from him
Your shared Hyottoko Dance made my day!
I'm gonna miss these type of videos from you! I love learning about all the different traditions and the culture. You're always super informative
今晩は本当に銀世界が好きそうですね。祖父の家の絵画が気に入りそうですよね。しかも冬服がとても可愛く似合ってますね。これが東北なんだなぁ~母方の場所か~
Looks like a beautiful place to visit.
Hahaha I loved when he put the mask on you and let you try too, so funny :D
The swans on the lake are absolutely beautiful
Really enjoyed your video. I had a big smile the whole time. 😁
What a fabulous trip!!!
That was really cool! It was fun to watch :)
This was a great video! I hope I can visit there some day! At least I can live through your videos!
Omg this all looks like so much fun!!
Omg the juxtaposition of the cute girlish squeals and the mask had me grinning like a fool. It looked like so much fun. I felt like I was watching it in person.
Loved this video 😄
The old man dancing was sooo funny 😂 And you dancing with him was awesome 😄 He's a great performer 😉😄
Looks like a pretty cold place but beautiful.
Further north in Rokkasho, Aomori. We get a lot of those swans. And you don't gotta get up early as hell for em either.
Love how people are so passionate in their jobs
That swan boat in the background is amaaaaazing :D
