      It kind of makes me uncomfortable when people brag about themselves. But it really shouldn't. If someone is amazing at something and put a lot of effort into it, they should be able to be proud of their work.

    Sharla, this video is great!! I absolutely LOVED the introduction! Learning/Trying out new formats? Looking more and more "professional"! When I get to Japan, I'm definitely spending my time in Tohoku! I laughed at the "176th time you've heard oiishi". ;) Can't wait for part two!!

    3:40 Sharla I agree with another comment that it's likely a different dialect. I can tell she's saying something about being on the edge of something and mixing up something as well. Most likely how she's throwing the seed along the string line there and how it turns into the soil? I think lots of viewers might not realize there are different dialects across Japan. Thanks for the great video! Tomato was hilarious!

    OMG!!! I love this video, it shows so much how Japanese live and how they do some things, and I really like how you adjusted to their lifestyle, it's so amazing! I hope I can have experience like that, because I would really like to visit Japan someday!!! ^^

    For people wanting to travel to Tohoku on a budget, the Shinkansen can be very expensive, but I had an excellent experience with willer bus company! Sure it was a long day of travel, but the bus was very comfortable, made convenient stops and was less than half the price of the Shinkansen!

    I had a (sort of) country homestay in September. I stayed in Tome, in north Honshu for 4 days. The dad was a Shinto priest, and I saw a lot of the spiritual stuff. It was really cool.

    I actually have 2 of those persimmon plants in front of my house and I think they are sweet when ready. I'm in central California people would always ask to pick some when they walk by my house. BTW love your dimples

      She said it was her first time cooking completely vegan, but in general it doesn't differ much from their usual diet! She replaced the fish broth with mushroom broth, so I think that was the biggest difference for her :)

    i would love to do a homestay on a farm like that :) i would work so hard but my health is not so great so i don't think that will ever happen :'(

    You said the soup was made with edamame instead of soybeans. But aren't edamame a type of soybean? That's how they market them in the U.S. anyway.

    Okaasan is super cool. She was so nice and really funny, too.
    I'm really interested to find out how dry ice removes bitterness from the persimmons (and presumably other foods as well). Any clue?
