    I am beginner, having crocheted only 3 baby blankets and was looking for a boarder of all that is simple and attractive. Your tutorial was nicely presented, easy to follow and want to thank you for introducing me to this new stitch. It did take a bit of practice to get the hang of the pulling of the 2nd to last yarn around and figured out the importance of swiveling the crochet hook while pulling, which helped increase accuracy and speed.... love how it looks, great boarder choice!

It was very easy for me to follow the step action so thank you again because I am new to crocheting, but I think I got a little bit confused at the first corner with the herringbone double crochet and completing it with the slip stitch. At that point, I chain one and started the pattern from the very beginning. Did I do that, right?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 роки тому +1

      No you are adding extra stitches in the corner. Each corner should have 3 stitches so are increasing. You are increasing 8 stitches per row, so 2 stitches per side.

    • @yvonnemcrobbie2375
      @yvonnemcrobbie2375 2 роки тому +1

      You have solved my problem. Obvious to most but being leftie Im always overthinking what rightie is doing. Regarding borders, you explain the corners so well but I didn’t understand the increasing. Now I will never let a border confuse me. I wonder why even the most basic tutorials don’t verbalise this stitch increase. So Basic not to be explained but I need every basic detail.

    Lovely, if I wanted the corners sharper how would I go about that?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  3 роки тому +1

      You would need to work a (herringbone half double crochet, Chain 2, Herringbone Half double crochet) into each corner, and then repeat that every row working that stitch pattern into the CH2 space. The only thing is that makes working the very first corner harder, because your first stitch will not remain in the corner.

    Hi, love this border but it seems to be making my granny squared blanket stretch, does this mean I should try a smaller hook?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  Місяць тому

      it would be a larger or smaller hook. You want the gauge to be the same as the granny square. So if the blanket had a gauge of 4 sts per inch you want the border to have a gauge or 4 sts per inch.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 роки тому

Are you only crocheting 2 chains at each corner and not a SC, chain 1 or 2, and another SC in same stich? Also, when the last corner was completed, it showed a SC in last stitch and then chain 2 and then SC to first SC? I would really appreciate any clarification on the corners. You would want to start by working a single crochet border around the blanket. If the 'v' stitch is using double crochet then you would work 2 single crochets into the side of each double crochet (down the sides) and just one single crochet into either the top or bottom of the stitch for the top and bottom side of the blanket. Hi! I'd love to use this border on the afghan that I made, but one problem: it's a granny square afghan. How does this translate over for that?

      First you would make a single crochet border around the edge of the blanket then you could use any border over that.

      You are welcome. Yes it would be project specific. You work across until you reach the corner.

      If the edges are curling then the stitches are too tight. You might try working in a few extra stitches in the first row or using a size larger hook.

      @@WindingRoadCrochet once I am finished with my border how to I complete it? So that it doesn’t come unraveled

    Isn’t this a double crochet that she is calling a herringbone half double crochet? Im not trying to lie or etc I’m just confused what i’m missing because this LOOKS exactly like that double crochet I’m creating my blankets with?! Am I missing a step while I’m watching the video?’

      It is a pretty similar stitch! The only difference is in this stitch, after pulling up a loop, you immediately pull that loop through the second loop on your hook. If this were a double crochet you would yarn over again before pulling through the loops on the hook. I hope that makes sense! 😊

      It is very very similar. What is the difference is we basically skip a yarn over. This causes the stitch to lean forward.

      Did you know there is an option now to slow down the video? You can click the setting button (it looks like a gear on the computer) and you can slow down the playback speed to be able to follow along better.
