  • “Flint” celebrates the beauty of Georgia’s Flint River. It features three local people - Robin McInvale, Jimmy Miller, and Paul DeLoach- and their special connections to the river.
The Flint provides water for over one million people, 10,000 farms, unique wildlife, and 300 miles of exceptional fishing and paddling. Despite being in a historically wet area of the country, in recent years many Flint River tributaries have dried up completely and the river’s flows have dropped dramatically. American Rivers and Flint Riverkeeper are working in collaboration with diverse partners to restore the flows and health of the Flint.

The Flint of Georgia is a very special river. I've spent a great amount of time there. I love it and miss it.

I spent a lot of my childhood fishing and swimming in the Flint river in Baker County. It's a part of my life that I will always remember, sadly I also have family members and friends who have drowned in that same river. It's a beautiful river with lots of sand bars South of Newton.

It was wonderful to see this film and brought back many memories of days on the river in Gruman aluminum canoes and camping beside it at night. My father, Owen L. Riley Sr., a noted forestry consultant and naturalist, was a champion of the Flint. River He took Governor Jimmy Carter down the Flint in one of his canoes to help convince Carter to save the river from being turned into a lake. I'm sure that my father paddled and camped on the river hundreds of times. It's been 40 years since I've paddled there, and it's still in my blood.

Thank you ! This is mesmerizing; a profoundly beautiful tribute to our precious Flint. Makes me even more excited to feature the river as a character in my novel-in-progress.

Beautifully shot video. I was mesmerized. Never knew the Flint was so pretty. I totally understand loving a river. For me, it's the Chipola, here in North Florida. The very last words spoken in your video are profoundly spoken and I whole-heartedly agree.

Really great video of the Flint River, enjoyed seeing the pristine features, unfortunately I have been on the Flint River around Albany, Ga. and seen tires, garbage, bait containers, plastic, and other landfill waste all up and down the river, I was devastated and saddened to see the river in this condition.

I spend a great deal of my free time exploring the upper Flint and its tributaries. It's really unique, and something about it works with its native species allowing certain ones to exist above the fall line that do not elsewhere in Ga

That is heaven right there! Now I gotta go meet the Flint River. The guy in the video is right. Rivers are people and they need to be treated that way.

well done video. love my home state. and the many heavenly rivers that run through it. I live not to far from the beginnings of the Satillia river and the Alapaha river. They twist and turn through the low lying coastal plain and nearly connect within a few miles. Ones water empties just south of Jekyll Island into the Atlantic. While the other empties into the mystical Suwanne river on its way to the gulf of Mexico.

when I was a kid my dad would take me to the Flint to fish off the bank. I was raised in Clayton County and still cross over bridges looking over a tiny Flint. This summer I traveled South a little and kayaked on a wider Flint in Woodbury, GA. It was spectacular. I'll be going to Concord soon for another Flint adventure. You can view all my kayaking adventures on my youtube channel.

If Spalding County does not slow down on their drawing water out of the Flint, it is going to become a small stream instead of the majestic river that it is now!!!
