My Thoughts On Buying Accumulations.

- I have spent around 15k in the last 6 months on stamp collections/accumulations and I decided to share my thoughts at this point on buying mixed bags.

Yeah I haven't gotten accumulations. I prefer getting once in awhile a grab bag from a stamp collector trimming down their collection. Usually they are sent in glassines and secured so that they are received in good condition. I know you will still get one or two not in great condition that should be tossed but I have had no problem from the few Ebay grab bags as long as you get it from respectable stamp collectors.
One thing I discovered from online stamp dealers that looks attractive - discounted old US stamp yearbooks.
I agree, there are lots of good eBay bags out there for sure if you can find decent sellers. I do love the thrill of the hunt with a mystery bag :)
It really depends on what you're into. There are a lot of people out there who aren't so much collectors as accumulators. They just want piles of stamps to sift through and mostly, they'll live in bags or stock books and be worth nothing. It's when you actually have a targeted collection, where you have specific goals, that's really when you start to be a collector or a philatelist IMO. There's nothing wrong with it either way, but people need to know what they're getting into.
I have 3 kids in my own town who would take the junk stamps . They just need some stamps to mess with ! So please dont throw away ! There are many people who would still enjoy them .
