I had the same car when I was 17 back in the 80’s. I inherited it when my grandfather passed. Sure takes me back. My interior was the exact same color, but the exterior was dark green.
I had this exact car as a daily driver back in the 1980's...same color and upholstery. I drove my caddie all over the U.S. (looking for parts lol) Brings back a flood of memories...thanks!
Mama had a 1963 Coupe de Ville and, with the 1960, the prettiest of the Cadillacs - in my humble opinion.

I learnt auto mechanic on one of these exact car as a teen in Jamaica late 70s early 80s . It brings me back to teen memories
The first car I remember my father having is a mint Palamino colored '63 coupe. This was about the '71-'73 period. It was a gorgeous machine and my father had it running so smoothly that you could not tell it was running inside the car.
In good shape for the year . That would be beautiful restored .
Nice car I bought a 61 last June and it's going to be a tribute to my dad and grandpa. They loved the old big boats. I'm older then the car by two years . I wish you all the luck with that car. I'm looking forward to taking my grandbabies for a ride this summer
Congratulations on buying this nice car. Did you know? The 1963 Cadillac is special because this is the design that would set forth what Cadillac's would look like for the next few decades. And notable is that the '63 Cadillac's were favored by bikers for many years. Interestingly, everything you said that you wanted to do and correct is the same as I would do. I have an appreciation for your thinking. Though I could do without the fuzzy dice. Hahaha! I've subscribed so I can see future videos on this car.
The oil breather cap can be cleaned, usually by soaking it in kerosene. I would check under the easy to reach part of the dashboard for the trip odometer reset. The radio is probably a Wonder Bar radio that with a push of a button a motorized station finder goes to the next clearest station. Regarding the more-stations setting on the radio. If you have it set to less-stations, it eliminates all the weak stations from the Wonder Bar search, and allows only the strongest stations to come in. If there aren't any stations coming in on the less-stations setting, then you switch it to more-stations. The ash tray is probably jammed. Take out the glove box and investigate. Read the Owner's Manual and also buy yourself a genuine factory service manual. Not a Chilton's manual or Haynes manual, a genuine GM Cadillac 1963 factory service manual, or a reproduction of one.
The ignition switch key barrel is easy to change. As I recall, put the key in and turn it to the left, that's the accessories position. In that position, push the end of a paper clip into the tiny hold you see near the key slot, and the entire barrel will pull out. From what I can see on my end, it looks like that tiny hole is at roughly the two o'clock position from the key slot.
You need to buy a can of Boeshield T-9 because that will clean and lubricate all the kinds of electrical connections and switches that this car has, like the fan switch. It will get that door light switch working again too, just spray it in the sliding part of the switch. Boeshield T-9 can even get old rusted up fans going again. Always shake the can before spraying. Whenever I install a car battery, I flood the cable connections with this, and the coating it dries to will last for years. Check out their web site, search for Boeshield T-9. Remember, always shake the can before spraying. Wishing you good luck with this nice car.

Glad you gonna repaint it. A Cadillac deserves to shine and be beautiful. Btw for the seats, there are some 350$ replacements (leather) online that you can buy.

I saw a 1964 deville 4-door at the Lauderdale-Miami Manheim auction over 15 years ago. When it came thru the auction lane a naked woman couldn`t have got more attention, it was black and chrome with Prada Interior. When it came thru it slowly sat down with the air bags, the auctioneer said this car needs no introduction we are starting at 14k and going north, it went up to 20k the unknown owner said no. Long story short I dreamed of owning a car like that Caddy, last year I got one about the same condition as this car on the video. Now finding some one to restore it like the one I saw is a challenge, I have several projects including a 63 l Lincoln 4-door but the Caddy is my favorite. I paid 3k curious what this one costed
This car was certainly no bargain, totalling $8,000. However, I'm not too sore as it was appraised at $12,650. I've seen a few of these 63 cadillacs around, but a Lincoln I have not. Sounds like some cool projects.
1. Look for a little twist knob at the bottom of the dash by the steering column for the trip reset.
2. The MORE STATIONS slide increases antenna sensitivity to pull in more distant [more] stations.
3. On the ash tray, open the ashtray and push down on the snubber tab and rotate the ash tray out of the opening.

Older GM you could take key out while running . Nice way to warm up and lock doors. While your in the house .
Yes. A lot of people didn't realize that. I had a 1966 Cadillac. I could take the key out of the ignition. That was so great. I loved it!!!!

Just a little advice on the video...... see if you can turn on camera stabilization on your phone. If it cannot do that I'd look around for a different one. Great content but smoothing out the video jerkiness will help a lot. 😁 Your enthusiasm reminds me of.... well me actually. My first Cadillac was a 63 Fleetwood. Bought it during the summer of 1985. Your car is in MUCH better shape. lol
That spare tire has a metric size so it's from the 1990s. 1960's tires used a numeric system like 6.70-15 and 1970's were sized like H78-15. I don't think radials were available in 1963 on American cars.
950_15 was the oe size it would have originally had bias ply tires radial tires didn't hit until late 60s..Those hubcaps are very difficult to put on. The engine has been painted because it not the correct color

9:14 put that card back in place so that it can’t fly away. These are pretty rare i think and its very good to still have it
I noticed you have automatic air, you've got a lot of vacuumed pods 2 ambient temp sensors as well as a transducer that controls the heater and ac, and a fan relay and vacuumed for automatic airflow all this has to work right and together otherwise the auto part won't work, you will need the original chassis manual as reference to get things right, alot of those parts are probably not working anymore but there are ac places that have rep. Parts check around for ac refurbiration old automatic GM and comfertron auto air systems

Date code on the tire is the last four digits of the DOT#'s first 2 are the week and the 2nd 2 is the year. Example 5102, for it would be the fifty first week of 2002.
Will be hard to find but you might be able to, the Oldsmobiles are the same in the later 60's
I could tell you how to reset it but I will have to go to my customer at work that has a massive car collection and he has a ton of Cadillac. Little trick and if you seen it you wouldn't believe it. Hidden in plain sight.
I'm pretty sure Michelin came out with the first radial in 1968 all 63s were bias tires

Trip reset is under the dash, I think.
You go the autronic eye, which shuts the highbeams off automatically when people come the other way at night. Would be fun to show this working if it still does.
Unfortunately, it does not, but a repair video is going to come out in the future!

@@JuniorBearTelevision I was told by some old timers that the auto dimmer has a capacitor that will give you a heck of a jolt. Don't know if it's true or not but I steered clear of it.
Out of curiosity may I ask what I might have to pay for a car in that condition if I can find one say between the years of 63 and 72?
Virus wildly depends on location, seller, supply, etc. In my area, if you can find one, it'll run you around 8-10k
There workable but it's a tedious and delicate job and the stripping is the main thing

@@JuniorBearTelevision that is odd usually on the tire is a DOT number and it is always the last 4 digits. Must have been run flat or something, been on tires since the bias play era.
@@johnelliott7375 I got a set of tires from the 1950s and they have the dot number, back then they used the 3 digit Date code rather than the four common today, the spare has no signs of wear so I don't know why the dot date code is missing
