    Amazing singer, musical genius and unique individual. In his retiring way, Scott stood out in the world of music.

    Beautiful Songs! Scott Walker is the one who influenced most the earlier half of my life.

    The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore was written (the music) by Bob Crewe, who also composed the delightful score for 'Barbarella'. And of course the seemingly endless row of hits for the Four Seasons. I became a fan of Bob Crewe, felt he was undervalued. And this song, in a Phil Spector-esque ambiance, was the best record the Walker Brothers made. Much better than My Ship Is Coming In. That one was by Joey Brooks; never heard of the guy.
    I hated Scott's change of direction in 1993. I've played the four albums once, and never again. Now - AD 2024 - I hear the fragment from 'Tilt', and think, mygawd, this not just sombre and nihilistic; it's beautiful.
    So I'm giving his avantgarde albums another chance. After 30 frigging years.

    TILT is his finest album. Way ahead of it's time. I'm surprised none of this footage made 30 Century Man.

      specially the interview with him and her fan, it really showed how far he went, and he wasn't even close to what he had become now.

    Tilt fascinated and terrified me when it came out. On headphones in the dark first time round its quite an experience. Then came The Drift. Wow. The only music that as an adult I had to pause when it got too scary.

    To be frank, I have always laughed about the "will I be alive by then, probably not" even years before (!) he died. I'm glad he lived for another 25 ish years rather than the 10 years his dark humor suggested.
    Edit: The 25 ish years is wrong as I wrongly assumed this was the Tilt era. He lived another 13 years from this point on.
    At some points, I can barely tell he's joking. I really do think he grew tired of Tilt... that said, I never did...

    • @ivantopolcic
      @ivantopolcic 2 роки тому +1

      yea, he made that remark in 2006, so he lived another 13 years...

      @@ivantopolcic oh I'm sorry, he looked similar to his Rosary performance on Jools which was 1995. He didn't change that much between that point and 2006, so my bad.

    Noel Scott Walker, in my opinion, was a pessimist by nature. If you told him the sky was blue, he would look to find another area where it wasn't. It comes out even more in his later years, particularly in his music. We could attribute the pessimism to things that may or may not have happened to him as a child. If you told him to be happy, he'd mock you. He looked miserable in most, if not all the pictures he took during his Walker Brother years. Sad to say his last years reflect his true self expressed out loud to music

    how strange - he walked away from fame to record this type of music. Sorry, nice attempt to re-enter the world of music, but not appealing enough.
