Hey guys, thanks for watching! You can check out more details on the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 on our website: tflcar.com/2024/11/2026-hyundai-ioniq-9-debut-video/ -- One item of note is that these pre-production cars do have CCS charging ports, but the production models will have NACS (Tesla-style) ports when they arrive in the spring.
you gotta give it to Hyundai and Kia. They are absolutely going at it full throttle in the EV space. Much respect to them for their commitment. Love to see it.
We will see how long it lasts , EV sales are already slowing way down , and with the new administration taking over next year , EVs are going to be even less attractive to manufacturers and customers, so we will see how well these cars sell in the long run
@@VaunShiz@VaunShiz hate to break it to you but the world no longer revolves around the U.S. market. It is important but EVs in China & many European countries are selling extremely well. The new U.S. administration will essentially be holding the U.S. back, putting the country in last place, when they arguably should be first or second. As for the tax credit, auto makers would have been foolish to think it would stick around forever. Technology is always improving, bringing the prices down so it will work out but the U.S. will be lagging big time.
All this stuff is cool, but I worry about affordability. Pixel lights and sensors are a big reason why our insurance costs are skyrocketing. The smallest repair ends up being an insurance claim instead of running over to a parts store for a new headlight. No aftermarket support for all these bespoke lights and sensors, and nothing is interchangeable anymore.
I agree. I know Hyundai/Kia are trying to differentiate themselves from the traditional car maker but some of us only want l normal looking car that is affordable. That and I thought they have moved beyond ripping off the look of higher end looking car in a bid to gain more customer, but seeing the 2024+ Santa Fe, it seem some of their designer from way back then still have a lot of pull in their design. Noone want to be mocked as buying a Landrover knockoff.
Nathan, the interview at the end was really cool to learn how they think about design. There is clearly a passion to the design and functionality of the vehicle.
The exterior resembles a minivan, and the interior exudes a distinct minivan vibe. While it’s not necessarily a negative aspect, it’s undeniable that it looks like a minivan, it’s still quite appealing.
I was so pro nacs plug I decided to wait for an EV but after driving an EV9 and the incredible lease deals I decided my plug bias wasn’t worth the delay. The 800v architecture more than makes up for a plug and with Kia getting SC access in January with free adapters the issue isn’t one anymore for me.
@kia @hyundai: Since neither International Scout nor Rivian are planning to come to EU with their family size offoroad cars, maybe you want to fill the void. There is only one family size (meaning fits 5-6 people comfortably) offroad car provider in EU: Land Rover. They really need competition in that segment. Unfortunately Ioniq 9 (and EV9) does not fill that void. But at least it's something for the bigger families because the there are few attractive options for them in general in EU.
Hey no brainer, that passenger seat controller wasn't made to be controlled from the backseat; it's meant for the driver to adjust the passenger seat. Why do you keep introducing it wrong?
It makes it hard to figure out how big everything is... But on the other hand there aren't many ways to get the whole vehicle in a shot in a small room.
I was going to ask if it has a rear wiper but I see that Hyundai has infringed Land Rover’s patent on the recessed rear wiper in the spoiler………… such a brilliant place to put it until you need to replace the wiper blade. BTW no way is this an SUV it’s a minivan just like the EV9
That button&motor for closing the charging door is stupid. Make sense for a rear hatch, on a tiny little door, not so much. They should repurpose that button to turn on some light in the port to illuminate the connector. It is alway a pain to try and plug in the charger and stabbing at hard plastic.
Those wheel arches are…. Strange. I don’t hate the design (I reserve that for modern BMWs) but this is going to need getting used to? Or is it just me 😓
They push the wheels to the edge in the front - as on the Ioniq 5, note how small the front overhang is - then the push the interior space forward. Once you put the front drive motor in, there is very little room under that plastic, they are essentially using all of it. Right below the load floor of that frunk is the controller for the motor. The net result is an insane amount of legroom and interior space for the exterior dimensions, it's really quite impressive how well packaged the vehicles are, but you do give up frunk space.
The station wagon that people want, not in the US, but the rest of the world but car makers well very few of them listen. Really hope design team is controlled by one country because they think they are the only market that matters.
This is not a station wagon. This is an SUV. At least in Europe, there are already station wagons/combi EVs on the market: BMW i5 Touring, Audi A6 e-tron Avant, VW ID.7 Tourer, Peugeot 308 SW or MG5 Electric.
Piano Black is awful to maintain. I have bought 8 new Hyundai vehicles, but will not consider this one. I hope people like it, but I think it is ugly! The green is a cool color though. I am not as pro Hyundai as I used to be, after owning 8 of them. The last couple I had were built poorly and cheaply. Never again.,
The rear is ugly. Wrapped in LED all the way around - trying too hard. No wonder insurance costs are skyrocketing. There are no simple fender-benders with modern cars.
Kia and Hyundai doing too much with all these weird looking ass cars... Everything you drew on a piece of paper as a child is coming to life at Kia and Hyundai 😅😅
I think the Ioniq 9 is ugly. The Kia EV9 is way better looking inside and out. Especially outside. But i also hated the Ioniq 5 originally and now I love it so maybe it needs to grow on me. But I wish it well and I’m glad the industry is still moving forward

Yeah full throttle at making JUNK that is

i love your interview with the designer... no other YT has it this in-depth, great job!!!
For what it is, I think it looks pretty good.
Great job Nathan. Good review and wonderful interview. TY.
Nathan and Zach you guys do such a great job! Fantastic video!
Great looking EV. Finally we se mature, dedicated EV designs from the mainstream manufacturers. Chinese and Koreans though..
Excellent review mate. They have a great design here, probably my favorite new 3row EV

Charge flap is a biggun 😂
Will look so funny with a lil NACS port in there 😅

@ Sounds reasonable, good luck with the EV 🙌
Another big SUV, sure, great. Nathan . . . where is the Ionic 3, the lil' SUV!?

Didn’t they do that with the Borrego? But it didn’t sell well in the numbers they wanted to be profitable outside of SK and it was pulled…

I do love the boat aesthetics on the rear
Those corner pieces are called quarter lights
I loved Nathan's review!
I can’t stand the fish eye, especially for new vehicle debuts.

Great interview Nathan.
Good looking car, I hope the price is for the PEOPLE this time. Not only the rich
It looks really cool to me!
Other than the 'eyebrows', it's a good-looking SUV.
Now make a 2dr CAR (EV fine)
Hopefully this gets a rear wiper for this Ev.
The rear wiper is hidden away beneath the spoiler that has the pixels on it.
It’s hidden away under the rear window spoiler Range Rover style
This should have been a minivan.
Like a complement!
Why do these Hyundais look like a kid designed them in Minecraft?
Where is the tow hitch?
I was going to ask if it has a rear wiper but I see that Hyundai has infringed Land Rover’s patent on the recessed rear wiper in the spoiler………… such a brilliant place to put it until you need to replace the wiper blade.

There are 2 LED set into the charge port when the door opens. You can see them on the left at 6:20 onwards.
no pricing yet but I already guess it is not going to be in my price range.
definitely a Mini-Van
Now bring it to India.
Massive battery equals massive fire..lol😂
So more flammable than….gas?
You need go back to Colorado!!
It looks to have very nice build quality, but the design is pretty weird...
Camping & Travel rocket with flat big floor
and Soccer mum car everyday
Hello! Sexy Hyundai Bravo 👏🏾

How do these vehicle manufacturers missing big frunks when some have massive ones? I feel like having a small frunk is a big miss.

@ I feel like the model X, Y, lucid gravity, R1s and some others do it without being cramped inside the cabin.
@@michaelcerick9999their space management and packaging is more efficient, which is something Kia/Hyundai currently lacks.
Storage in the back is tiny.
The rear end that does not match the rest of the car at all.I know Hyundai they always over design there cars.
