My parents didn't let me eat smarties because of their "adverse effects on children" and if that means I never encountered this game either then god am I thankful for that
The blue smarties is what got kids hyper, then the blue one got banned untill the company started using natural colours like seaweed, black carrot etc.
@@skootergirl22 that's incorrect, the blue smarties were changed to white because they couldn't find a natural blue colouring for the transition to natural colours in time, there were no adverse effects
One thing that I think's worth mentioning is why the blue smartie was the mascot chosen and not any other colour. It's an urban legend that blue smarties were banned because they'd make kids go hyper but in reality they just changed to having no artificial colors and couldn't find a replacement for blue at the time. This game tied in with the advertising campaign about them bringing the color back.
People play games because when they play good quality games they can then see them in a different light after playing a really trash game, same can be said about movies really, and quite a few things actually.
I don't know why, but this game kind of reminds me of C.I.D. The Dummy. I even find myself blurting out "Not such a dummy now, am I?" Whenever the smarty attacks.
Finally someone made a video on this strange game, I used to own a copy of this game (I live in the UK) that one of my family members picked up in one of those 3 for 2 sales when I was real young. I actually have good memories of it :P
Actually, I just thought about something. Maybe the games aren't trying to get you hungry for their product, but to associate with their brand more? Think about it. You play this game called Sneak King, and you end up liking it. You see a Burger King as you're being driven down the street by your parents, and you want to eat there by association. It's not out of hunger, just your appreciation for the brand makes you think "I should eat there sometime". Does it work under this idea? Iunno, probably not considering they don't make so many of these kinds of games these days.
My family used to own a caravan that we'd take on holidays, and we'd always play the PS2 that we kept in it when we weren't doing anything else. We don't have the caravan or the PS2 anymore... but this video brought back memories. Our favourite game was "Bomberman Hardball." Essentially it's a sports game collection with a bomberman mode as well, but we'd get so competitive over it. Especially the golf, for whatever reason. We also played a lot of Crash Twinsanity, and since I was just a kid it was the funniest game I'd ever played. It's also a pretty solid platformer, so I can see why we liked it. I'm pretty sure we had this game too, but apart from the cover art I didn't remember anything from this video, so that's probably a good thing.
I'm from The Netherlands, I played this when I was a kid and could never beat it. I always have those moments where suddenly I think of this game again.
I guess that this was a prequel to Scott The Woz's both Shovelware Variety Hour Series and It's A Bargain Bin Christmas Special. Which he made the Bargain Bin Special and the Shovelware Variety Hour series before Mark's.

I live in America, but I still think Smarties are one of the best candies. The only candy that I like that tops it is Skittles, those things are just perfect.
I don’t really like smarties but absolutely LOVE M&ms. It’s because most candy I like is chocolate. I like the chocolate texture and the taste was good and sweet, but not so sweet that I die.
I thought we only got these Smarties in Canada! The US "Smarties" are called the same name as our "Rockets". I'm glad to see other countries have the same Smarties as we do, which are way sweeter and better than M&Ms.
So your telling me a bunch of game developers made a game about UK only ripoff M&Ms and not the chalk and not the Chalky US Smarties? What is this blasphemy!
Holy crap I played this on my dads PS2 as a kid, I'm getting mad, uh, well idk if nostalgia is the word but I sure as hell remember it (Also what Americans don't have smarties wtf?)
Hol' up, smarties are chocolate? I always thought they'd be like, tart candy akin to Spree or Sweetart. That's why when I was in UK and saw Mcdonalds had a smarties mcflurry I was like "yuck, wtf?" but it all makes sense now lmao
i was super confused when they looked like m&ms without the M so i searched it and apparently it's a chocolate brand made only in canada with the same name
I genuinely thought that I had dreamt up this game considering the fact that it was so bizarre. I mean I genuinely didn't mind this but I got stuck on a level and gave up. It was so fever dreamish that I felt as if I was stupid for remembering it. Thank God I wasn't the only one who remembers this.
As an American, I think American smarties are pretty good. Those cheap m&m knockoffs are nothing compared to American ones. At least ours are original.
Idk man I want to say I wouldn’t have bought these types of games given the opportunity but I also had those Mcdonalds Cartoons on REPEAT when I was a kid so who knows 🤷🏻♀️
As a person who grew up playing this game and has completed it i must say that it's not actually that bad and it really doesn't deserve this. It's still my favourite game.
My parents didn't let me eat smarties because of their "adverse effects on children" and if that means I never encountered this game either then god am I thankful for that
