- Come check out what our large family of 9 eats during a typical week! We enjoy eating fruits and vegetables that we grow in our gardens and meats that we raise on our homestead. We also love meals made from whole foods that are made from scratch. Due to some health considerations and dietary restrictions, we also eat quite a few Trim Healthy Mama recipes as well! May I suggest that you start a sourdough starter. Sourdough doesn't raise blood sugar in the body. You can make a lot of products from the sourdough starter. P.s. the children could have a fun time naming the starter.😊😊

My Mumma always let us pick our birthday dinner and cake. I always chose my great aunt Alice’s salmon, pea and au gratin casserole and chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.
On Fridays we had what Mum called must goes. Everything she had cooked all week MUST GO!

Nice video. Sarah reminds me so much of my older sister. She helped my dad raise me and my younger sister after our mom passed. She seems so well-adjusted and organized for a young lady of 16. :) My sister was too, maybe too organized, lol
Oh Melissa, I'm sorry that you lost your mom, especially at such a young age! Yes, Sarah is very mature for her age. Each of the children are definitely their own unique individuals! :)

I love watching these videos . Wonderful to see you cooking such healthy from scratch recipes. If you ever want to know how to make your own sour cream it's so easy and you will never run out! Our family we hosted from Ukraine taught me how to make it and I always have jars of it in the fridge. You use the last jar to feed the next batch. I can post a quick and easy recipe if you would like. We love your family !

Janice I am diabetic, so I replace white potato with sweet potato. I still do have white potato occasionally, but there is a trick to it. Leave the potato on your plate until last, as the carbohydrates will break down into sugar slower when the potato is not hot. Also, combine heaps of protein on your plate, as the protein helps to slow the carbohydrates from breaking down.
Golden sweet potatoes are even better for blood sugar!

I was one of the viewers who asked for the Pasta House Salad. 🥗 Thank you thank you thank you!! All the meals looked delicious but my top ones would Shawn's Mexican Birthday Dinner (and cake) and the Sausage Gravy and Biscuits (I'm Canadian🍁- some people call them biscuits and some call them scones, though scones are traditionally triangular shaped) . ❤🤗

Great idea. Or make enchiladas for the next evening’s meal or a freezer meal.
Yes when i make tacos i always double what i know my family will eat . This way i freeze half and have it all ready for another mexican recipe we enjoy the following week. I did this when I prepared many dishes I'll freeze half . It sure makes it easier on a stressful busy evening

Dear Janice, with all the leftovers you had shown, you can freeze it and add it later to a meal that you make again. I have always done that when I had a family to feed. Now, I’m 69, alone and scratch my head trying to think of something to cook for 1 person. Believe me, it was so much easier when I had my kid’s 💕🙏🙏

Whether it is because of different beliefs, ideals or other practices, it is a hard topic to broach. Your main viewers know your family follow the scriptures and I am sure if anyone was offended they would be in the minority. I have never felt you have been disrespectful to anyone else's beliefs nor felt you have pushed your beliefs onto your viewers. Shawn's prayer was a very kind, humble and respectful (dare I say generic) Christian offering. Please don't take to heart the critics out there. I LOOOOOVE the Family Meals!!! Please do them EVERY week, loke other UA-camrs. It's absolutely no problem if the food you eat is repetitive. You really don't need to come up with new things.

Lovely family. In the Uk we have scones with whipped cream and jam. I’m not sure if you call jam jello. But our jelly is normally served with ice cream. Happiest of Monday love from Edinburgh Scotland 🏴
We put jam or jelly on biscuits. 🙂 jam is from the whole fruit and jelly is made with just the juice.
Here in Devon, England we don’t eat whipped cream, we eat clotted cream. Scones with clotted cream and jam are delicious 🏴
