Great idea, but is that hose safe to use for drinking water? IE food grade? Don’t want you getting ill guys...?

Good point. Prior to using the mention hose was soaked in very hot water. Also it was brand new. So far not been ill. but very valid point David. Thanks Phil. PS there are other options. This was a quick fix while away before I skimmed over a hedge in temper.

I used a length of rigid white food grade pipe, measured from filter to neck of aquaroll, filter now sits on bottom of roll.

Hi Mark. I am glad you managed to solve the issue. You don't need to send a picture, I am just glad you have a working system now. I have to be honest I don't use the truma one anymore. If I do use one which is very rare I have Whales version which is far better built and works effortlessly. Here is a link to a video I did on it. ua-cam.com/video/nG0BCjmlcgU/v-deo.html worth a watch. Thanks Phil👍🙂

Great help. I actually took the filter off the pipe at bottom & slipped an aluminium ring just slightly bigger than the pipe over the pipe itself then reattached filter to end. This just weighed down the pipe so it goes down to the bottom of my aqua roll. 👍

In my caravan the pump switch lights up red but no water is flowing but the part which is submerged has some rust staining on the body ,is the actual pump inside the caravan or is it the submerged part ?.Could it be seized?.

    Hi Phil !
Our new caravan came with quite a shallow Fiama (?) water carrier which seemed to exacerbate the floating Truma water pump problem.
Desperate for a cup of tea (if nothing else) I soon shot down to the nearest accessory dealer in Stoke from the club site and bought a more traditional wheeled water carrier.
It suited the Truma pump slightly better but it still had a tendency to float about.
I'm not long back from B&Q with some rigid white piping for a better fix ...

HI Martin. Since making this video I have purchased the Whale Pumps version for truma it is a much better device and I have never had any issues. I only use it when flushing out the system. I tend to book fully serviced pitches now a days, less hassle😉 I used the Whale water master system. (i have done a video on it. Thanks Phil👍🙂

Hi Phil, very new to caravanning and I had the same problem, alarming all the time.
When got our van it was stored in the sink so we carried storing it there between trips.
Stored in the sink it's stored in a circle so in the water hog it just curled up, hence no water and alarming constantly.
I now travel with it hanging straight down in the shower head, never happened since 😊

  • @mervynhardy6161
    @mervynhardy6161 5 років тому +4

My answer is to use a clean length of dressed wood the length of the pump hose. Fit a suitably sized Terry clip to each end of the stick and fit the pump to the Terry clips, stand upright in the shower cubicle. This keeps the pump hose straight and free from kinks when not in use. Since doing this we've had no trouble with kinky pump hose.

Totally agree with you Phil the Truma water inlet pipe is absolutely rubbish, we had so much trouble with it on our recent holiday you wouldn't believe, I came up with my solution only the other day whilst playing with the cats, it's a toy which basically a plastic rod about the diamiter of a pencil with a feather on the end, so my plan is to cable tie or elastic band it to the pipe minus the feather, but as the caravan is still in Dorset in the on site compound I'll have to wait until our next holiday coming soon so I'll film my solution. If it doesn't work it give your idea a go as we have plenty of waste water pipe.

Just done the same with 500mm of 22mm speed fit, plastic pipe, so there's a bend at the top, but it's straight into the bottom of the aqua roll. Not tried it yet, but can't see why it wouldn't work.
Also, I'm surprised that the hose they supply is a soft plastic/rubber type material.
When you're creating a vacuum to allow suction lift, you need a hard walled suction pipe to prevent the walls collapsing in under suction.
I'm unsure as to whether the pressures here are adequate to cause that problem, but why chance it.
    Cheers.

Hi Geoffrey. I don't use the aquaroll anymore, I have a Whale water master system. Plugs into the Caravan direct from the tap. Saves weight and space. Been using it for nearly 4 years never had an issue. Here is a link to my video on it. It's not cheap but worth the money. ua-cam.com/video/2fpkBZH9prc/v-deo.html thanks Phil.👍🙂

you didn't say this was for the internal pump and tank as the truma external pump is much heavier and goes to the bottom of the aquaroll.

You maybe correct how ever everyone else under stood what I mean't. I have since replaced this item for a whale version as it is much better. Thanks Phil:)

@@lostweekendscaravan does the whale replacement have a filter at the end rather than the pump? I am looking to replace my Truma pump hose. I have looked on Amazon, could you possibly give me the item name please? Cheers.

sorry meant to say also, does the Whale replacement have the Truma connection to the van? It seems odd that Whale would make something that fits Truma bayonet fitting but if it solves the problem, happy days!
