- Where is the perfect place to put a photo hide for bird photography? I often get questions if I just put up my photo blinds in random places and hope for the best. That I don´t do. It is a lot of research in every step of where you put up camouflage. In this video I photograph waterfowls in a lake from my hokki hide from tragopan. Hopefully this video can give you some tips and tricks to what you should do before you put up a blind.
Ducks are really hard to photograph, so a good hide is essentials.

waterfowl is defiantly the most difficult to photograph i can get behind that. But man is it addicting. Wonderful Shots Trond.
Yes it is.....but so much fun, and addicting as you said :) Thanks Kevin!
And I thought Golf was addictive😆
Great Video again Trond, can’t wait for the next 👍

Amazing footage and stills as always Trond. The teal make a great subject with their beautiful colouring. Cheers Keith
I don't understand how you can lie in those positions without hurting your back. But, the quality of your photographs is payback for your efforts. :)

Thank you! Glad you enjoye it....and so great to have your support here :)
Great video Trond, your work is amazing!
Thank you Lee! Much appreciated
Very nice!
I wish you would try some shots showing the birds in their environment instead of all the “portraits” with the blurred foreground and background. I personally find the environmental shots harder to compose but far more interesting and sometimes even unique when you pull them off successfully.
Fedt 👍
Tusen takk!
Another amazing video from you. Sunrise (I think). Beautiful duck colors.
Thank you so much! It was sunset ;) Yes they are really colorful birds. Love them
@@trondwestby5264 thanks for clearing me up with the time of day.
Hey Trond, loved your video. Amazing sharpness from the 500fl ed with the 2x TC….I guess the mirrorless Z9 pays of here. No need to fiddle around with fine tuning. Keep it up!
Hey Ed! Thank you so much. Yes the Z9 really impresses with this combo. 😊
Hey Trond, I love your videos. I often walk around and say to my girlfriend "I wonder what Trond would do to photo
graph these birds?" . Can you tell me what type of blind you are using in this video please. Keep up the good work.
Great video, Trond! Beautiful birds! Are you metering off the birds or using evaluative metering with exposure compensation?
Thank you so much! I am shooting manual with mirrorless. Easier to see the exposure. But before I used evaluative metering with exposure compensation, A priority.
Nice pictures. Camouflage is really essential. I was wondering if the front of the lens can't scare away the animals because I think they can see themselves in the reflection. Congratulations!
Thank you so much! Yes it is....It did not react to that here....but I know that could cause some problems sometimes.
hi Trond, first of all thank you for these beautiful and inspiring videos. I wanted to ask you something. How do you last so long lying in that position? When I try after half an hour I have pains in the neck and arms. Is it just habit or is there some trick you use? Thank you
Hi Trond. Amazing footage as allways. Would you advise me an extender on my 150-600 tamron lens? I would love to get birds closer, but thought an extender is giving you good change of losing image sharpeness. Now i see you shooting with '1000 mm' it makes me thinking. Cheers!
Thank you so much for your kind compliment! Hmmm....I think a extender with this zoom is not the best idea. You loose too much sharpness, and the autofocus get really slow. And you loose f-stop. The converters works best with primes :(
@@trondwestby5264 thanks!
That Teal is such a beautiful bird!
I wanted to ask if anyone here has recommendations for photography blinds in the United States?
Yes it is :) This is for people in the US: photographyblinds.com/
@@trondwestby5264 thank you 😊
To photographing Teal is so difficult! I find teal on my daily walk and its wasnt afraid at all so i get home and graped my camera and went down to photograph the teal! But when i did came closer so it did not like me then and fly away! And that happend several times! When walking whitout the camera no broblem to get close but when i have the camera whit me so i dont even get close so they fly away!
Yes they are not an easy bird to photograph. So therefor its really rewarding when you do get close, and got the image :)
