Also there are sooo many candy shops everywhere you go in the centre.
:') so funny you pointed out the amount of American candy stores, everyone thinks they're a money laundering front because they're always empty lol
It just made me laugh when he mentioned them
they have to be! never seen a soul in them
They are money laundering stores, most of them open in May and close in march
Because they are loool
@@elliehhhh The one in Darlington was full to the brim last week. Might have been money launderer summit though.
I just had my first hot pot experience and I wanted to drop a thank you to Mike for showing me what to do in all his hotpot videos ♥
it’s so crazy to see mike in the chinatown i grew up going to, i’m glad he gave london another chance after the disaster that was his first trip here a few years ago
I also love Pot Pot Malatang!
THRILLED to see you in London's Chinatown. I lived in central London for 17 years and it was one of my favourite places. Delighted to see I can still recognise street corners, shop fronts...🥰🥰🥰🥰
I am wondering when you were there...
😂 can’t stop laughing when you asked is this “normal” to be sunny and raining 🌦at the same time, WELCOME TO LONDON my friend
It never stops raining 😭
For the ones who reads this just know this is only the beginning keep pushing, grinding, and fighting. Whatever it is in life you want to do to go after it life is to short. Life is a marathon not a sprint so go out there and live it up I hope all is well and goes well for you peace and one love! ✌🏽 🙏🏽
Bro I can't watch this man's videos with an empty stomach. I'm on a diet too 😭 everything looks so good
You suffering too?! I almost ate my phone! 😄
I've been enjoying your videos for a lot three or four years before covid and I just want to say thank you for sharing your Chinese and specialties because I always love Chinese food and different types of food and it's nice to see you so and enjoying them as much as I would
In the 80's I used to work on the edge of Chinatown, they have improved it so much!
One day you’re in Korea and the next day in London I’m losing track now 😂 the Chinatown looks beautiful there love the lantern and decor!
it's because he records material months in advance so everything is out of order...
@@Medsas lol she think this guy got some magical door or something can teleport through space and stuff
I know right! Used to be able to "follow" his travels depending on the channel you were watching. His video's have been bouncing from UAE, Chicago, Korea, back to UAE to St Louis back to Korea, then Paris now London hahaha.. getting wipe lash.
@Abe Froman yeah, I seen the misspelling but figured someone will get some self satisfaction to correct me so left it
I think his last korean video he was actually in france during the beginning of it
So he recorded the korean ones a while ago then was in france at he finished uploading and editing that one then from france he went to england
I used to run food tours around Soho and Chinatown. I absolutely love the Bunhouse. It's like eating a meaty cloud. 😋
I crave hotpot after watching your videos, but I've actually never had it. I can't use chopsticks well enough. Yum. Hope you enjoyed London!
Omg its the best thing ever
Just use some tongs! No sense of denying yourself the hot pot of your dreams over a tiny technicality!
Thanks for the encouragement! Didn't know they offered tongs. Ready to find a spot near me.
@@jayryan7958 keep some chopsticks for beginners from Amazon on your person should you ever randomly find a hot pot.
London is great for food just because it's so diverse in its offerings. If you know which parts of town are best for respective cuisine you can find some gems.
Yesss, I’m visiting London in 5 months, so excited to try everything you had in this video 🤩 Thank you Mikey!
I like that the Chinese words on the buns are always right side up and readable for the viewers! Appreciate this little touch
Now I got two "whys' I must visit UK:
1) Historical places
2) Awesome food places
I recommend going to Portsmouth historical dockyard as it’s one of naval bases from the Dday invasion also another museum called the Dday museum which has a Sherman and one of the landing craft which you can go on
@@spankmemyers4779 For sure! Tanks (pun intended) for the hint 😃
@@Astrih_Konnash an eggscellent pun 😂
@@spankmemyers4779 You're most well-come 😉
When my friend used to live in wimbledon with a friend from Hong Kong, we went to the area where all the supermarkets are, on the ring road and went to an amazing restaurant. You know it's good when pretty much all of the clientel are of chinese origin. Food was superb
As a petite half Chinese Asian woman myself... I'm in awe of Christine's ability to keep up with Mike's eating stamina because 4 of the buns itself would have kept me full for half a day 😂😂 i have no idea where Mike stores his food. Its like a bottomless stomach pit
Hey , just wanted to say that you and your channel done a big help with me , with us , through rough times
I , and preferably “we” , really appreciate for your content
😂 Sent the dry hot pot back to the kitchen asking for it as hot as possible and got what he asked for. Mike Chen always chasing the heat and crying tears of spicy joy. lol
I think he got too many of his spicy wishes this time!! 😅
Glad to see another London video! Hoping there will be some more London food tours coming soon!
Really glad you enjoyed your visit to London more this time around! I have been to China Town loads of times, but I have not been to any of the restaurants you have visited. They are definitely next on my hit list when I am there again!
I really want to go back London again to try these restaurants! Also, it was smart of the restaurant to print what kind of meat is inside the bun on it.
Your assessment of London weather is spot on
Oh my god, you went to my favourite dumpling house!! I work at the back of this place and my colleagues and I go here at least once a month. Would 10/10 recommend to anyone passing by!
I have very fond food memories of London Chinatown… One in particular is fried seaweed. Like a fine haystack of fried crispy seaweed. I’ve never seen it anywhere else!
It's made of lettuce/cabbage. Not sure why they call it seaweed. And they have that in every 'English' Chinese resturant in the UK. It's a British fave. Nothing you'll find in China though! But it's tasty 😊
@@Hollyferris its spring cabbage usually
Last time I was in London’s China town I couldn’t decide where to eat because everything looks amazing! I never thought I’d just eating everywhere 🤣🤣. Hope you are enjoying the UK! Hope you head north! Sheffield has some amazing independent restaurants and a growing Chinese community!
Glad you discovered the British weather! and the food looks so good! thank you for showing London off so well!
I’m Sooooo ready for all these new travel videos! I’ve missed them so!
I've been waiting for a London video for so long! Thank you so much Mikey! :)
Mike is living the dream, he travels the world and get to eat good food everyday!
And he has a beautiful wife to travel with and eat with, … man im lonely :(
Lol at what cost? He has aged quite a bit lately and is not looking too good. He should take time off and take care of his health but some of these "fans" just want him to keep stuffing food nonstop. They don't care about his health.
@@js83 he works everyday bruh…chill out
@@MrChocoThunda go out and meet people then 😂😂😂 stop moping, change your lifestyle and someone will gravitate
Mike, Love your videos !
Glad to see you here! I live near London and have always walked through Chinatown with awe wondering where to try so thanks for these recommendations! You should try New Malden in South London for some Korean food while you are here too.
I am Richmond ...Nr the park
The comb over is strong...😳😳😳
The energy in every Chinatown you go to it’s very awesome
Yaaay! So glad to see you back in London. You didn't get a good experience the last time! Two of my favourite places in china town ( that are inexpensive and delicious) are Chinese Tapas House, they do great Chinese crepes and around the corner is Lanzoh Noodle Bar. Freshly made hand pulled noodles right in front of you!
Lanzhou my favourite as well, went there today! If you haven’t had the Dan Dan Lamian soup - definitely try it!
I always feel that London’s Chinatown was really good it’s my fav place to go and be a foodie I’m glad you liked it and also visited the little stall first caus that’s one of my favs his cold noodles on a hot day are perfect !
As someone who live in Europe. It's great to see a video about places I might have a chance to go to one day :)
I hope you realize that food isn’t cheap like it used to be and prices for everything everywhere is going to be up, just be happy there are great places to eat! Chinese food, or food in general won’t be cheap like it used to be for a while.
I wanted to show you around the good spots in London! If only I knew you was coming 😭😭
Were, not was. I’m sorry that you missed out on primary school.
@@jonathanfinan722 Oh no, the Grammar General.
There are SO many better places to eat in London... it's like if I went to China and ate American food the whole time... makes little sense.
I am glad that Mike Chen gets to try more and better food in London.
He didn't even try top quality traditional English food. 😏
@@haitolawrence5986 I hope he does try some at some point. What are some good examples of English dishes?
@@MisterDew32 we don’t have any 😂😂😂
@@FOFA1630 That's what I was about to say... England is not very known for its gastronomy :)
@@FOFA1630 Da fuq you don't! Fish and chips, a good "full fry-up" breakfast, Melton Mowbray pork pies, a steak and ale pie, a Scotch Egg... Don't underestimate your cuisine! I've been to the UK four times, and, I plan on returning in a year or two for more! (And, I'm gonna have another cheese plate with Branston Picke on the side! Something hard to get here, but, I keep a couple jars in the pantry).
Kristine is so cute: Mike-Do you like it? Kristine-TASTE LIKE A SALAD :D LOL! I like seeing Kristine in your videos! :) It's nice getting someone else input on how the food taste other than just you Mikey :)
He does not show her he only shows himself all the time.
@@cafelate9515 maybe she doesn’t want to be shown?..
I watch your videos because I can't eat most of this (severe allergies) so I enjoy watching you enjoy it. Having a seafood allergy highly limits my food options
"It tastes like a salad."
I'm dead. Hahaha
We miss you Christine. 🥰🥰🥰
It’s so cool how the baos have a character on top to tell you which is which.
I really like when we get Christine's opinion.
Short, sweet and hilarious.
We all can't eat straight fire like Mr. Chen there. It's nice to get someone else's take.
@@lizvickers7156 How do you know this?
Petition for Mikey to try a battered Mars bar next time he's in the UK? 😂😂
Christine is so sweet she's not shown alot but she's beautiful. Congratulations to you and your beautiful wife.
I didn't realize he got married!
Hope Christine is as enthusiastic as you are about food Mike and hope she enjoys the travel and food as much as well
1st Time Saw Chinatown London and its Delicacies !!
Thanks Mike for this Vlog !!
Hi Mike! Welcome to London! Chinatown is my favorite place in all of London. We’d love to see you around. We do enjoy your vlogs.
Yes! Always look forward to when Mike comes to London, my home town. I can actually try some of his recommendations 😅
Nothing says London more than China!!!
Omg you’re in London! I love the China town there! Look forward to seeing the rest of your videos in the uk!
We are heading to London in two weeks and you have given us fantastic ideas where to eat. Thanks!
Oh yay you're trying London again!!!! I LOVE Chinatown in London. I hope you have a better experience this time!
Shout out and big up to Mikey. Nice to see Mikey in London again. Best carry a travel rain -mac with you though, as you can almost get all four seasons in one day in the London, UK
Going to London for the first time tomorrow, and since I’ll be alone and this is a crazy last minute decision to go, I knew I had to look up some Mikey Chen videos for ideas for where to eat! Everything looks so good!
Hi Mike, so happy to see you in the UK! 🇬🇧
Great video Mike!!!! I love the variety of your content recently. Super cool! Also… you can never go wrong with 麻辣香锅
I'd say as a Londoner that we've defiantly got some of the best multi cultured food in the world
Those red stamped characters on the steam buns are cute: pig (pork), sheep (lamb), and egg 😂😂
That hot pot at 11:30 was enormous! Hope you had 4 other people to share it with! Looked delicious!
Mikey, just so you know, and maybe you were wondering this - those American candy stores are likely used for money laundering. That's why they're almost always empty. I love trying American candy but I've never ever seen anyone aside from the employees inside.
Also they never have the prices on the products.
We get them here in Manchester on the highstreets as well. It's been all over the news about the police cracking down on these stores and uncovering that they're laundering loads of money. Its mental, please avoid buying from there and thanks for putting this up so Mikey can see!
remember that most brits dont like a lot of spiciness so you have to ask for it XD glad you liked it though :) (im in the UK)
I think it’s a generational thing because everyone I know loves spicy food - my parents generation not so much
Your videos always make me so hungry!! It makes me want to visit an asian country to try their food!! I have a friend who has been living in Korea, and she is always posting pics of the Market there. I will have her take me there some time! Thanks for another amazing video!!!
Thanks so much for coming to London!! I'd love to take you to the caribbean restaurants we have here, we have a large diaspora in the city. There's also a growing Columbian population so lucky to have great columbian food too
Colombian*
Oh how handy, I’m going this weekend. I go to bun house often and if Mike makes a queue I’m going to be frustrated haha
Mamasons ice cream next to the mochi cheese place is 👌
12:22 this is the ultimate samurai helmet of spicyness perfect dish when it’s storming out.
Can't begin to say how excited I am that you are here in the UK! 🇬🇧
Yes the weather changes all the time you can walk 10 minutes and it be raining on one side and then sunny on the other side
Loved seeing this video in London and that you rated the food! I love Bunhouse, the seasonal specials they do are always so amazing as well! Hope you've got some more London videos coming up!
As UK citizen, the American Candy stores have only popped up since the pandemic. People have heard these are not legitimate business but money laundering lol. Check out the articles on the net and youtube!
Rain, sun, then rain then sun..yes that is normal in London !
if you go at night all the lanterns light up looks stunning
OUR BB GOT HER NAILS DONE OKAY 😭
There's a good Byline Times doc about those American candy stores on UA-cam.
Single-handedly keeping China town alive
love the music in mike's videos lately -- matches the mood 🤝
Ahh London Chinatown! I can finally be able to try out his recommendations!
That dry Hot Pot looked good!
I get weird looks when I say it, but London has some really outstanding Asian cuisine. I'm so glad you took time to check some of it out!
Why would you get weird looks? Surely it must be from Americans who still live off a stereotype about British food from ww2.
Britain has more michelin star restaurants per capita than a lot of countries. Including America.
@@sneer0101 what? 🤣 They said nothing about America.
@@sneer0101
American here. It's fairly well known that the UK has some world-class cuisine given the British Empire's cultural exchanges through colonialism.
‘Is this weather normal?’ Yeah it’s called Britain 😅
Watch the next video he puts up are 7-Eleven type stores food review of London
"Is this rain normal?" yes
Umbrella is a question, and the answer is always yes
My favourite guy in my city! 💖 I’m so so happy you enjoyed your time in london.
We do seem to have a new obsession with “American Candy” stores. They seem to be everywhere, over priced and blasting out music 🤣
Finally, some delicious looking accessible food...
In the UK, always carry a fold up umbrella as the weather is incredibly changeable. For instance, it rained this morning, now blue skies and sun - layers and an umbrella - key to navigating the UK successfully! China town in London is excellent, although a little pricey now. Echo someone’s suggestion above about Brick Lane though - amazing Indian food.
*London is such an amazing city. Love it* 😍
Love the video Mikey but you should definitely see if all your cameras have a PAL (50hz) mode to avoid the light flicker you're getting in some shots
Welcome to the UK, the weather is bonkers. This is why we always talk about the weather, it is always doing something weird. Also the weather in the same city can be different five minutes up the road.
Welcome to London Mike! Must try the honey butter toast and the miso bacon pastry at Arôme Bakery in Covent Garden if you're still around!!
Great to see how you enjoyed this small but amazing corner of London Mike!
Go to the Golden Dragon in Gerrard street. One of the biggest and most popular restaurants amongst the Chinese community. I go there all the time
The weather is completly normal for England. If you don't like it, come back in half an hour! LOL
I was in Bun House yesterday in the same seat! 😁 Wish I’d sen this video before I visited China Town as I think I’ve missed out on so many more places
I use surfshark since watching you so thanks and ur videos are so relaxing mike
Love that you are in London! You should check out Supa -ya Ramen! They have a Reuben pastrami ramen!
So happy to see you in London , I am a big fan.
I haven't even gotten through the intro video and I'm drooling.
