Thanks Brian! We’re certainly developing a new appreciation for upholstery work. The covers are going to be a little crude. It’s certainly a skill that would take quite a bit of practice to do well.

That spring stretcher is ingenious. Do you keep it next to your board stretcher? My old foreman was always telling me to look for that when someone made a short cut, but I could never seem to find it.
Thanks, Robert! The actual plans themselves, in my opinion, do not have a lot of detail. There is a builders manual that does contain a lot more detail, yet does leave quite a bit up to the builder. But the support from other builders on the Bearhawk forum and the support from Bearhawk Aircraft owner Mark Goldberg, is excellent. So far I’ve found I never really need to figure anything out on my own. Anytime I’ve wanted more detail on a specific matter or had questions, someone has graciously helped.
Do you have a library of books you collected prior to this build? I am still several years from having time to commit to a build but just curious what reference materials you are using. Awesome work so far definitely enjoying your videos.

I also read Powering Your Plane by David Prizio and will probably reread a lot of it before I start on my firewall forward. I also found the relevant Hints for Homebuilders videos available to EAA members to be well worth the time. Familiarizing yourself with the different construction practices, product options, aviation jargon, etc. will definitely save you time once you start building! Cheers
Thanks! I used soft for the bolsters, but I don’t recall making that choice for any reason other than that’s the same firmness as the top layer. I initially planned to have bolsters on the back rest as well, but a 05-2010 Kitplanes article made me reconsider.

I’ve been strongly considering Oratex. It seems like it’s really easy to repair as well.

I haven't purchased an engine yet. But the designer recommends a Lycoming between 240 and 315 hp.
