- In this video we show how we upholstered the seats for our Bearhawk Model 5. We cover making a muslin from the cushions, creating a pattern, cutting all the pieces, and then assembling the seat covers. We used upholstery leather, denim, and scrim foam for the covering materials.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN those seats look slick!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was watching these videos being like, ya Colby's just an everyman... if he's building this plane I've got a shot at decent results. Then you post this Mike Patey level video of insane artistry and crush all of my confidence!!! That leather work is amazing and the finished seats are incredible.
Yeah this doesn’t look like the first time he’s done this kind of thing. Very impressed
Lol, you’re too kind! It all looks better through a camera, I promise.
Excellent work, my friend. Well done. You are now the Official Bearhawk Upholsterer. Mark will no doubt be in touch
Haha, I’m excited to move on and learn the next new thing. Thanks for watching, Brian.
@@ColbyOsborn I look and wait for your posts, buddy. All gold
Bearhawk... King Ranch edition
I swear a lot when I sew....this is gonna be epic when we start our seats...
😂 The number of swear words during the process and the amount of satisfaction experienced upon completion seem highly correlated, in my experience. Hope you enjoy!
Beautiful work! You are the first one that I have seen to record and post the upholstery work. Thanks for taking the time and effort to show others.
Nice to see another saddle builder building a plane. Not that I’m much of a saddler these days but much respect to the craft.
Much respect for your skills, especially hand embossing your custom upper-center panels ♠️♠️
King Ranch Edition Bearhawk! NICE!!
King Ranch edition BearHawk! Looks great!!!! love you video's!
Jesus Christmas! is there anything this guy can't do - or doesn't have the tools for?? Very impressed
Absolutely beautiful work!
Amazing job on those seats…
So happy to see this information on making your own seat foams & upholstery! My husband and I are building an RV10 and want to do our own upholstery. Yours is the only video resource I have found.
VERY GOOD WORK ...! Congratulations to both of you. 🤗 💪💪
As a leather craftsman myself, I thoroughly endorse what you did even if it added extra time and weight. It should fly way better this way, no question.
What are you talking about with the satisfied with mediocre results. Those seats are amazing. You'll be the envy of many a high class aircraft owner.
Oddly this was one of the videos in your build series iv enjoyed the most. I did not care at all about the seats i thought. But what a difference it makes giving it such a personal touch. Awesome work!
Thanks! Appreciate the complement.
Wow...even gotta surface plate for your leather work...nice! Thanks for sharing 😉👍
Favorite child. Please. like a great fisherman, plane builders must be famous for exaggerating too! Haha
Shoot! I was sure all of you quit watching months ago!
Beautifully done Colby! A few details like these magnificent seats and your plane is really going to stand out!
For what it's worth, those results are far from mediocre. You've done a fantastic job with the upholstery. Looks amazing!
Thanks!
Next level DIY right there… Nice Job!
Holy smokes that’s some impressive work. Looks great, love the personal touch too with the initials.
Thanks Nick!
Wow very impressive leather work!
Beautiful work! And truly one of a kind.
Blooming hell! Those seats are awesome and the headrest decorative add-in - SCHWEET!
Thanks!
UHHHHH..... WOW! Very impressed!
Awesome work Colby! I would never have tried this. Great work!
Thanks Mark! You get to skip the bench seat!
Great job! 😊👍
Amazing!
Just came across your channel and quickly got caught up. You took it to another level this video. Great job!!
Thanks, Casey! Appreciate the complement.
Sweet seats brother!
Absolutely mad props for that quality work!
Thanks!
Fabulous work..I'll say again.. top class videos
TOP CLASS
Nice video… great series
Thanks!
With these particularly awesome DIY seat covers I am wondering where the matching scabbard for the Henry all weather side gate will go.
With those skillz El Guapo doesn't stand a chance. Your filming is getting really good too....
Haha, thanks Schu!
Awsome
Buy a servo motor and speed reducer it will make all the difference. You will do stitch per second and you will have ultimate control my man
I see the comments are mostly positive so I’d like to address some negatives, This main guy is getting all the credit but as he said his mom basically did 99% of the work. Clearly some editing of the video to make it look like he was involved. The leather work was nice but also I suspect camera tricks, this level of excellence doesn’t just happen in a garage. Would also like to see more of the lady and the dogs. If you are available to build me a gaming chair I would be interested I’m trying to get my K/D up.
😂 less Colby and camera trickery, more Dakota and Amanda. Got it.
Where did you learn to sew so well ??
Nice work Colby, did you do the leather inlay?
Thanks! I did. I show a few clips of the tooling process at the very end.
🤔..Oshkosh Grand Champion being built? Sure looks like it! 👍😁
Haha, appreciate the kind words. We’re going utilitarian from here on out though. 😁
That's a great job you done on seats.
I can see only two rows, did you give up the third seat row on this build?
Thanks! We're building ours as a 4-place with a large cargo area. The extra cargo space will be more useful to us than the third row of seats. But we still have the seat frame and all of the attachment points are welded in place if we ever change our mind.
@@ColbyOsborn
Any chance on one of the videos, you could pop the seat frame in the plane just for a reference, how much cargo space there is with an extra row and without it?
Thanks
If you stop my second video "Receiving and Unboxing Our Airplane Kit" at 10:11 you can see a side shot of the frames for all 6 seats installed.
@@ColbyOsborn
Thanks buddy, seen that. I was thinking of a stage when the fuselage is covered, and one can actually visually appreciate the space. It is a bit difficult to reference on a uncovered frame structure.
Good luck with the project. Hope to join the club of bearhawk owners...
Gotcha. I’ll get a shot like that once I get it all covered and have the rear baggage bulkhead in. We’re thoroughly enjoying building. Hope you can enjoy building someday soon as well.
I noticed the initials etched into each front seat. One for you and one for your wife. What is the "N" etched into the back seat? Are you guys expecting?
The “N” is the brand for our family’s ranch. I figured a ranch plane has to have the brand somewhere.
