    I am actively trying to convince my wife that we need a stol and looking at the 4 place bearhawk. I have been watching your videos catching up. I love the personal touches!

    You'll never be able to sell this plane, you know. There are too many personal "Osborn" touches incorporated in it. Very nice job on the grips!

    You might want to consider shooting a small screw thru the center of those self adhesive tye wrap pads. I have had them come unstuck before.
    That hand grip on the stick is beautiful!

    Watching your project has made me put a Bearhawk 5 on my short for my next build. Your craftsmanship and attention to detail is phenomenal. That much being said, please don’t solder anything. You’ll end up chasing broken wires pretty quickly in a high vibration environment like an airplane. When I went through a 2 year re-wire and panel install with a well known shop on my Lancair, I learned pretty quickly that they don’t even own soldering irons. Everything is done with crimp connectors for the afore mentioned reason.

    • @ColbyOsborn
      @ColbyOsborn  2 роки тому

      Appreciate the complement and the tip, Jesse! The PPT buttons and the one connector for the ELT are the only two things I'm currently planning to solder. I think everything else for us will be crimp connectors of some variety. Thanks again for the advice!

    Do you have any recommendations for removing the oozed out Oratex glue after applying the finish tapes..

    • @ColbyOsborn
      @ColbyOsborn  2 роки тому +1

      I don't think there's a good way to remove the glue if it's been activated. If it hasn't been activated, denatured alcohol seemed to work pretty well. I used the pre-glued finish tapes and only applied a narrow line of glue right on the seam, which helped prevent glue oozing out from under the finish tapes.

    • @kolbclassicbuild4871

      @@ColbyOsborn thanks for the reply! I’m having a challenge with that fine line of glue… once the finish tape starts to shrink.. :)

      Before too long, I hope. Waiting on a few items that were expected to be delivered back in June. I have a video on panel design/cutting and installing all the electrical units more or less ready to go once I receive a couple of items. In the meantime I'm working on wiring everything up, but that will probably be a separate video early 2023.
