The problem I have in Norway, is the cold weather. It's difficult to prewash. It'll freeze on the car driving to brushless carwash 800 meter away. Getting back to garage the car is ice covered, and need to stand for a hour or two before I can wipe it of. Going to Denmark next week where temps are in plus. Then it'll get a royal treatment.
Fellos in Nordic countries have my sympathies. As for us in the UK, I use prewashes that rinse off easily like Touch Less V3 or GT snow foam V3. Sugar based prewashes that remove most of the dirt 95%>. Cars will get dirty a couple days down the road anyway so contact washing them in the freezing cold makes no sense. Wasting time, water and materials. Wait for the spring or warmer temps to make it worth the hassle of washing the cars. Edit: I thought I had it cracked when I used to dilute my chemicals into pump up sprayers and take them with me to the supermarkets with jet washers in really cold weather to do my prewashes but the supermarkets are useless for reliability and making sure they actually work.
Some really good helpful tips there Heather. I use hot tap water and some Marigold gloves, they make me look very fetching 😂 I set all my products I’m going to use before I start so I can ‘streamline’ the wash.
Excellent tips. Thank you. I used 3d Bead It Up on mums car this morning. 2c and it was a smeary mess. Wish id watched this video as i probably would have used something else. Lesson learned. Thanks
Really helpful as always Heather, I always leave your videos with some new ideas and an ever depleting wallet. I recently had as outside hot tap installed and it had saved me so much time. Out of interest, if you had to stick with a single brand of maybe two, what would you choose?
Thanks Stephen! I’m jealous of the hot water tap haha. Hmm that’s a tough one tbf there’s so many brands I like. I’d probs go for Garage Therapy and Squid Ink I reckon, both have very solid ranges
@@AutoCareHQ thank you so much, I have noticed that they are often coming out on top in your tests. Thankfully though we can select best in class from multiple brands
Pretty much what you described is what I do. My chemicals are all indoors from October onward until normally May this is Scotland after all, along with my pressure washer and stubby gun. It drives my wife crazy as I have 4 large plastic boxes with lids for my chemicals plus my box of products I use for each wash. Quick update on my Yum products I am very impressed and my Tar & Residue that was on back order from Black Friday arrived today. I have not been making up the wheel snow foam to the dilution suggested I put 50ml into a litre of warm water into my pump foamer and find it very effective. I have yet to try my glass+. I have been under the weather since Christmas thanks to my son who brought a flu bug home from Uni so I am itching to get out and clean our cars as I can't stand looking at them so dirty. I recently ran out of Snow Foam and had to get some quickly so I bought some of the Halfords own brand that was on offer and I must say I was very happy with it and it was a reasonable price 2.5L for the price I usually pay for 500ml of my usual product.
Can anyone recommend a product to keep green algae from growing in the rubber window strips? Hubby keeps his newer car in the garage, so I keep my car outdoors and we have a lot of rain..hence a lot of algae growth. Thanks, everyone.
I'd also be interested. For now I keep on top of it and use a detailing brush to agitate it (after the prewash during the contact wash) but a preventative measure would be nice. I have an algae etc remover I can spray on the house and my fences but I'm not chancing it on the window seals or the car generally.
@@06kellyjacI don’t have this problem, maybe I just clean the car too much ! However, there’s a couple of things you can try. If you can get your hands on Meguiars Wash + it’s quite an aggressive shampoo and is applied directly to a wash mitt ( a detailing brush may be better if you’re just doing the rubber ). The other thing you can do is push a plastic credit card behind the seal ( soaked with APC or similar ) , this should stop anything building up and spreading from the inside , it will also help prevent those nasty white streaks on the gals when you put the widow up and down. Neither of them act as a preventative measure but they should stop a build up. Hope this helps.
Another great video for winter cleaning 👏👍🚗
Gyeon wet coat is my saviour during the winter.
It’s a cracking product
Great info Heather.
Thanks Stephen 😊

Yeah it’s much easier in the UK!
You don’t have indoor wash boxes in Norway?
@fluzzerr they are rare. Normally it only has a roof and no walls. Which makes them pointless most of the time in the winter months.
How do you guys wash your cars in winter then?
Same story here in Ontario, Canada.
Great video Heather, keep 'em coming
Thank you!
Thanks Heather - a great summary
Thanks for watching Adrian 😊
Helpful. I think watching the weather is a good tip. There is no need to do a full detail when vehicles get hammered 1 minute later.
Yep that’s true!
Nice to see another HDD product I've used a few, really do think you get good results at competitive price
Agreed they’re great value for money
Useful video chum. Thank you 🙏
Thanks for watching!
Awesome info thanks heather
Thanks Mike!

Haha nothing wrong with that! That definitely helps too
Hello Heather, these are good tips, definitely worth doing in this weather.
Thanks Steven!
Another great video, keep up the great work 👍
Cheers I appreciate it 😊
Thanks for the tips Heather!
Thanks for watching!
Excellent info. Thank you so much for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend
Thank you! You too!
Awesome again Heather x

Thanks! It’s always tough when it’s cold and humid, makes sealants and quick detailers a real faff sometimes
Nice lady Heather 👌💐
Thanks for watching!
Excellent video!
Thank you very much!
Hi Heather, Good suggestion to use Bilt Hamber Touchless and then an acidic shampoo afterwards i.e. CarPro Descale
Thanks for watching Simon 😊

My car is filthy from the salt & dirt on roads. I don't have access to an outside water supply. Thanks for this helpful video 😊
Me neither
Do you have any self-serve washes at a local garage/ shop? Could maybe do the pre-wash there and then a rinseless wash at home
I'll check that out. Thank you. Much appreciated 👍
Another awesome video Heather❤ whipping the content out, well done you😇
I also see you have a dojo juice detail bag 🧐🧐🧐
Thanks Simon! Haha yep I love that bag
Come to Cyprus everyone the weather is beautiful even now that is winter is sunny and good temperature and the car is always clean 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Haha it sounds perfect!
Usual great video,, some great tips,, 👍,, do you have any experience with RainX ?,, is it any good,??
Best wishes,, John,, 😍
Thanks! Yeah RainX is decent stuff but not as durable at the Soft99 Glaco Ultra from my experience

Thanks for watching John. Cheers for the product update too, I still need to try my T&G remover. Hope you feel better soon too!
@@AutoCareHQ Thanks
Hi heather..Can we use Koch chemie Green star diluted 1:10 as a pre-wash? Will it damage the paint?
I’ve used it before and not had any issues. I wouldn’t use it any stronger though, and try to avoid any chrome trim just in case it’s prone to stains

I’ve not found anything that prevents it really. I usually use a citrus and detailing brush and try to keep on top of it

Useless tips for real winter with cold, dirt, salt and snow.
