I like that the switch port retains the same feel of Subnautica, despite the shortcomings. I was actually impressed when I was playing, even if I tried the PC version a couple of years before
How to get very smooth 60 fps gameplay on ps5 with no tearing: while playing game on fps mode press : R1,L1 AND X ALL AT THE SAME TIME. A menu will pop up. Type in all in lower case - vsync - then hit enter. Vsync is enabled and no more screen tearing! Trust me it plays way smoother and better. Best version to play in my opinion.

@Jose Luis Serna Mesa todavia no esta termindado, estan trabajando en un parche de actualizacion para que no haiga errores como uno que molesta mucho que cuando llevas 14-30 horas de juego no te deja volver a meterte al mundo, y en el parche van a optimizarlo mejor, pero yo lo e jugado y solo tengo caidas de frames cuando quito cosas con el constructor de habitats, amila resolucion me da igual, yo prefiero fps antes que graficos

El problema es el juego en si, está muy mal optimizado para consolas, para pc es diferente, pero en consolas suele tener muchos crasheos por lo mismo, es triste considerando el juegazo que es

On series X it seems to run at 4k locked 30 or 4k 60 with bad drops. In the 60fps mode it can drop into the low 40s, even into the 30s at times and it goes up into the 80s without vsync. When driving around in the seamoth it averages around 50fps I would guess. It's very erratic. Even with VRR it sucks. I would rather have a 1080p 60fps mode like the PS5 has. But yeah, the game is terribly optimized.
@@shuandoyle7871 Pretty small is like 10-30. 70 is quite a large studio. It's not what a lot of other companies are when in comparison but by and large 70 is a pretty big studio especially for a indie games studio. Most indie games studios have around 20-30 people.

What do y'all expect from a handheld console? It has the worst graphics and looks compared to the other ones but do you guys think that a Switch is a "powerful" console? It can also come with other glitches like your base or cyclops having the waterwaves go through it rather than around. Though im not sure if that the result of turning on vsync or not

Have you tried typing "vsync" on dev command all in lower case so it won't tear as bad ? It made a night and day difference on the ps5 version fps mode. Now it's buttery smooth

it's quite unplayable from having owned it. The issue is not the lack of shadows but the god aweful draw distance. Subnautica is ALL about immersion, and when stuff loads up right in front of your face, it just takes away from that entirely
I've played it on PS4 and PS5. the difference is soooo extremely small, hardly noticeable, except for the charging times;) but that the ps4 charged for so long here in the test is not normal, my ps4 pro was never that slow;)

No, there is a pretty big difference. Game is actually vibrant in color, wasn't on PS4. 60fps mode, which is much smoother and MUCH less input latency. Less blurry, and better graphics

It would seem Subnautica had to drop many graphical items to be stable on a portable device. But I guess it is portable… does it run or look better docked?
Tried Subnautica on the PS5 yesterday and it was rather disappointing to find that it runs worse on this quite powerful machine than it did on my old PC with a GTX 960 a few years ago. No idea why it doesnt even manage to hold a rock solid 60FPS in the performance mode. I hope its just bad optimalization and not the PS5 abilities.
I heard people complain about optimization on Xbox as well. Not sure. Definitely not the ps5 because it holds steady 60 fps on the wayyy more intense games

PS5 version seems half baked. Barely an upgrade over ps4 besides some shadows. There is no good reason a ps5 game should be the same resolution as its base ps4 counterpart.

Hicieron bastantes sacrificios con la versión de Switch, pero es impresionante que funcione en absoluto. En Deck da igual los gráficos que pongas que nunca llegas a 60 frames por segundo. Con gráficos medios (donde ya se ve mejor que en Playstation 4 o Switch) la cosa va a entre 38 y 60FPS, dependiendo de la carga. Es un juego bastante exigente (normal, será el juego en Unity más espectacular que se haya creado) y los desarrolladores tienen mi reconocimiento por tratar de llevarlo, lo más íntegro posible, a Switch.
The fact is that the developers were too lazy to make a good optimization. The game in quality mode should run in 60 frames, PS5 would have coped with this. A good example, the recently released game Resident Evil 8. The graphics there are 200 times better than in subnautica and the PS5 draws it in 60 frames. In this case, the game is loaded in a couple of seconds. This speaks of great optimization.
If anyone wants to know why switch loads quicker than PS4 I'm pretty sure it's because they both load 50-100 megabytes per second witch is what the hard drive is capable of but since Ports for switch that were already in Xbox one or PS4 are such a downgrade for example apex legends it loads less and games take less storage in it since switch only has 32g of storage. Btw I don't know if I'm right but I think it's the reason it loads quicker than PS4 in lots of games. Also switch also loads quicker than some Xbox one games to btw. Also prob loads quicker cuz it uses cartridges
Hate to say it but this game runs far better on my Nintendo Switch compared to my PS4 Slim. The PS4 obviously looks better but the amount of odd frame rate/stuttering issues on PS4 is jarring and takes me out of the game constantly. Switch might be blander to look at but it's still a beautiful game because of art design and at least on my Switch it runs consistently and there aren't all of these frame dips and weird stuttering issues (literally every time you close you PDA on PS4 it stutters. EVERY SINGLE TIME.). Another thing is the amount of pop in on PS4. Granted Switch clearly has a lower draw distance but you don't run into the same random-ass pop in issues that you do on PS4. I'm floored that the PS4 version is so glitched out. I might be over emphasizing a little bit because it is playable if that's all you got but since I have both Switch and PS4 (also a gaming PC) I choose to play this on my Switch in hand-held mode. Even if it "looks worse" at least it's a smooth and consistent experience.

The developers will need to update them game to add more graphical fidelity like Jedi order it’s getting a new one this summer
you can actually run it at 120 fps by unlocking the framerate with the developer commands, there are alot of videos that show you how to do it

@@reducedtoatoms327 no you cant. At highest it will give you like 45fps. Still a big improvement though. It will still lag hard when you close your tablet. It can also come with other glitches like your base or cyclops having the waterwaves go through it rather than around. Though im not sure if that the result of turning on vsync or not
That’s a pretty weak patch. With the stylized graphics, this should easily be 4K60 or 1080p120 with the equivalent of Max settings.
Excelente análisis, me parece un tanto lamentable que un juego de generación pasada vaya a 1080p 30/60 en PS5, el simple hecho de que haya un modo 1080p 30fps me parece una falta de respeto y una burla al consumidor, 1080 60? mínimo 1440p, te lo entendería si es un juego extremadamente realista pero se ve muy similar a la version de PS4, hay mucho por mejorar en esta version.

FPS mode clearly has lower shadows resolution and/or filtering.
I understand switch does not have the best graphics, but understand it is on a smaller console that is portable

What’s even crazy is that you could run 60fps on the ps4 pro but it’s in dev command, I would say the 60fps on ps4 pro looks amazing it just cause screen terror, I just wish the devs could add 60fps as a option to subnautica on console.

Have you tried typing "vsync" on dev command all in lower case so it won't tear as bad ? It made a night and day difference on the ps5 version fps mode. Now it's buttery smooth

it's quite unplayable from having owned it. The issue is not the lack of shadows but the god aweful draw distance. Subnautica is ALL about immersion, and when stuff loads up right in front of your face, it just takes away from that entirely

I've played it on PS4 and PS5. the difference is soooo extremely small, hardly noticeable, except for the charging times;) but that the ps4 charged for so long here in the test is not normal, my ps4 pro was never that slow;)

No, there is a pretty big difference. Game is actually vibrant in color, wasn't on PS4. 60fps mode, which is much smoother and MUCH less input latency. Less blurry, and better graphics

Tried Subnautica on the PS5 yesterday and it was rather disappointing to find that it runs worse on this quite powerful machine than it did on my old PC with a GTX 960 a few years ago. No idea why it doesnt even manage to hold a rock solid 60FPS in the performance mode. I hope its just bad optimalization and not the PS5 abilities.
I heard people complain about optimization on Xbox as well. Not sure. Definitely not the ps5 because it holds steady 60 fps on the wayyy more intense games
@@luinira I have not tried much on the PS5 yet, nothing developed directly for it so cannot really say, but the Matrix tech demo while looking quite good was not impressive in terms of framerate either.

PS5 version seems half baked. Barely an upgrade over ps4 besides some shadows. There is no good reason a ps5 game should be the same resolution as its base ps4 counterpart.

Hicieron bastantes sacrificios con la versión de Switch, pero es impresionante que funcione en absoluto. En Deck da igual los gráficos que pongas que nunca llegas a 60 frames por segundo. Con gráficos medios (donde ya se ve mejor que en Playstation 4 o Switch) la cosa va a entre 38 y 60FPS, dependiendo de la carga. Es un juego bastante exigente (normal, será el juego en Unity más espectacular que se haya creado) y los desarrolladores tienen mi reconocimiento por tratar de llevarlo, lo más íntegro posible, a Switch.

The fact is that the developers were too lazy to make a good optimization. The game in quality mode should run in 60 frames, PS5 would have coped with this.
A good example, the recently released game Resident Evil 8. The graphics there are 200 times better than in subnautica and the PS5 draws it in 60 frames. In this case, the game is loaded in a couple of seconds. This speaks of great optimization.
Its also very laggy in certain places with the original ps4, atleast for me. Not sure why its so poorly optimized

If anyone wants to know why switch loads quicker than PS4 I'm pretty sure it's because they both load 50-100 megabytes per second witch is what the hard drive is capable of but since Ports for switch that were already in Xbox one or PS4 are such a downgrade for example apex legends it loads less and games take less storage in it since switch only has 32g of storage. Btw I don't know if I'm right but I think it's the reason it loads quicker than PS4 in lots of games. Also switch also loads quicker than some Xbox one games to btw. Also prob loads quicker cuz it uses cartridges

Hate to say it but this game runs far better on my Nintendo Switch compared to my PS4 Slim. The PS4 obviously looks better but the amount of odd frame rate/stuttering issues on PS4 is jarring and takes me out of the game constantly. Switch might be blander to look at but it's still a beautiful game because of art design and at least on my Switch it runs consistently and there aren't all of these frame dips and weird stuttering issues (literally every time you close you PDA on PS4 it stutters. EVERY SINGLE TIME.). Another thing is the amount of pop in on PS4. Granted Switch clearly has a lower draw distance but you don't run into the same random-ass pop in issues that you do on PS4. I'm floored that the PS4 version is so glitched out. I might be over emphasizing a little bit because it is playable if that's all you got but since I have both Switch and PS4 (also a gaming PC) I choose to play this on my Switch in hand-held mode. Even if it "looks worse" at least it's a smooth and consistent experience.
