Current spins at home this week, and another shout out and thanks to the VC'ers who contributed to my thread! If I missed anyone as of this video, let me know...
Hi Ed, great pickups! Great collection of Elvis Costello you showed at the end. You are correct those albums are all superb. Lloyd Cole and X are two artists I love but have zero of. I have that PJ Harvey Cd. I will definitely check out Nanci Griffith and Clarence Carter. Excellent video!
The X album is great. They were playing it at my local record store a couple of weeks ago. I went home and threw it on the table. Forgot how good they were. Very nice best of Clarence Carter. I own the Sharon Jones title on vinyl, it’s fantastic.
Really - wow! I did see X a few years back here in CT, and John Doe solo at some point as well. Under the Big Black Sun is my go-to for them. I really should get some of the Daptone releases on vinyl (I have them on CD); the retro-packaging warrants that. Hope you had a nice weekend Mark.
That is a wonderful X album and I am a big Dave Alvin fan. I do like that Lloyd Cole album and like the X album, I only have it on CD. Same with Steve Earle. I wish that I had seen Nanci Griffith in concert. Sharon Jones was wonderful. Some great listens.
Thanks Randy! I love all that rockabilly/cowpunk kind of stuff: Blasters, Jason and the Scorchers, X, etc. Very happy to have seen both Nanci Griffith and Sharon Jones when I had the opportunity. Appreciate the watch and comments, and hope you had a nice weekend.
Whatever works for you Jack: either way I appreciate the comment! Have subscribed to your channel and looking forward to catching your videos. Good stuff! Enjoy your Sunday 😎🎶 Ed
I'm a big Lloyd Cole fan. I think that record is better than the reviews suggest, but I do like the other two better. Yes, Elvis Costello's first 4 are the tops!
I plan on picking up the other Commotions releases for sure. I do need to slow down a bit though, and hold off until vacation until end of June. Have a great Father's Day Brian! 😎🎶
Excellent. I have been a fan of hers for a long time. David Letterman is also a big fan, and you can catch her performances from his show online. Hope you had a nice weekend! Ed
Hi Ed! If you’re coming down this way we should meet up! I love Lloyd Cole. I have my original copy of Copperhead Road from when it was first released. David Atkinson is a cool guy. He’s got an amazing collection. I have that Nanci Griffith CD compilation. ✌️
That'd be cool: New Haven/Boston run is certainly doable. All about scheduling! David Atkinson's music loft setup is stellar. Have a great Father's Day Mike! 😎🎶
Nearly anything is going to be a letdown after Rattlesnakes. I thought Mr. Malcontent and Hey Rusty were pretty great - not a bad album overall. I have that Sharon Jones record! I have her Christmas record too (or the Daptones' Christmas record.) It's great that you got so many responses to the thread....I've seen a few of them but did not get around to making a video. And now there's nobody left. lol Thanks for showing the records Ed.
I'm giving Mainstream a few more concentrated spins , and it's growing on me for sure. I will pick up the previous two Commotions lp's when i come across them. I have all the Sharon Jones output on CD, and really should get some of that over on vinyl, since the retro-packaging warrants it. She was go great! I am amazed by the thread responses - so much great stuff and content has been shared. I was going to do a Part 2, but in a matter of days the stuff I wanted to show was all used up - just like you said! Appreciate the watch Randy - hope you had a nice weekend.
Hey, thanks for the shout, part 2 of my video will be out today Noon EST. X, Exene produced a Skating Polly record, when they were like 10-11 years old, fun band fun record. I'd love to check out that playlist, is it on Spotify?

Thanks Shawn! My favorite X lp is Under The Big Black Sun from 1982. Only one way to play it...LOUD! Hope you're having a great weekend 😎🎶

I am hoping to participate in your thread soon, just don’t know when. Thank you for what you do!

I’m streaming the Nanci Griffith now based on your rec - very pretty voice.

I didn't know that! I don't have/use Spotify, so afraid you are on your own when it comets to giving yourself a listen :-)
@@onmyturntable7036 Thanks!
I did receive PJ Harvey's Grammy-nominated latest album, but not in time for making my 2024 Grammys video.
Nice! I haven't gotten anything new from PJ Harvey in while, but I hear her latest is pretty good. Stories, and Let England Shake are up there for me.
@@onmyturntable7036 My thread response has been up for a week now, btw.
